    My guess an iridium flare.
Satellite catching the sun, google it there are sites that will tell you exactly when they happen. Which is quite cool when you are out on a night ride.

So you could try that…..google is always right !

Depends if you're going to lug your bike over your shoulder. If so then top routed might be better.

    hed doctors = rubbish bolts

It won't cope with being overtightened. Alternatively swap you nice lightweight kit for some steel bolts from b&q

I got a cheap logik one from comet I think. Can't really complain at the price. Picture is good, records onto a portable hard drive fine. Gripes are: poor sound and reverbs at certain frequencies, cheap remote with rubbish layout and annoyingly illogical menus, doesn't name recorded files with the program title.

Life insurance is about insuring "a life" i.e. an individual. Can have many components, death benefit, critical illness cover etc etc.

if she's a senior physio will she get a good redundancy package ? How long would you be able to live off of that and do you think it will be enough time for her to get back into work?

If you think there will be enough time then income protection might not be worth your while.

The policy I've got is ancient 8 years plus. Its fixed premium. Looked at changing it but the quotes I get now are more than double the premium I'm paying now !

Drac – Critical Illness is usually classed as life insurance.

My advice would be to look into it quick. If big cuts are announced soon then its likely the premium will be upped. Got a Pru policy which paid out for the missus for a few months, dunno if I would recommend it as they totally messed up the claim and took about 3 months to sort it. But I think thats probably par for the course these days.

You have to be dead to claim on life insurance

Not necessarily, some pay out for terminal or critical illnesses…..but yeah, who do the consider that as a "little drama"

    What TJ said.

Aviemore would be a good base. Could tick off some trail centres en-route. GT or Drumlanrig in the borders, Laggan further north. Then you got plenty of great lower level (altitude not ability!) riding around Aviemore if the weather aint great, but still have the option of doing something a bit more wild and remote if you like.

Also gives you the option of stopping off at other good spots along the A9 if you got the time (e.g. Dunkeld & Pitlochry)

Actually a "Right of Way" is a path or road that has been given a legal status to be open (it may be a footpath, or there are some vehicular right of ways too). It predates the open access code and the access rights are legally protected. The Open Access Bill does not mean every path is now a right of way.

To become a right of way, a route has to meet certain legal conditions; in particular, it must have been used by the general public for at least 20 years and must link two public places (usually public roads). Rights of way vary from long hill routes (often historical drove or kirk roads) to local routes used for walking the dog or as short cuts to shops, schools and other local amenities.

Anyway the Scottish biking season is now closed for the winter now and will reopen June 2011.
