I’m suggesting a whole new BB area. Not technology to fit the existing BB size. The G-boxx requires a whole new frame design with the boxx becoming part of the stressed frame. Does anyone know why the G-boxx has been designed to be remote from the crank spindle?

A Rohloff may be, I’m not sure of the diameter, but smaller hub like the Alfine wouldnt be any more than the 36t-or-so chain ring usually run with a geared hub. Definitely smaller than a 44t.

    Slight hijack.
I have never understood why a rohloff or other geared hub has never been put in place of a bottom bracket. I don’t mean like a G-boxx or remote gearbox but the pedals connected directly to the G.B. axle.
This method linked to a traditional freewheel would eliminate a lot of drag. Biggest benefit would be repostioning the inherent weight to the centre on the bike.

Sympathy spankmonkey. I only cracked mine and was two weeks off the bike and ached at least once a day for six months, especially when rolling onto them. Lots of milk and gentle exercise.

Just buy a good Shimano one. They are good and not too expensive. 18 months so far on the original. Same with my GXP on other bike. I seem to have been lucky.

It is getting very hard to be bothered watching it.
Although it was all change in terms of teams at the front I thought Sunday was still much of a precession.

    Prevailing winds are S-W.
Look on the bright side, it means the winds are warm. And wet. And result in our crap climate on the south west coast. 🙂

DTC = Dual (tread?) Compound – sticker rubber on the outside edges.
Lite = eh? lightweight. So thinner side walls probably. weaker.
Dont think they are front or rear specific as they all have the same tread pattern.
only form what I’ve seen on the website so could be wrong.

Hope thats correct and helps. I’m considering myself over Maxxis Advantage.

I’ve heard of the shallow breathing norm for inactive periods. My confusion is why I switch to low down breathing, like i’m filling my belly in a fat boy competition and forget to fill the top of my lungs unless I breath through my nose. Just found it strange that I noticed it recently while running of all things.

I used SS blend pads all last year. Early purchase of 4 sets in Nov 07 lasted me from before till recently. Worked very well maybe not as powerful as some. Put some EBC on front at short notice and I’ve just went for their sintered on the back. They feel just the same and at half the price so I’m happy.
    BTW
    Pads bedded in ‘properly’.
    I’m a Late braker.
    I Avoid dragging.
    Keep them clean.

The trail is still exciting if you follow the route but people are losing the route but cutting corners, and avoiding puddles. My point is it has been used by riders for years but as mtb has become more popular people are being lazy and destroying the established line.
I do all of the above solutions. 1, 2, 3, and at the same time 😀
CW, the trails aren’t illegal, just not a manmade trail.

I’m not diagnosing the problem absolutely, there is a lot going on at the derailleur and many items can be adjusted to fine tune your shifting. I’m just saying that with a sloppy upper jockey mygears was skipping and wandering off the cog. By changing it (molgrips, I may have swapped it with another jockey) the problem was solved.

Good stuff then. Nice fast flowing trails. My preference, with the odd steep or drop added in. 🙂

Is the shop a certified spesh service centre? if there is such a thing.
If not then is out of order but not sure what you can do other than prove the service was not ‘sold’ as described.

Get on your knees and look at the actual gears from behind. If the jockey wheels are in line with the cassette, how will they cause it to skip. They are only there to take up chain slack

Rubbish! the lower takes up slack of the chain. The upper directs the chain on to the cog, how else do you suppose changeing gear. if the upper cog has enough play/is not close enough to the cassette cog then it can fall out of gear. As Gary-M says it can happen. Granted you primarily need to make sure you gears are set up correctly.

Nice vid. Look like good flowing trails.
As Buzz says, Nice sensation of speed, but is it sped up a bit. Sorry if thats insulting its just that some of the crests looked as if you should be jumping at that speed. Still all good.

There’s meant to be side-to-side movement in the top one (guide pulley).

My chain was slipping/dropping out of gear because there was too much movement in the top Jocky. swapped with bottom and problem was solved.
    Keep them clean!

Altura Nightvision is great. Very tough and reflective bits are very bright. Available in hi vis yellow if required (yuck ). Not the most breathable but has pit vents adn its low cost. cant have everything. Other option is the Endura Gridlock or Luminite.

But its the same as cars as far as I’ve witnessed.
BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar(jag),ferrari etc are all refered to by there onwers in reference to the make and not the model
I’ve never hear a Ford or Vauxhall owner refer to the make, they would say my modeo of focus or vectra etc.
    It a show of superiority.
I’m Non apple owner. My car, my phone, my road/commute bike, my mountain bike type of person.

I was amazed that a recession or major slowing of the market didnt happen sooner. I held off buying for a year thinking that the drop was coming. I bit the bullit and bought in 2005 and it still kept going up for another 3 years.
my point is that those who were predicting it were either coincidental/lucky or had been saying it for a long time. Prices may still have been going if northern rock hadn’t got into trouble and America hadn’t crashed and if the ritish banks hadn’t over extended themselves and we hadn’t bought all the houses at the price people (agents) were expecting and people kept spending and the governent……….

    you see my point?

But people are trading off the massive increase that their previous property has made. Also if you have two single people getting together then that equity is even larger. It is easily achievable for a 30YO to have bought a property early and made a huge profit then put the equity to a new property and taken a max mortgage.
Its not right but its one way that fueled the massive increases, as long as there were people to buy the cheaper property.

they are rockshox of some sort as they have the blackbox motion sticker on them – most likely lyrik DFR’s

its easy to get stickers and blackbox don’t have any lyrik options, for general sale at least. they are 36’s. That brace is a give away.

Are they coils or floats? How does the change it height, if any effect the steering? I considered this set up myself when I was considering a pitch but then the crunch hit.

looks good…the way it should be IMHO.

Is it just me that thinks Spooky Wood is WAY over rated. It just too pedally unless dry as a bone. I much prefer Shane mcGowan and after. Everything after Spooky is good though.
