I had a similar thing this weekend, must be Easter or something!

We have 1 allocated parking space in front of our garage which is away from the house and in a row.
The end garage belongs to a rented house who also had about 3 off road parking spaces plus the garage and the space in front.
The guy who rented the house was a cyclist and we became friendly and he then said it was OK to park my car if I ever needed to in one of his spaces as he never used the 4 spaces he had.

Anyway he has since moved out and the property has become empty.

On Friday I had a friend staying and to save any issues with my friend parking in the wrong place I moved my car into one of the empty 4 spaces that belonged to the rented house so my friend would park into my empty space.
Once he arrived we were off and not coming back till late so my car would only be in this space for an hour or so until he arrived and I thought, if it was an issue, anyone would know it was my car and see me to move it rather than a random car that nobody knows who it belongs to.

Anyway my neighbour who has nothing to do with any of this comes out and tells me I shouldn’t be parking in the rented house space. I point out to her that it is only for an hour and that the rented house is empty. She proceeds to give me a lecture about how we don’t want to upset the guy who owns the rented property and that I should call him and ask if it’s OK to use the space and maybe rent the use of it – FFS it was for an hour!!

I also know the guy who owns the house and he knows me, he is a friendly guy and would tell me if I needed to move my car IF he turned up on Good Friday morning.

I smiled nicely, nodded when required and agreed to the rubbish she is trying to tell me!! Went inside, didn’t move the car, didn’t call the owner and everything was fine. Why people have to get involved I don’t know!!

Mrs Jackass doesn’t normally ride so not going to spend a massive fortune on an off the shelf bike.

Also I will earn massive brownie points if I have got her a ladies bike and got it repainted so it looks like new and made her a bike.

Plan with all this is so that the three of us (Mr, Mrs + Jnr Jackass) can all go out on the bikes this summer along a canal path or somewhere flat and enjoy ourselfs and help Mrs Jackass get fit after having the baby.

Just paint it the colour she wants..?

She hasn’t told me an exact colour and I don’t want to ask her as it’s a suprise. I know that she’ll moan if it’s white and looking dirty so I will have to clean lots (which I don’t want to do).

Just trying to get some ideas!

It is an old Dawes Diploma so yes it’s a happy shopper bike but the DMR is a nice baby blue colour so I think it might suit.

Looking at a RAL chart though I do think 1015 Light Ivory would be nice, as would 5015 Middle sky blue or 5024 Pastel Blue.

Urghhh can’t decide, might just see what they guys at the powder place say and have in stock…

Oh if anyone has restored a ladies shopping bike lets see the pics…

Good luck, one piece of advice, during the busy and hetic day, you and Mrs Daffy take 5 minutes away from everyone and enjoy the quiet moment, you’ll feel great for doing it!

Isn’t that what Hill did / does??
    Think it helps you drift??

I’ve just ordered 2 rear Minions and going to run one of the rears on the front as I prefer the tread pattern on the rear to the front.

    Wasn’t ATC was it?
After some emails going back and forth due to not enough stock on an original order I ordered some 62A Advantage tyres, when they arrived they had sent me the cheaper 70A tyres – FFS! Maxxis make different compounds for a reason so check what the customer wanted!

They are pretty gutted, reading some of the posts on the ridepuddletown forum shows that!!

From what I gather it has been on the cards that they were going to do it due to the excessive building that has been going on and they were trying to make a club and charge you to ride the duel track (big section on the left from the popular car park) but it would seem the FC and H&S have knocked it all down before anything can be sorted.

The normal tracks and trails will still the rideable I guess as they have been for years and are part of the forest.

Works both ways, I live down south in a fairly rural part of the country. Apparently the local police had to go around the schools and colleges in one of the local towns and warn them of the dangers of living in a city as none of the children were very street wise and were of to uni in a big city!!

Mind you the drive to my work is nearly half a mile long and is through open fields where cows graze for 70% of the year. It’s worrying how many have been knocked over by the parents in the 4×4 (who are mostly farmers wives!!) – It’s not like you can’t see a big old cow in an open field and with a 5mph speed limit you can’t do much damage…you’d be suprised!!

The way I see it is that if they had 100% hard evidence you’d have been called into the office with your boss and been dealt with.

You have been shown a list of what you describe as a list of downloads and you are linked to it and IT are investigating it. IT should already have the evidence if they think it was you but I expect IT have to investigate as it isn’t 100% clear cut and could be a virus etc.

Speak to your boss but I wouldn’t worry too much (easier said than done). They would need hard evidence that you did it which would include files in your area or on the computer, times, multiple occasions and / or someone visually seeing you do it. They would have to prove 100% that it wasn’t a mistake or a virus to do anything as well.

We use username logging here as it’s a bit more unique as you haven’t got to worry about different computers etc. The only issue is if someone knows your user ID and password. I used to work for a senior school and found kids with porn etc in their user areas and always found if they were honest they’d get away with it whereas the ones who denided it got the heavy treatement. Like the guy who sits next to you said, it could be a virus or that the system has just got it wrong. I wouldn’t worry too much as it is hard to prove it 100% and if they can’t prove it 100% you can’t really do anything. You might just get monitored and told by your boss to be carefull in a non offical telling off!!

If you are really worried go and see your boss and explain that you are worried and that 100% you don’t know what it is. He’ll be the one deciding what to do at the end of it.

I once got in trouble for excepting a gift from a supplier and the company found out. I was told I was in serious trouble and worried like mad for over a week, when it came to the meeting to find out what was happening it was a very jokey meeting and we weren’t even told off. Just told to give the gifts back and we shouldn’t accept them again.

