Will this mod work on the 2017 version does anyone know (Size large, aluminium frame)??

Looks good, especially in those colours. Is that a 2017 or ’18 model?

I’ve really enjoyed riding mine and think for the money (2017 discounted model) probably can’t be beaten. The stock wheels don’t do the rest of it justice though :-)

I can’t seem to find the info I was referring to now Joe, let me know how you get on. Have you ridden it with the Hunts? You gone tubeless on them?

Cheers Joe, very helpful. I’ve been looking at Hunts, prime from crc and some custom ones from cycle clinic (Malcolm Borg) whom is very helpful.

I’ll have a Google to see where I got the assymetric thing from, they also mentioned something when I picked the bike up too.

Well cheers plyphon, one (AE-1200WHD) I hadn’t seen before and soon to be purchased 😁

I’ve got some of those bolle’s but a few year old (look virtually identical if not the exact same model). They are the worst cycling glasses I’ve used, just steam up constantly, offer great protection but could hardly ever see out of them. Ended up just wearing them for descents so could of just worn my DH goggles #enduro :-)

So in typical stw fashion I’m going to recommend the sungod pacebreakers I’ve recently bought. Is 65 quid really that too expensive for a decent pair of glasses?

After losing a pair of expensive specialized adaptalites a few years back I vowed never to go expensive again, but after trying loads of cheap ones I’m glad I went back on that.

In the grand scheme of it all it’s not a huge amount to spend for what I gain. They make the riding more pleasurable, don’t steam up, don’t move about on my head (which most the safety glasses do, and I’ve tried loads) and my eyes don’t water (contact lense wearer).

But each to their own and those that get on with the safety glasses fair play. I wear them at work and certainly don’t want to be wearing them when doing something for fun :-)

Slight thread hijack but where abouts did you get your sectional door from? Did you fit yourself?

Is it me or are these only available in 3 stores?

Not read the rest of the replies. I warrantied my norco sight in April this year, cracked seatstays (common).
Finally got a new frame last week, they were only going to replace the stays but I think the wait was that long they gave in and sent a new frame, took 5 months though. Evans staff were great, the problem is with norco. I wouldn’t buy one again because of this, even tho it was an excellent frame!

Our working cocker does all the things you mentioned. He was brilliant up to around 10 months old, trained to the whistle etc. Then he decided he liked chasing birds more than being with us.
At one point we got that fed up (running off 3-4 fields away, ran across a road, no recall once he’s in the bird chasing mode) he just had walks on the lead, the problem then is he won’t get enough exercise which causes other issues.
As someone said (I skim read through most the posts), get a long training lead and start from scratch again. I still won’t trust ours 100% but it’s getting better, It’s about making you and your playing with him more interesting than what’s been bred into him, ours loves his ball and that is the only thing that will overpower his natural instinct to chase birds.
Cockers are amazing dogs but need a lot of attention and work. When we go away on hols in our camper and he’s with us 24/7 running on the beach and fields every day he’s like a different dog.
Keep at it, the rest of the things like ripping stuff up and going on the settee are the easy bits. We don’t let ours on the settee anymore, it took him a week or so to get used to it but he’s fine now.

I’d considered a croix a few years back but I think the weight puts me off a little, I’ve never had an extended ride on one though and I hear they ride nice. I assume the CDA and the datum would be similar but lighter?

Anyone tried the Genesis carbon Vapour?
Looks pretty good, will also take up to 40c tyres. With some tweaks to the gearing could be decent or am i looking at something too cx focused again?

Scott addict cx (appears to be same frame/geometry as gravel version) is one of the ones I like the look of but prob a bit too spendy.

    What bike is it tillydog?

Ideally I’d want it from one of the brands listed above unless my lbs can order alternative stuff in.

Haha yes ojspiderman, of all the mtbs I’ve owned and ridden over the last 20 years there’s always something better. The point is though I’m not looking for that mountain bike buzz, if I wanted that I’d erm, well, go on one of my mountain bikes. I’m looking for something that can easily do a 100 mile road ride but also do a quick spin on the local disused railway tracks, a loop round round a tame trail centre etc etc, and prob also do the odd ride to work too.

