On the bright side, at least you'll have time to ride more…

I've used Hope sport and proII hubs for years, and love the sound of mine too..
The current one quietened down a little after I rebuilt it (swapped from 10mm to 12mm axle) which, as said above, is due to the grease on the pawls (only put a little bit on tho)..
Just learn to love it, or get a different hub

The loudest one was on my orange Big T, the swingarm amplified the noise 8)

When you are injured and unable to ride, you can pull out the log book and masturbate over it.

Its not just a step to far, but a huge leap over the too far line.

    Too right.

Just ride the bleeding thing and replace stuff when it wears out.

    Yeh four4ths.
A friend of mine has some, think he rode with the guy that makes them's a couple of times too.
He seems to rate them pretty highly and said build quality was good. Never seen them in action myself tho…

Looks spot on that does, and for the money you can't go wrong, bargain.
Make sure you do it some justice out in the alps

We're out in morzine first week in july, canna wait!

178th in 3hrs 55mins which I'm pretty pleased with, could of done better if I hadn't cramped up so much half way round the second lap…

    Who cares?

Get on your bike and ride it, simples.

    I'll be there.

And I usually suffer from cramp too, looks like i'll be in some pain sunday then.
Hopefully i'll finish, if not i'll of give it my best shot. This'll be my first proper challenge after 6 months off riding (and most other things) due to injury, so i'll be happy just to be out there

If you see someone on the floor, screaming with pain from cramp, with a black/red cannondale prophet mx next to them, then say hi

Never been to whinlatter before, it should be pretty dry then with the weather we've had lately?

    Good luck everyone.

i cant have a light dh bike for herts shore, it needs to be bomb proof!
i was going to keep the hummemr and demo9 for my non work riding

Ahh right, if it's for that sort of north shore/play about/jumpy/teach other people to ride bike then get a freakin bottlerocket

    jackal
    Free Member

Yeh the bottlerocket would be a good choice, proper bombproof all rounder, my mate loves his.

But, i've tried the one bike for everything before, and at the end of the day it'll be a compromise, and I ended up going back to more than one bike.

    I've now settled for;
-A dh bike (built up reasonably light)
-A 140mm travel f/s with double and bash, light enough to ride all day but strong enough to take some hammer.
    -And a bmx

With those three i'm pretty happy, but still miss my cotic bfe…

So, i'd say stick as you are, or just buy a bottlerocket as well

If you rode fast enough then you wouldn't hear the hope hubs or 'tinging' echoing swingarms

Well just buy the one that fits your head the best, simple as that.

Dianese mtb helmets definitely not common in the uk at all, i tried one on in alpe d'huez the other year tho, very light…

    hmmm, no local mx shop?
My local mx shop is a lot more helpful than any of the lbs's round here..

Get an mx helmet, my fox v3 carbon is lighter (and cheaper) than my troy lee d2 composite and a lot better made (plus a spare peak and decent bag).
    Don't think i'd trust a d2 carbon, maybe a d3 but they're heavier and £200 more expensive than my fox v3!

Ride more, and erm, ride more.
Look ahead, where you want to go, not at your front wheel.
If you see an obstacle look past it, not at it, or you will hit it.
Ride with people better than you, and learn off them.
    Learn the basics on flat pedals first;
Unweighting of the rear, manuals and bunny hops (nothing big, just practice the basics of these techniques).
also try and practice trackstands, this will help your balance in the slow speed stuff…
And don't listen to all the people on here telling you that these skills aren't important/aren't needed (because they are, and these moves are the foundation that proper off road riding is built upon)…

Yeh some roadies are ignorant, but then so are some mtb'ers. Depends on the person, not what bike you ride

Its all riding to me, and i love it all, from bmx to downhill to road riding…

Jedi, the newer generation of mx lids are quite light.

I'm using a fox v3 carbon mx lid, slightly lighter than my composite d2 and a lot better made, just slightly more bulky..
I had a troy lee mx lid (se2 I think) a few years back n that was a fair bit heavier but you get used to it.

    Go for it I'd say.

btw, Airoh stelt is about the lightest mx lid you can get, lighter than most mtb full face lids.

My mates got an unused bell moto 8 for sale if you fancy it..?

If you see someone with a bigger bike than you riding the same stuff then you have a right, nay an obligation, to slag them off on stw the following Monday!

Why do you think the rigid singlespeed thing took off? They can slag everyone off!

    Surely some of the most common;

    Spd's or flats?
    Why can't I bunnyhop/jump/manual/etc..?
    Why are car drivers idiots?
What tyre for 'x' trail centre?
Dark side 'blah blah blah'..?

I quite like all the response's to these type of questions, its pretty entertaining sometimes eh

    Some good advice up there.
Hit it with plenty of speed else you may stall and the front will drop, start small and build your way up.
As said above its a similar body position to going into a manual, lean back, heels down, and kind of push the bike away from you (don't wrench up on the bars), look ahead not down..

    Body position like this (crap old pic) maybe;

Depends if it's a sought after item or not, but usual stuff if it's 'as new' then as TJ said around 60% max i'd of thought.
People generally tend to think their second hand mtb stuff is worth more than it actually is!

Its just drilled for, as you say, clearance. No need to waste time/money getting a better surface finish.
Btw, I received one of those pumps from crc last week, its a beast, well pleased with it :D

My mate loves his bottlerocket, looks like it could survive anything, looks especially sweet in 'gray speckle'.
I'm liking the look of the tr450.

Sunline, had no problems with mine what so ever, just be careful when nipping em up.
I run the thin tho (can't stand thick grips) but my mate rides with the thick ones, they do look quite a big dia.

Nothing to worry about cwmcarn at all.
Nothing too technical about it, in fact it gets slated on a lot of 'other' forums for being too easy and not maintained well enough, but i've had some great weekends down there.
Don't worry about your bike being damaged either, it's a proper trailer so your bike/forks won't rub on anything.
Take your full face and if you have some armour that too.

    Have a good un