IP addresses are a series of numbers that get allocated to PCs when they are on a network. If things are logged to IP addresses you have to check what PC that IP address has been allocated too. Issues with this is that when an IP address is allocated it is given a lease, if not used within a certain time it goes back in the pot to be allocated to another PC. Depending how PCs are used etc. you could have an IP address that was previously allocated to another computer and have it now but was it was used incorrectly when allocated to another PC. They could have just got your PC mistaken with another. It might be IP 192.168.1.156 is allocated to PC-151 and you are actually using PC-152.

Little note, I once caught my boss surfing p0rn sites. Was very strange as I knew he’d get the sack if I took it further and he had a family etc. Told him I would check his surfing habits daily and if he did it again I would take it further. Needless to say he didn’t and never bothered me about anything. Always kept a copy of the logs whilst I worked there though just in case – lol

First thing first, being an IT manager and having found pages viewed at work that shouldn’t have been I know how I would deal with it.

The best thing for you to do in all cases is be honest, not saying you have done anything wrong but if you point out any sites you shouldn’t have looked at i.e facebook, ebay, STW etc etc. this will show you are being honest. Most people have a browsing habit, if you have looked at uni sites etc you should tell them about them and they should have it logged. If you are using internet explorer, press CTRL and H and this will bring up your browsing history, look back and see if the sites are in the list. If they are then you will have to prove someone gained access to your login and has done this without you knowing. See if you can get a witness that you weren’t on your desk at the time.

It’s a hard one to prove although IT may have got it wrong. It might pay for you to have a word with IT and ask them (nicely) how they have found this out and what made them think it was you. Different logging systems use different ways. Older systems use computer names or IP addresses or others use user names – if it’s the username one get your password changed and get them to monitor it for you to make sure no one is doing it whilst you aren’t at your desk.

    Any help just ask.

I used a the mount from a DMR top chain device roller:
    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=745
and a kinda L bracker from any DIY / Hardware store, a couple of rubber washers and use the standard mounting point on the bottom of most cameras (for tri-pods etc) to mount mine together.
Can mount it on the top tube, seat tube and handlebars for various angles. Also going to get another L bracker, drill out one of the holes to 12mm and mount it to my rear Maxle for either a rear shot that is low or possibly forward and get the whole bike in etc.

I have seen someone who used a chest strap and mounted their camera to it. That got the stem / handlebar / arms view and looked great, got to work that one out yet though.

I feel you should be annoyed and I would be if it happened to me. We are often made to feel bad for not using the LBS and for just saving a few quid we are putting local traders out of business for using the likes of CRC, Wiggle etc. However although not all of them, some LBS have some serious issues and often if you aren’t in the little group of regular big spenders they don’t seem to want to know.

I recently had a issue with a 4 quid bottle cage, first ride it broke and I lost my bottle. So I returned it to the mail order company I bought it from who gave me a full refund and out of good will actually replaced my bottle for me. Now I know my LBS wouldn’t have done this!!

With the internet companies offering good service and good prices I think LBS need to step up and evolve into something better….

I live about 30 mins from UK Bike Park and TBH given the choice I’d ride Cwmcarn. However down south we don’t have the same terrain as you lucky people at Glentress etc. but the guys at UKBP are trying to make the best of what we have and I think they have considering! It’s unfair to compare it to a location that has been quoted as having some of the best MTBing in the world!!
It is also quicker for me to drive (minus the ferry journey) to the Alps than it is Scotland!!

But going back to UKBP, good short DH tracks and some good jumps and northshore bits – pig of a push back up – if we do ride it normally we stick to the top sections and save our legs. Go on an uplift day and it’s OK.

Trouble is after watching that clip, if you are out on your own and a dog bites your arm like that you aren’t going to be able to grab a stick very easily and whack it. And yes the fat lady should have been hit with the stick too. I hope she got her ass kicked in jail.

I’ve got a medium and it fits me fine (Im about 5’8) Normally I go for small frames but as I wanted something I could use all day (did a 24 hour enduro last year on it) I went something a bit bigger. They have good stand over height and the length of it is prefect.

ooo just found a piccy of it….

I’ve got an 08 Wolf Ridge and love it. When you ride it it feels a lot lighter than it is (in a good way) and is easy on the ups. For me it ticked all the right boxes as it’s pretty burly frame and has the Maxle rear axle with adds stiffness but also pedals up hill well and downhills great.

I did the Mega last year on it (well I tried before breaking my self) and loved it whilst I was able to ride!

The only issue I have with it is really only with the components rather than the bike. I changed the Air Pikes over for some coil Lyrics (was after coil Pikes but paid the same for the SH Lyrics) and run them on 140mm anyway. I also found the white rims a bit soft and dent easy if you aren’t careful (similar to DT 5.1 rims though) and the Syncros finishing kit is a bit rubbish. Mine comes in at about 34 lbs with the Lyrics and stock parts. Looking to drop that down a bit when I swap the rims for some lighter Mavic ones.

Yep me too!! 6 times now!!
3 times put back under gas and air and 3 times I had to be knocked out under a general to get it back in!!

After the 5th one I had an operation to tighten the muscles to stop it popping out again which 10 years it was fine then last year in July, I had a silly fall on the Qualifying track at Alp d’Huez and after an hour of no pain killers or pain relief the doctor lady decided to send me to hospital via helicopter and I had a nice little sleep and woke up with it back in!!
Oh normally mine popped out forwards but the last time it went inwards!

I am normally off with arm in sling for 6 weeks but this time with the help of a private physio I got out the sling and back to work after 4 weeks. Back riding now properly but started on the road bike and turbo trainer for a few weeks (about 2 months after the accident). I also swim to help build it back up.
