Just search ‘youtube’ for a couple of vids on how to remove them, did it yesterday myself when my new Ultegra front mech turned up and they are fixed at the bottom of the cage rather than a screw.

Popped the link off, threaded it through the mech, clicked it back on and seemed fine.

If you immobilize it for 6 weeks then that plus some as it won’t move if it’s not moved for 6 weeks.

Again, depends what you do, After my op they treated me similar to a disco and I went back to work after 4 weeks but still had my arm in a sling for 2 weeks at work until the 6 weeks when the physio let me take the sling off.

Get basic movements going quickly and keep moving your elbow as that can seize up pretty quickly.

I found the ‘stirring in a pot’ excercise good for keeping it moving.

Having done mine 8 times I am currently off the bike (since Decemeber) following a Latarjet operation on mine.

Agree with advice, I am rubbish at doing my excercises hence the problems I’ve had (although falling off in the Alps and saving my self from falling through a ceiling doesn’t help!).

One thing I have found that helps me over the years is NOT to keep my arm in the sling for very long. I found better results after 2 weeks MAX in a sling, with 1 week at home without arm in sling and then light duties at work from week 4. I normally wait 6 weeks before road cycling and then off road when I felt strong again.

Having read up on this recently, there was a paper that had done a study and found that if you dislocated your shoulder under 25 your muscles are more likely to be damaged than if you are over 25. You should be OK long term!
Having done mine when I was about 12 I was doomed.

No off-road riding for me till June 🙁

I’ve got a 1.9 TD Signum, 04 plate and I get on average 46mpg per fill up with keen driving and a little less if heavy footed (reset the average every fill up). Thats a mixture of country lanes, town and duel carridgeway.

Like you said though, as soon as the weather drops my MPG goes really low, annoys me when I have been super keen all the time and it goes down driving exactly the same as before.

My driving style has really changed since caring about MPG and it’s surprising how many cars I catch up with over the total journey after they overtake or speed off on the fast bits.

Add and Remove programs / Programs and Features (depending on what Windows you have), go through the list and remove all toolbars and junk you might have. Try the above if it still happens.

I agree with the OP, I love the public police who think it’s their place to enforce the countryside law.

I got so fed up up the rightous dog walker whos mutt’s eggs get everywhere, that the dogs attack sheep, dogs and other humans that they still feel the need to tell us cyclists what we are doing wrong.

Last year I ended up saying **** off but hated to being resorted to that level.

I was driving home (dark country B roads) the other night and saw a front light on my side of the road and could just make out a cyclist and thought what nutter is riding on the wrong side of the road. When I got closer it was some chav on his catalogue special with his front light on the back and no front light. Wasn’t sure if that was a good idea (I did indeed see him) or a darwin award waiting to happen.
I didn’t bother saying anything as I didn’t really know what to say.

This is my MK1, 120mm Fox’s, Float R rear shock, Renthal bits, XT cranks and brakes and a Gravity Dropper. Running 1×10 as well. Just ‘rawed’ it and made some custom blue and gold stripes. Looks and rides awesome. Love Trances.

A friend and I were only discussing loud, crazy coloured bikes on our last ride and we both agreed if you have a ‘look at me’ bike, you need the skillz to match – so have you?

Can you double backflip to tyretap 360 ally oop flair off a curb?

LOL this is a great read and I am sure exactly what the OP wanted!!

We often ride around our local country park that has a mixture of footpaths, bridleways and tracks that aren’t even classed.

Somedays it’s fine, other days we got people moaning. We are always polite – unless spoken too in an un-polite manner and slow down when walkers are present.

The only one we don’t ride is the National Trust one unless it’s dark or really early – it’s great fun and a proper cheeky one.

However, the amount of dog eggs left on footpaths from the dog walkers is horrendous!!

We bought some really strong stuff from the vets, sprayed every room, shut all the door and left the house for 24 hours, came back, opened all the windows and gave the house a good hoover top to bottom and that did the trick for us. I also found some still living in the little ‘dust buster’ hoover that my wife uses a lot so make sure you empty out the hoover as well.

We also front lined the cats.

I think you did the right thing, too many people don’t confront these people and thats why they get away with it. Shame the police couldn’t do any more about it as it’s not so much the litter issue but the crazy person behind the wheel.

I had a guy try and knock me off for cycling up the inside whilst they were in stationairy traffic, was never sure why but a really big whack on the side of his car and a good stare and arm waving put him back in his place. Can’t understand the mentality of these people sometimes.

My wife stopped the car and shouted at a teenage girl to pickup her rubbish after she dropped it the other day, she did as well and didn’t give her any abuse back. Sometimes it is worth doing it as maybe next time they will think.

I used to have a MK1 and just used an old ‘normal’ bike rack, hooked the top straps over the boot lid and got it to sit part on the boot lid and other on the top of the bumper. Worked fine for 2 bikes and 2 people in the car. Only issue was you couldn’t get into the boot after the bikes were on the rack without taking it all off.

Had a great time thanks and sorry I had to cut it short in the end but needed to get back for family duties in the afternoon.

Followed the trail back down the hill (great descent) and followed the path along the river however had a jobs worth point out to me that I was on a ‘footpath’ and shouldn’t be cycling it – lol – I just thanked her kindly for that information and carried on!!!

