My DMR ones only have the inner lockon, they are a bit fatter and after a long ride with them this weekend I didn’t suffer any arm pump as I used to with my old Sunline (fat) grips.

They also come with a bar end plug that I used to butt the grip up against and it grips the non lockon end quite well.

They were cheap as well, something like £12 rings a bell.

Kayaking, swimming and cycling. Swimming helps with the kayaking more. Although the rain we have had recently it feels more like swimming when cycling!!

I guess swimming and kayaking helps upper body and shoulder strength which in turn helps with the bikes.

I have always had great service from them. I needed a bike quick for a trip to france a few years back and after a quick phone call to them I had one at my door before lunch the following day.

I don’t think the shops mistake would be treated as theft as the OP didn’t go out of his way to take the goods from them. THEY made a mistake and sent them.

However the right option would be to offer it back to them at cost.

I had something similar happen to me with Stif and ended up getting a huge discount on the next lot of goods I ordered as a thank you for returning the items!

Its more to the fact she wants what she can’t have, a bit like us with new bikes!

Chuck her out, treat her mean and she’ll be all over you like a rash!!

I have 3 SS and one geared bike. The geared bike is a road bike which is fine because the change in speed on the road justifys gears. However off road, I find that with the right gear ratio I can power up the hills, cruise the flats and pump the downs.

    I love it!

I got 30mins in and realised nothing had really happened. BMXing was very lame and they really weren’t taught that much, they pumped the doubles rather than jump them and just seemed really slow.

A long way from the chris Evans whip on the MX bike in the advert.

Would have been much better if they had 1 male and 1 female and trained them up to do one big task – like a big MX jump or similar.

It’s on all week isn’t it, I know I WON’T be watching it.

I went to leave for work this week and my 20 month old said to me ‘bye bye daddy’ followed with ‘miss you’ – nearly started to well up there and then on the spot!!

If I pass wind she looks at me and says ‘silly daddy’.

It’s the looks she gives though, if looks could kill when she is asked to do something she doesn’t want to we’d all be dead!!!

I think you’ll find most people on here who sell stuff are open enough to say who they are and what they are doing and that goes a long way.
I had never heard of SpokeShirts until I read a thread a while back, guy was honest, offering discount and that is good.

I guess it becomes an issue when someone says Oh yes I bought a fork or disc pads or jacket etc. from a shop or a particular brand and ravs on about it when they actually work for the shop or brand.

Mind you, seeing how quickly some stolen bikes can be found on here I am sure the detectives of STW would soon work it out!!

Boring, and too much blah blah blah, then the riding was OK.
I didn’t like the transitions between the seasons, looked very CGI to me (mainly going into snow). Some clips were pretty and it is a step up to most bike films. Still didn’t get me anywhere near as hyped up to ride as the Brendon Fairclough section in Follow Me.

The best bit for me was watching the mechanic at work, I’d let him work on my bike!!

    +1 Geda

I had a finnish girlfriend once and stayed with her family one Christmas. A few days before Christmas her Dad said right, off to get the tree, so the whole family including me set off in their old Ford Sierra. Drove off to a remote forest (their Grandads apparently), found a tree and cut it down. Now this forest was remote, it was snowing heavily and whilst walking around this forest to find the tree we were in snow up to our waist. Tree went on the top of the car and we drove home. No problems what so ever and the reason being was 2 things, one experience of driving in snow and two, snow / winter tyres.
Winter tyres on any car will help this time of year.

it’s a 2006 model, not ridden very much, commuting 12 miles each day mainly.

I think more to the point he has a Spesh carbon with Dura Ace that isn’t ridden very much, just commuting. – It’s not right, poor bike!!

    ATGNI springs to mind!!

I have XT’s on my SS and SLX’s on my DH bike. The only noticable difference is the bite point adjuster on the XT’s but I like the feel of my SLX’s so on my XTs I just wound the bite point adjuster right off / in (?) so it’s the same as the SLX’s.

Personally I wouldn’t say that the bite point adjuster warrents the extra money spent out. The XTs have a slightly better quality to them and I am not sure if they are lighter but if your SLXs aren’t broken I wouldn’t really worry about the difference.

We had something similar with a bike my mum bought, she bought a ‘new’ bike on ebay using ‘buy it now’. Then the shop emailed her and claimed it was broken when they boxed it up and could offer her a different bike at the same price, no mention of a better bike, upgrade etc. Anyway after some time had passed and we got nowhere with a replacement my mum took out a complaint against them, they refunded her and the case was closed. Said shop then ‘relisted’ the exact same bike. You can easily get out of the transaction as a seller by claiming it ‘broke’ and then resell it easy enough. Ebay don’t really care as long as money is refunded and they get their fees along the line….