I’m running hope bb and turbine cinch, seems fine. I think I’ve had to wind the preload adjuster a bit further out (well inboard) to take up the slack so something must be slightly different width wise.
I bought the hope tool to install stupidly thinking it would be the same as the raceface, ending up removing the raceface with pipe grips/wrench…

Yes I see your point, a steel hardtail is just the same as any other steel hardtail in that context.
I was talking specifically about the geometry, apologies.
There’s not many companies that offer such a slack ha (combined with a st angle that meant it could also be ridden up hill) steel tubed frame, with a 415mm back end (especially in 650b format).
I believe Dan was one of the first to go down this route (as in that slack with such a short back end), this is how frame geometries evolve and makes our riding experience better. If it wasn’t for companies like this we’d still be on short top tube 70 degree head angle long stem machines, hence the pioneer comment :-)

    Well said Dan.
I’m on my second Stanton, first a slackline now a switchback. The switchback is the the frame that made me give up on full sus for the last 18 months (other than the dh bike of course), and worth every penny. Yes I’d pay the increased price if I was in the market for a new one. These are quality, well thought out/designed frames with great geometry, from a UK brand.
How about supporting one of our pioneering frame designers rather than trying to drag them down?

I’m liking the look of the 650b wheeled version. Comedy names aside there’s no getting away from its a cracking looking bike.
If they were around 1500ish I’d seriously consider one.
How would this compare to say a white gisburn/friston?
I’m wanting a drop bar do it all bike, but reasonably slack. Had a couple of cx bikes and didn’t really get on with them.

    Yes it’s definitely worth it.
    Higher rate tax payer;

1k bike costs you £651.15 (Inc the £70 ownership fee).
Percentage saving over RRP = 34.9%

Just this minute taken directly off cyclescheme website. You can also have an accessories only package. Yes you can also have another bike the following year, you don’t have to wait for the 3 year extended hire agreement (which you pay your £70 for) to end. I’ve used it 3 times up to now.

How on earth people are saying it isn’t worth it still? Even if you went for a sale bike and had to pay the 10% fee on top. Some bike shops don’t charge this fee at all and some less eg j.e.james at 5%

    :-)

In regard to pricing it comes in at £980ish with discounts which is the same price as the only other bike of this spec, the cube attain gtc pro disc.
The cube is heavier though and I prefer the style of the Boardman frame but maybe not the colour scheme though!
So yes there is some great stuff at around 1300ish but I’m not looking to spend that much unfortunately….

So, has anyone actually bought one??? :-)

    jackal

Hmmmm, yes they seem quite long.
If I go for it I’m opting for the 53 (medium) which has an ett of 555. My previous lapierre sensium was 547 ett (size 52 compact geometry), I’m 5’9 3/4″

I can’t find anything else other than the cube attain gtc disc for this sort of money….

Hmmmm will some of the TV’s you’ve linked to actual sit on the TV stand you’ve got (at the angle you need) without one of the legs hanging off the front???
It looks a little awkward as it is now so I’d say you’d be best off getting a new corner TV stand and as said above bring it out a little and you can have what size TV you want then…

    Cheers all.

    mcnulty, how tall are you?

Yes davidt, I do actually fully understand where you’re coming from but….. A) I’m no roadie and B) Not sure where else I’d find a carbon framed, hyd disc and 105 equip’d road bike (that also gets good reviews) for £900???? The gtc attain pro disc doesn’t look ‘that’ bad does it, from a road cyclists point of view I mean?

    Cheers!

As said make sure you’ve not entered it before, single use only even if the transaction wasn’t completed. Ring them up and they will either complete the order over the phone (with discount) or refund the discount back to you if you’ve already completed the order online (I’ve done both in the past and found crc very helpful).

Tomd, AVIVA doesn’t, I’m sure they used to but I asked that specific question on renewal this year. They told me if it’s not in the house/garage then it has to be locked to an immovable object, of which they said a car/van isn’t one, strange logic…. I’d give em a bell and check if I were you.

    Cheers.
I’ve been torn between which size to go for. I’m just under 5’10, gone for a 16.5 as that’s what size Slackline I had a few years back and I believe the switchback is a shade longer? I just hope it’s long enough for some longer days in the saddle….
