    Warranty?

    In case of manufacturing defects.

Read about someone returning a faulty chain just last week and KMC sent out a replacement before they’d even received the duff chain just from discussions via e-mail with the customer.

Will have to be only 1 chain as the rest of the cash will be blown on lube!!!!

Just get some chaps for your commute, should keep you dry at the front at least.

    Hope that helps.

Cheers reggiegasket, seen that seller when having a look in the past.

I’ll have another look and see what the price of the X10L is on E-Bay and other stores, really don’t want to try and save a few grams with the SL and regret it part way through a ride when it fails.

Cheers for that but on a budget from left over Christmas money from the missus.
Got a new cassette and shadow+ mech waiting to go on once the weather improves a bit and I have a chain to complete the setup, don’t have heaps of cash to blow but want to get good quality and a bit of a bargain at the same time.

Hard to tell between the different Asian sellers which are good and which are suspect.

I assume one bought from Asia wouldn’t be covered by the KMC warranty but at £25 it’s probably worth a punt.
I’ve seen the X10 L for around £25 from one of the UK online sellers and wasn’t sure if it was worth going for the superlight version as it’s going on a 120mm FS.

How long did it take to arrive from Asia out of interest?

I had Crests on my Hope Pro 3s and felt they were on the light flexy side, could’ve been down to the low spoke count, now have Arch Ex rims on Pro2s and the seem much better for the type of riding I do(trail centre reds and blacks).

You could get the Flows rather than the beefier Flow EX, Crests and Arch EX rims are both 21mm wide whereas the Flows are wider (23mm I think) and more suited to tougher usage, Flow EX are over 25mm wide.

Are they discontinuing the standard Flows?

I got a POC Trabec Race for Christmas, have a look on Amazon, they had a decent discount when I got mine!
I had a Giro Hex before and the POC feels amazing in comparison, hopefully I won’t need to test it’s crash absorbing capabilities!!

I would probably end up buying on line unless they can price match.
Really want to try one on 1st, loved the fit and feel of the POC but the Urge looks intetesting and better priced.

I do have quite a small head for my height/build and currently have a Giro Hex in a medium so will just need to find an Urge for fit.
Don’t want to buy one off CRC in case it doesn’t fit as will be an xmas present from the other half.

Solo ride doing the Glentress black trail today. Great day’s biking, perfect weather but a little soggy on the ground in places!

Quite the slog up this hill, the picture doesn’t do the gradient justice.

My old carbon hardtail 21″ frame and I’m 6’4″.

I’ve just bought a pair of the latest ones and am very impressed.

I suffer from knee problems and having shorts that cover the knee keeps them warm and makes a big difference for me.

I have 2 pairs of normal Humvees which are a size large but needed to go up a size on the 3/4s. Don’t know if Endura have changed their sizing or if the 3/4s are on the neater side.

They have changed the liner and find it much better fit and comfort levels are improved as the pad seems better.

    Would definitely recommend them.

I’m clearly delicious to bugs (over 300 midgie bites over the summer) and tried Avon Skin So Soft and it does work but found it made me sweat buckets.

If the bites are bothering you then I’d take an antihistamine (the 1 aday non-drowsey type Tesco own brand are cheap but effective.

I’d too would bin the red bits, the tyres, the flat pedals and the charge saddle! and get some nicer stuff!

Going to hard to cycle with no tyres, pedals or saddle though 😆

When you see the actual bike the red bits look good against the green, but who would have a green bike in the 1st place?

Brilliant day’s biking yesterday, bit cold (-1 C) to start with until the fog lifted but epic once up the trail a bit.

The 1st tree down on the boundary trail is particularily dangerous, right at head height and just once you’re starting to pick up a bit of speed in the shade of the trees.

Think I might give the FC a call today before someone gets really badly hurt by not spotting it!

It’s a brand new frame and I wouldn’t be bodging anything.

I’m pretty sure Hotlines are owned by CRC and Hotlines are the main if not sole distributers for Ragley. Surely they can get a replacement frame easily enough as a warranty case, may even get a 2013 frame as a replacement.
If no luck from CRC or Hotlines I’d be contacting Ragley direct as it’s a reflection on them as a brand.

Lovely green Santa Cruz Nomad that’s been in the classifieds recently, was just reduced to £2k.

I think what he meant that the facilities at the moment at Laggan are not being maintained, as in the shop has next to no stock and the toilets are a disgrace TBH. The actual facilities are just what’s needed for mountain bikers just if they were up to scratch.
Glentress has it’s plus points and negatives, the washrooms etc are clean, warm and well lit which is great to get yourself sorted after a long ride but the shop and cafe are appealling to a different (weekend warrior) crowd not the sort that liked the rough and ready approach of the old Hub.