[ lack of circulation, caused by dislocated shoulder, yup bike crash

Surely your fingers are the least of your worries if you are riding with a dislocated shoulder 😉

A bit OT, but having dislocated my shoulder 7 times now, I suffer with the cold in my hands (not just the hand on the bad shoulder side) and my parents both have poor circulation and circulation illnesses and I have put it down to that. Did your dislocation cause a specific circulation problem or is this a side effect? Not something I have ever heard and curious!

I bought an old ‘un-branded’ vintage frame from ebay and set about creating my own fixie (a few years ago before the big trend). It was a great learning curve and has now got me singlespeed mad with all but my proper road bike being single. My fixie has seen so many different setups and currently its used as my turbo training bike.
Here is some pics to tempt you into a DIY project rather than off the shelf:
Arrived from ebay (think I paid £12 for the frame)

To my knowledge, all SRAM and Shimano cassettes work with Shimano and SRAM, Shimano rear shifters and rear Shimano derailleurs OK, or SRAM rear shifters and SRAM rear derailleurs OK. Front shifters and mechs are interchangable (i think). Also most product ranges can be mixed and matched i.e. XT, SLX etc. Just watch out for some of the Shimano stuff that can be different like Saint and Hone rear mechs that had a different mount, rapid rise tech etc.
Oh and the road stuff can be mixed in with MTB stuff as well just to confuse matters.
Your best bet is to ask specific questions once you have seen the products you intend to buy. Also ask sellers as they might know and are often very helpful.

Oh the STW masses on their soap boxes again!

We were all 15 once and most of us more than likely had a fav teacher that we dreamed of whilst passing the boring days of school.

So this lad, managed to nail his Ballet teacher, is lucky as he can brag about that in years to come down the pub!

Rode at Triscombe doing DH today, couldn’t drive up the hill from the pub had to walk it which was fun! Lots of guys doing XC passing through, a few offs in the car park that made us giggle, great fun in the snow and surprisingly grippy!

I had a car on lease whilst mine was being repaired, as the accident was the fault of the other party I had a no excess wavor on the lease car. I absolutly hammered that car for 3 weeks, took it flat out down farm tracks, rallying around the country lanes, totally drived it like a tw*t all the time. When I returned it, it was in hell of a state – no dents just covered in mud. I just told the guy I had been cycling the weekend before and had to park in a field. He came out to look at the car and said ‘well I can’t see if there is any marks on it as it’s too dirty to see’ he then looked at his paper work saw the no no excess wavor, shrugged his shoulders and signed it off!!

She’s a flyer, one of those bikes that just feels right, been running it on the 130mm travel until the other day and swapped it to the 160mm which drops the BB half an inch and slackens it a bit so will see what improvement that makes too.

Thanks for the response, are they as one person commented just cheap watches or is there some value in these (yeah not Tag prices but more than the cost of a new battery)?

My Father in Law did some plans for Norman Cook (Fat Boy Slim) and when he went to drop them around he was out but Zoe Ball and her Dad was there! He later said to Norman that rather than pay for the plans he could DJ at my Wedding, my Father in Law got paid 🙁

hehe I live between Crewkerne and Yeovil!!

Drop me an email at leeandrews@wc-freeriders.co.uk and we can arrange something. I am at home this Christmas and will be off work for prob 2 weeks so I can give you a spin of the local tracks and trails, good for couple of hours with some road riding linking bits up.

    Or

We could team up and head off to Mendips, Puddletown (Dorchester), Quantocks etc.

Thing is, the person selling or on the website doesn’t even have to be the guy ‘stealing’ the goods, there could be a long line of people involved before it ends at the seller. If you get a £3-4k bike for less than a grand and then sell it on for 2k+ you’ve made a grand for a bit of ebay and homework.

Someone with a bit of sense can do the homework and then pay the scrote off to get the bike for them!

LOL in the words of Harry Hill:
I like gears on my bike, I also like to ride single speed but which do I prefer – FIGHT!!

I ride SS MTB and I have a geared Road bike. I like Microsoft products and not a big fan of Linux but quite like Macs / Apple products.
I like boobies and not trouser snakes and feel I am fairly open minded and not too opinionated.

Why do I ride SS, cause I can ride everything on SS as well as I did with gears, it makes me fitter and my bike is lighter and simpler (other than working out best gear ratios).

Oh and do I judge people with gears no, nor with belt drives, big tyred ridge bikes, full sussers, fixies – nope each to their own – we wouldn’t have nothing to talk about, moan about or compare if we were all the same!!