Found my way back easily enough and was sorry I had to finish before the cake stop – maybe next time.

Thanks again to all and was great to meet some new people.

I think to many people are nit picking little bits and are really missing the point at what the OP is trying to get across.

I actually agree with devs and would feel the same as he if in a similar situation.

The guy has a BROKEN frame, from a bit of digging it seems it could be a common issue on large frames.

He phones the UK importer to see if there is anything they can do or help him out. OK he’s not the original owner but he did buy a Santa Cruz and the original owner could have bought a MK2 after only owning a MK1 for a short period of time so actually Santa Cruz COULD of got 2 sales due to dev being prepared to buy a second hand frame.

However, UK importer seems uninterested in helping him out and basically tells him to go away. A friend cracked the rear swing arm of his Heckler and got the same response, after over 2 months of waiting his new swing arm came and he paid full whack.

I am sure the OP would have been happy with ‘OK your not the original owner, frame is out of warranty anyway, send us the broken one and we’ll sort you a new one at a discount’.

I know I would be happy with that and would stick loyal to the brand then.

You often hear people buying only Turner frames or Nicolai, wonder if that has anything to do with customer service.

I’ve had a few frames powder coated and had mostly good results except one time it didn’t go so well.

I had one of the first Giant Reigns and I had it powder coated in a lovely antique bronze finish, however after building it up, over a course of a few weeks the frame got slacker and slacker and it was slowly bending.

After speaking to the company who had done it (cheap and cash in hand), it turned out he had recently bought an oven that he puts items in overnight before shot blasting to soften the old paint and reduce time shot blasting.

We both agreed as the frame had ‘hydroformed’ tubing it was likely that the extra heat (not the powder coating curing heat) of the oven had caused the problems.

If I now use him again, I insist that they don’t go into the oven over night and if the old paint comes off easily he’ll just shot blast it or I strip it myself.

Double check your reba’s as some can be extended up to 120mm by removing a spacer inside, have a search as I think someone did a write up on how it’s done.

How much stantion is left after full travel is reached, if it is more than the bracket then it would work if it’s less then the seal would hit the bracket.

Also be wary of the crown / fork bridge (the bit that joins each lower leg together) as that could also catch on the bracket?

100mm on a Trance? Surely it is 100mm on an Anthem, not a Trance?

Not on my one which is the original one and came spec’d with 100mm forks:

Trance provides all the pedalling efficiency you want from a hard tail frame but with the added versatility of 4 inches of travel.

    Fork Fox FRL, 100mm

My Trance rides like a mini DH bike on the downs and that is mainly to the slacker head angle with the 120mm with 15mm axle Fox forks rather than the recommended 100mm forks, tiny stem and great Renthal bars! Pedals uphill nice too!!

I do have a dropper on mine to but TBH you can always stop and drop it an inch or two anyway before the good stuff.

I had exactly the same problem not long ago but mine was after all new running gear. Spent ages messing around with limit screws, gear cables, chain line, in the end it turned out to be the quick link in my mavic (yes mavic the wheel people) chain. Turned it around and ‘bingo’ problem solved.

Personally I think this is poor of Orange. If Orange told him they were going to replace the old frame and didn’t and it failed again they should replace it free of charge.

Not bike related but I got a ‘free’ PS3 with a mobile phone contract 2 decembers ago, this January (1 year and 1 month later on a 1 year warranty), it was playing up, wouldn’t start first time, you had to turn it off and back on again and it then worked fine. So I phoned Sony support, who very kindly as a good will gesture had a replacement / refurbished system to me the next day. Replacement unit however, as told on the phone had a 3 month warranty with it.

I guess Orange can specify the warranty life of any warrantied parts and in your case they didn’t want to know which is bad due to the time scales involved.

PeaslakeDave, thats what I found after a 20 min demo by Nvidea at this years gadget show. However I have seen a few 3D films now at the cinema which uses ‘passive’ 3D and been fine which makes me think the LG passive one will be better.

jwt, I will be mainly using the 3D side for gaming and have tried 3D from small computer monitors to large screen TV sets and feel that the 3D side of it is as good regardless of size. It does have a bigger impact on large screen but to be honest the same is for non 3D images as well, I always like to see films on the big screen.

Skill’s compensator I think is slightly different term. I think the term ‘over biked’ is used to compare someone’s lack of skill / performance against others who are riding the same thing better on a ‘lesser bike’.

If you rode an XC loop on a 160mm ‘all mountain’ bike in a record time and beat your mates when they were riding XC bikes then you wouldn’t use the term. If you struggled to complete an XC loop on your ‘all mountain’ rig when they whipped round, then you would use the phrase.

Same applies to a DH run on an XC bike, if you beat your mates on DH bikes, you’d call them lame or ‘over biked’, if they beat you, you’d say I am ‘under biked’ and could be better on a DH bike.

However if you are riding something with more travel than what is required and using the bike to compensate on your lack of skills (i.e using you suspension to stop you crashing after coming up short on a small double) then your bike is a skill compensator – which isn’t a bad thing.

I found my full on 200mm DH bike gave me the confidence to try bigger jumps / drops which I now do on my 160mm / 130mm ‘play bike’.

However, I do also agree with stop making up phrases and just ride a bike.
