is there any evidence that a vote either way would lead to further/more electoral reform?

As previous posters have said: A NO vote will be interpreted as a vote in favour of the FPTP system.

From Sunday’s Andrew Marr show with Dave Cameron

AM – Will a No vote put an end to electoral form for a generation?
    Dave – (some waffley caveat)…Yes

it’s a miserable little compromise and in no way a step towards full PR

Although a NO vote will kill any electoral reform for the next 20 years (including PR).

I thought these had been banned in the UK. He’s probably breaking the law just by owning it.

At £15 quid a pair, I’d be tempted to change them. Its quick and easy.

If its only a week away you’ve not really got much time left.
You should have been asking these questions a year ago.
    Good luck though.

Arguably they could have achieved more by putting the Conservatives in as a minority government. OK they wouldn’t have got a referendum on electoral reform, but that’s already been watered down to AV and not PR. They also wouldn’t have had to back pedal quite so hard on University.

Principled politics are useless if you aren’t at the table.

You don’t have to be in a formal coalition to bring your principles to the table.

Lib Dems have sold out and swapped principled politics for a self indulgent moment in power.

Quite true, but have you listened to the program?

Yes and it confirmed what’s been said previously on this thread, in that there is a huge amount of conjecture about the number of fatalities due to Chernobyl. The program was quite balanced on this and presented both view points; from confirmed deaths of up to about 50 individuals to projected additional cancers and deaths of 40 000 and 16 000 respectively. It did not draw conclusions on the overall cancer/deaths.

It also touches quite well on the social, psychological and economic impacts on the community.

    Nuclear Eternity
Interesting documentary on burying nuclear waste in Finland, screened on More4 last week. The overall premise being a letter to the future civilisations on earth. Assuming that, as the site has to be sealed for 100 000+ years, our civilisation will long since have gone.

    Edit – too slow….!

Edit – No actually I think “soon” has the most thesaurus entries. Which isn’t the same.

Didn’t know that. But I think that a “British Subject” was different to a “British Citizen”.

and Phil himself carried British Citizenship from birth.

Are you sure ? I don’t think he did.

1946 saw the future Duke of Edinburgh returning to Britain to take up a staff officer position at Greenwich Naval College. The following year he took up British citizenship and that is when he changed his surname to Mountbatten“…… as opposed to being from the House of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg 😯

Well, a more meritocratic society without such deeply entrenched class divisions perpetuated by the retention of an elitist undemocratic system of rule might be a tad more ‘free’, so yes, basically

It would take a whole lot more than the removal of the monarchy to achieve that. Even if you go all the way there’s no guarantee you’ll get what you want in a “more free society”.

..and do you think the removal of the monarchy would solve this?
