    I’ve got a 2018 Scultura disc 7000e which replaced a Defy Advanced 1.
The Merida is better in every way but going to Di2 hydraulic Ultegra probably helps.
Mine has the CF4 frame which is stiffer than the CF2 on the lower models.
Bike rides exceptionally well and power delivery is excellent.

I’ve used Hunters in Linlithgow for years and they’re VW Audi specialists, reasonably priced and not back street rip off merchants.

I’ve got a Record No.1 mechanics vice if you’re interested then give me a shout. Work in Edinburgh so can meet you somewhere.

If you’re in Edinburgh I might be able to help you out, not sure what sizes I have but definitely have a larger version kicking about.

It’s based on a Mondeo so you can Google issues with them if there isn’t much online about the Mazda.
Mazda do their own engines though so they’ll not have the same issues.

That’s the problem, I need insurance at least at £220. Pushes the price up considerably.

Checked myhermes and the size allowed is more once you go up a weight range, with insurance looking at about £13 which isn’t too bad.
Parcelforce 48 was cheaper until you add the insurance!!

Cheers, they were the next option I’d thought of. Guess I need to measure the boxes and take it from there.

I’ve a set of DT Swiss R23 Spline discs for sale, done abut 200 miles and in as new condition.
They came fitted to my Merida Scultura Disc 7000-e and have 12mm axles front and rear, centrelock but with 6 bolt adaptors.
Email is in my profile if you’re interested for pics etc.

We’ve had a 63 plate 150 bhp TDI Fr from new. 62k miles and it’s been brilliant.
A few little warranty things sorted no problem. Pretty quick good controls and comfy sports seats.
The paint seems very easily chipped and marked.
Our lease ends in Septembe and might try a Golf GTD for a change.

I’m going through this with CRC at the moment. Ordered on the 4th and took until the 8th to be dispatched via Collect Plus. Today is the 12th and still no sign, in fact it was sent to the wrong depot in Dagenham when I live near Edinburgh.
Really not great service and worse than I’ve ever had from CRC.
Looks like it’ll be Wednesday at the earliest it’ll arrive which is 10 days.

I’ve just been out on it again tonight and it’s definitely the buttons and in particular the smaller top buttons on both levers.
If I sit my index fingers on the top buttons the noise stops but that’s not practical really.

Worth a try, will have a tinker and see if it helps, strange it’s both levers and seems like both buttons.

Looks like a trip to my LBS but hope I don’t have to send them back as I bought the bike from Holland as they don’t do my size in the UK.

I sold my Defy and got a Merida Scultura Disc 7000-e, they do the 6000 for about £2.5k with Ultegra and hydros which is lovely.

Cheers sillyoldman! Might need to see how much an unused set of R23 discs go for!

Are the RR21 dicuts worth the extra over the R23 discs?
I’ve just bought a Merida Scultura disc 7000-e which came with R23 discs and was thinking of selling them before using them in favour of the rr21 dicuts.

I’ve got a set of a year old Light Bicycle UD gloss 24mm carbon rims laced to white Novatec hubs using Pillar spokes that I’m moving on once they come back from my LBS.
I wanted to change all the alloy nipples with brass DT Swiss which is why they’re at the LBS.I’ve since bought a set of CK R45 disc hub’d wheels with Archetype rims in the mean time so the LB are surplus.

The LB wheels weighed in at ~ 1450g with the alloy nipples so will be slightly heavier with the brass, QR front and rear and 28 spokes.

Email in my profile if you are interested.

Well my reply to Light Bicycle must’ve had an effect as they emailed me this morning saying they’d spoken to their manager and have agreed to replace the rim FOC.
Think I’ll have to cover courier and customs costs but that’s fair enough then get it built up.
Think I’ll get both wheels redone with brass nipples this time, hopefully I can reuse all the spokes but wouldn’t be the end of the world to replace them at the same time.

Yep aluminium nipples and no I didn’t fill in a warranty registration form.
They seem to be claiming it’s from the order date which means I only got 10 months with them in my possession.

Sent an email back trying to explain the situation especially as I’ve only done 200 miles max on them.

I have the Merida you’ve linked to above and it’s a lovely bike, lots of nice details especially the shapes of the tubing.
I use mine as a bad weather/winter road bike to keep my carbon Defy for good days.

I’ve got a very good condition FSA SLK 27.2 350mm long 20mm setback carbon seatpost if you’re interested.

    Looking for £30 posted.

Email is in my profile for pics etc.

    Cheers,

    Alan.

Angels and Bagpipes on the Royal Mile/High Street.
We had our Christmas meal there last year and the food and service were very good.

I’ve got a pair of Hope Race X2 140 rotors if you fancy?
They’ve covered less than 100 miles on my disc road bike.

You can remove the end cap then the outer fingers which splay out and are held in place by a spring can be manoeuvred out using long nosed pliers.
Pretty simple to remove once the cap is off.

Jigsaw with a very fine blade will work fine. I use a circular saw with 96 teeth or a bandsaw at work and cuts fine. The schools use the circular saw for cutting up acrylic sheets for the pupil’s projects.
Masking tape works well for marking your line, just take it easy and let the blade cut so light pressure.

I’ve just ordered a Merida 2016 500 Cyclocross as mentioned above.
Saw it in the shop getting built up and it’s gorgeous.
Pick it up on Tuesday. Bang on budget, TRP Spyres and 105 gears except Shimano RS500 chainset.

Maintenance Engineer (acting unit manager) for local authority. I look after all the woodwork and metalwork machinery in the local secondary, special schools and adult education centres.
I love problem solving and fixing stuff but the red tape and newly added additional paperwork is mind numbing. Loads of great people who do thankless jobs for local government who at times can be the only good thing until the weekend.

My brother picked up his ST2 diesel in dark blue last week.
Still at the running in phase but looks lovely. Not huge in side but he’s a big chap at 6’6″ and doesn’t have the seat all the way back. Boot is obviously smaller than his Mondeo estate he traded but should fit a bike with the front wheel off.

If you can get a Hegner then that’s what I’d get. Scheppach are ok but you can get a Clarke one which is exactly the same but cheaper.

I had this exact thing last week on a new Ritchey WCS 4 axis stem. I removed the screws and hacksawed off the end couple of threads, filed the rough edges and checked the threads on a nut rather than checking it on the stem’s threads.
Now spot on, no more cut knees.

Wheels came in at 1440 grams on my digital kitchen scales which was just a little over the claimed weight.
Can’t change the seat post as it’s Giant’s D shaped type, I might change the stem as it felt a little long yesterday but would probably go matt black Ritchey C260 Superlogic to match the bars.
Tyre logos are opposite the bars but will look at the rear mech cable.
Pedals naturally rotate as they’re weighted but the cranks are level.

Enjoy the stag do, hope it’s not too brutal.

Bottle cage was in the 1st photo but it’s a white and red Giant number 😉

Wheels came in at £427ish posted! I seem lucky to have dodged any import duty/Parcelforce fee which would’ve added another £30-£40.
They took a while to arrive as I ordered them just before the Chinese New Year but they were a pleasure to deal with, would definitely recommend them.

    Need to align your stem

Trick of the photo angle unless you mean slamming it? It feels right to ride so at the moment will be staying as is given the geometry isn’t a race setup anyway.

6’4″ with 35″ inside leg but my bikes always look bigger in pictures than in the metal.
