A great argument! Yes it’s all about relative risk.
We all know smoking increases the risk of critical illnesses, but why penalise the smoker before they get ill. Why not charge them the same rate for life insurance as non smokers until they actually get ill ?

PS – the OP’s comment around especially males is indeed correct, however an EU ruling has declared this as discriminatory. So unfortunately this is likely to cause an increase in recently qualified females premiums. It will however mean the end of Sheila’s Wheels annoying TV ad…..every cloud and all that.

Possible but there will no doubt be penalties, how much depends on your product. Unless you’ve got a huge mortgage and have a big lump sum to pay in or you have found a very good deal I would imagine that your penalties and charges will far outweigh any savings you will make over the next 8 months from your new mortgage.

Check your conditions, but be prepared to bite the bullet and wait till the end of the fixed period when you are free to move.

Half a dozen of the feckers from an mid summer’s evening ride wouldn’t be uncommon around my neck of the woods.

Last time I flew easy jet with a bike (summer 2009), I chucked shoes, shorts, pads, helmet, camel back and gloves in with the bike and didn’t have a problem. Box was a couple of Kg under the limit and they didn’t open it.

I think you will get royally rogered if you have to buy extra at the airport.

mt — Yes they’ve run a minority government for a full term…..otherwise how could they justify NOT having had a referendum 😉 There have been some pretty major stumbling blocks, last year’s budget IIRC, but on the whole there is a much better spirit of cooperation in Holyrood than Westminster
