Domains are good, I’ve had a pair before and very good for what they were.

Also the new SR Suntors seem to be good value for money

I bought some 09 RC3s and have been pleased. Not used them a huge amount but done some DH days on them and they seem fine.

I spoke to windwave about issues and they told me it was 08s that had issues and mainly the ATA’s.

As I was buying new old stock mine would come with a warrenty so no real issue if there was a problem.

Thing is RS had issues with their air stuff originally, fox have issues with stantion wear so they all have problems.

It goes deeper really than convincing the wife but thats another story for another time.

I tried to get her out on the bikes, she likes cycling and as a family we do go out, just not off-road, thats more hassle than it’s worth and I like the time with my mates riding off-road, she’d rather talk about boring stuff than what Fishbone’s next **** <-Insert frame, fork, wheels, uppy downy post, frame colour, cranks etc. should be!!

Fishbone, not found anything yet, just pondering over the idea!

It might pay you to go back out at the same time again as you may find she walks her dogs in the same spot.

I also think a 190mm shock in the FR setting will result in the tyre buzzing the seat tube at the end of it’s travel.

Thanks for your responses. My thoughts seem to be right.

He is only going to be using the bike for DH type duties and had an oppertunity to buy a decent 190 shock so he’ll be alright!

I’m 5’8 (ish) and always had S/M and they seemed on the slightly bigger side of a S/M so I recon you’d be alright with the same.

I’ve had 2, had one of the original ones which had the gusset on the top tube that joined the 2 pieces together. Great bike, I originally had Jnr Ts at 170mm on there and that was brilliant, I then stuck 203mm boxxers and it was rubbish (I was young and silly). I then got one with the all in one top tube that was bent. Bought the basic one, striped it completely and replaced everything (including shock) and it was great, proper little DH bike that handled everything including the Mega.

It makes you wonder though who buys from these people, common sense is lacking I think and people turn a blind eye to the tale tell signs just to get a bargain!
If they bumped into a chav in the street trying to sell a cheap bike they would run a mile but behind a computer it’s OK!

And, like Fishbone you’ll wait an absolut age for it to turn up from Jungle!!

I had one ex pour a bag of rice through my letter box. Im not sure what that was supposed to achieve!

That is hilarious, shows the true mind of a broken woman (or man of course)!

If you had bought in your LBS and discovered their mistake (say, wrong shoes in the box), would you demand they paid for your petrol ?

Ikea did when I got home and realised not all the parts where in the box. They paid a set amount per mile for me to return it to my local store.

mboy – why does a heckler come with a high volume air can then? The heckler has a linear spring rate that requires a HV can to achieve all its travel at the same rate otherwise it would ramp up at the end ergo not achieving all travel or even close (source for this is the santa cruz site btw)

I am guessing, but if a frame has ramp up designed into the suspension movement and you have a LV can then the 2 ramp up forces could mean that you’d never really get full travel as the force required to get to that point is to high.
Whereas a HV air can requires less force to get to full travel so when you hit that drop or big rock there is enough force to more the shock through it’s complete shock stroke.

One more question. My bike takes a 200×50 shock, could I use a 200x57mm

Depends, lower the air in the shock / remove the spring in coil, compress suspension till you get full travel and see if the shock moved an extra 7mm if tyre will hit seat tube, pedal will hit the ground, something will catch somewhere, the earth will exploded causing a horrible death etc. etc.

A side point and slight hi-jack!
Sony PS customer service is excellent I will say, so don’t overly panic if it goes wrong.

Mine (120GB Slim) had a minor problem that it wouldn’t fully boot up when turned on from cold. Turn it off, back on again and it was fine.

Phone the support line, went through a few things, PS3 out of warrenty and they said no problem. This was 5pm and I had a replacement one (reconditioned one but looked new) with 3 months warrenty the NEXT day and the courier took my old one way.

Better than the 2-3 week turn around from the red ring of death that I had twice on my Xbox 360.

Oh and I got mine free with a phone contract from CPW and that wasn’t an issue either.