    Which shifters are fitted?
I’m considering doing this to my Nerve XC8 (double and bash using existing 24, 32 rings) but have changed the SLX shifters to XT and can alter the shifter from a triple to double.
Thought I might not even have to alter the front mech limit screws doing it this way.

    j40aja

I got a Nerve XC8 in July and it’s a fantastic bike with great spec/VFM, well saying that I’m doing my usual and upgrading bits fairly quickly (wheels, brakes, saddle, bars, grips, shifters, tyres and a reverb so far!).
So far I’ve done Glentress red and black bits, Dalbeattie, Kirroughtree, Carron Valley and Laggan and it manages everything easily.
Light enough on the ups and confidence inspiring going down.

Don’t worry about buying blind check the geometry against your old bikes as a guide for size and contact the U.K service centre if you have any questions.

Cheers for that and the pics, I had a 2012 XT double set up on my hardtail but that was a conventional front mech and double specific 40,28t chainset.
Really don’t want to have to buy a new chainset and as you’ve said it would look horrendous just removing the big ring.
I think it will work but might have to end up either getting a double front mech or adjusting the limit screws to stop it fouling on the bash.

    j40aja

I didn’t think I could change the height of the front mech as it screws directly to the frame(Canyon Nerve XC).
Does altering the shifter to the double setting mean it will default to the outer and middle rings rather than what I want which is middle and granny?
I’m not changing the middle ring so the mech will be right for what rings(32 and 24)are already fitted. Will it foul on the bash?

I have seen others with the Hope bash guard fitted to the 2012 XT triple so not concerned about that.
My bike does have an E type mech (I think) with the bracket removed and fits directly to the frame, so it might mean a double specific mech but hoped the shifter option might solve that issue. I thought with the shifter changing to a double option that I won’t have to adjust the mech stops at all.

Was a great day all in. We’ll find the ice cream place next time.

Must have been a strange isolated cold breeze at that particular moment!

I’m running MK2 Racesport Black Chilli 2.2 front and back and really like them on my full susser, I had X Kings Racesport Black Chilli 2.2 front and back on my carbon hardtail so have a direct comparison.
The X kings roll faster but not massively so and the MKs grip better over rocks etc. Where I noticed the biggest improvement going to the MKs was cornering on banked berms, they just grip much better and give extra confidence over the X kings.
My mate has RQs on his Nomad and he absolutley loves them but they would be just a bit big and slow rolling for going up on my XC bike.

I’ve got a brand new wheelset in the classifieds at the moment,
DT Swiss X1700 15mm front and QR rear. Pretty sure the front can be converted to QR if needed.

MY e-mail is in my profile if you’re interested!

    Cheers,

Halfords have the Boardman FS Pro reduced (£300 off) so now only £300 more than the Team!

Seems a bit of a bargain at £1299.99!

I guess if you’re like me and like to change components for new bling or like to make your bike your own then go for the 7 but if you think you’ll upgrade only when parts wear out then go for the 9.

I’ve just received my XC8.0 and it’s a cracking looking bike, maiden ride tomorrow!!

I’ve just had my Canyon Nerve XC8.0 delivered this week and it’s a great looking bike and the kit is fantastic for the money.

1st proper ride this weekend at Glentress so will know better by Sunday what it’s like on the trails but feels good around the car park!!

Service and communication from Canyon were excellent so don’t be put off buy buying direct (Cullen at their UK office is very helpful and quick at replying to e-mails).

I had some delivered this week from Merlin but same as the ones in the classifieds (silver pro2s).
They came in at £327 and some pennies. I guess it depends which spokes you want but I went for the ACI black DB. You will need some rim tape though so factor that into the price.

Really nice build and great delivery (2 days from ordering).

    I fitted some this morning.

As I could tell the silver bit is recessed so only fits in one way and can only fit onto one side of the rotor, then simply lay the locking strips on top lining up the holes, put the screws in, tightened and fold over the edges of the locking tabs.

I used them last year to get a set of Sids serviced. Very impressed with the service and results. They even let me drop them off and pick them up.
Turn around was only 2 days too. Price is the same if you pick them up or get them posted.

Really helpful and even gave me advice about setup pressures too.

I have just removed a set today from my Easton EA70 bars from my Canyon Nerve XC.

They certainly seemed to fit fine before removing them, must be as already stated a problem with your clamps.

Why should someone have to bleed brakes themselves when they come back from a warranty repair?

If you car was put into the dealer for a brake issue which required a new caliper would you expect to have to bleed the brakes to have them working properly? I think not

Shimano obviously at fault mostly but Rose should’ve inspected them prior to dispatch. I’d be really annoyed as the O.P rightly is too.