I have a steel dialled bikes ‘Love Hate’. I have owned LOADS of bikes and this one is hands down my favorite bike EVER! I run it with 120mm forks to slacken the head angle a little and have it built with light but functional parts.
So inspiraring to go fast and it makes me smile every time I ride.
    Oh and it is steel.

I pulled into a field one night in my old people carrier and got my head down for some sleep, next thing I know it’s morning and a landie pulls up behind me, I try and pretend I haven’t slept there all night and the farmer just nods and I get a ‘morn in’ from him as he walks past.

Too many people on here like to nit pick.

RR only really asked the question if there is anything that could be done about it?

I agree, too many farmers leave rubbish and junk around, normally self contained within their land but it doesn’t need to be this way. Why is it also old cars, the farmer in our village has half a dozen cars scattered about, never to be used again. If they were in a scrap yard at least you could use the old parts rather than it wasting away in a field.

In answer to your question though I guess the council is the best option and go down the ROW route as they are likely to do something about it.

I had one on my DH bike a few years back with no issues – I was gutted they didn’t make one small enough for my XC bike!

A quick question for all you lycra wearers:

I normally wear lycra padded shorts under my baggies (my least baggy baggies) on my road bike. However the other day I ’embraced’ the lycra and decided to just go out in my 3/4 bibs (fleeced lined wintery ones) and my thighs and nuts were freezing, so…
What layers of lycra do you lycra wearers wear??

A&E don’t prioritise! I severly burnt my fingers one morning and was taken to A&E, an old lady who was at the desk when we arrived, complained she had a sore wrist (from gardening) all week and waited until Saturday when she felt it was urgent enough to go to A&E rather than her doctor on the Friday or wait till the Monday. Even the girl behind the desk commented that it wasn’t urgent and could wait till Monday. Anyway I sat there in agony for nearly 3 hours and the old lady still went in before me!

I use a small Specialized one – fitted on a Gravity Dropper. The strap doesn’t interfere with the post at all.

Thats interesting as I have the same bag on my road bike so will have another look.

So do you use the seat post strap around the top of the gravity dropper (same dropper as I have) – Does the rubber boot not ger in the way?
or do you just use the seat rail straps??

    (pic might help :-))

    Which one?

The 2 I have seem to attach around the post to stop moving.

Well if I am feeling brave I do only go out with keys (front door and garage), trails on my door step so never that far from home. I do however normally chuck in my pocket a set of stick on patches and my CO2 pump and a small multi tool and a mobile phone in the other pocket.

The banging against my leg doesn’t really bother me that much.

I’ve always used Oakleys and really like lenses and quality of them. They also have very good after care and either fix or offer replacement parts at resonable prices.

I convinced my wife who always used cheap sunglasses and often got headaches in the sun to try a pair. She was really impressed with the optics of the lenses and quality of them and would never go back to cheap sunglasses again.

Why qib over a £100 pair of sunglasses when you’ve just paid a shed load more for laser eyes!!

I have found in the past I tend to have full extension on clips to gain the most power. Whereas on flats I tend to have it a little lower and have a bit of give in my knee still on full extension to compensate for foot on pedal postion.

Also on flats I am riding more for fun than fitness so aren’t looking for best pedal power position.

The STD coating can wear VERY quickly if used heavily or not serviced every 10 hours or whatever Fox recommend. I think it’s Fox’s way of marketing a problem into an upgrade!!

If I was kind and bought you a bike that you stored at your house as it’s your bike and it got stolen, my name would be on the invoice as I bought it for you but it would be covered as it’s your bike.

If you store it at your parents house and it got stolen, whether or not you live there wouldn’t be an issue as your parents would just claim it as their own property. Your Dad would just say you left it for him when you moved out if they quibbled over the name on the invoice.

    Not an issue I think.

Rusty Trowel, I also have the Trek you sold me in a car park outside Poole.

Still going strong and the worn bar tape from your wrist – still on there – lol!
