Ratchets all the way. Easier to adjust (one step at a time) by loosening as your feet gets hot or moves about and you want it tighter. Never had them jam and not had to replace anything. Ran for two years now. Commuted in them 5 days a week for a year of that.

Can anyone tell me if the deraileurs are 9 speed compatible or just 10 speed?

Just want to give my thanks to those doing maintenance at Mugdock. Rode ther for the first time in nearly 6 months. Would love to lend a hand at meet ups but work prevents it. Will do some clearing on my own when I get the chance.

Again, ridden a medium cage for 2 years. Only big-big is not viable.

Did it last Saturday. It’s longer and rougher but not as ‘modern’ as the red. Not as ‘modern’ I mean that there are very few jumps and berms.
Its relatively easy from a technical point of view but the length of it has you tired by the end.
Give it a go but make sure you take enough food to keep you energized so that you can enjoy the descents of the second half.

OMG. How inept do you have to be to become a Canadaian GP steward. Some really retarded, ill-considered judgements that whole weekend. Looks like the organisers just stood outside a supporters club the night before randomly asking for volunteers.
FFS even Wimbledon ball boys are trained to pick up a stray tennis ball ‘properly’.

I’m in the same predicament as the earlier posts: Hero towards end on contract. TBH I’m not totally happy with the prospect of either considering the price.
Having used my GF’s Galaxy S I really like a lot about the UI. SGS2 is supposed to be better still. Read about the sensation having some animation glitches which is unacceptable for such a powerful phone but then it does have the higher resolution which I think is the big stumbling block that the SGS does not. SGS2 is quite plastic while the Sensation is pretty solid.
If taking a two year contract I want it very future proofed. Also, I’m not sure if the Sensation is even in 2.3 yet.
I think I’ll be waiting either for a SGS2 with higher res. or sorted sensation/next HTC.

Common route for me is/was up through mugdock on the trails the other side of craigallian loch from the WHW then take the foot path to the left before the huts. Cross the Cullits Road and head along the top of the cliff towards Auchingillan. Out on to the road and towards QV carpark but take the road on the left just before you get there towards the end of that road there is an access road to the top but it is now ‘closed’ at the top by high plantation fence. Across the top of the hill then down the tourist path to the QV carpark. Back along the road and through Mugdock as you wish.
Not truely circular but doesn’t cover the same paths too much.
I’m sure others will have alternative routes.

Not sure on the pro and power saving but switching the “Airplane mode” on stops the phone continuously updating to the web.(HTC Hero – yes that is how aeroplane is spelt on it) This made a massive difference, over 100% improvement in the battery consumption. However nobody can monitor your progress during your ride. It still updates with all the same info once you reconnect.
Good on you if you decide to support.

Popped an inner tube at 100psi on a road wheel where I had not seated the tyre properly. The tube blistered out the side and went BANG!. I wasn’t even looking at it as the GF was talking to me. see, it was her fault. I’m surprised someone didn’t report gunfire, it was that loud.

Love the fact that they still have the Camelbacks on for the indoor wilderness riding.

AFAIK the ti cartridge offers similar performance advantages as a PUSH upgrade on the old rev or pike MC damper. That cost £100+ and people paid for the upgrade. The standard MC unit is perfectly fine but riding a pike on my usual terrain just now I’d seriously consider the ti option if I had the cash.

I got some Tacx jockeys with bearings for £7.99. Seem good and better than the SLX bushed one they replaced. They seem to hold on to mud though.

I have been waiting to enter as I’m redundant and skint but will enter as soon as the I have the money. I’m surprised that the event has not been filled straight away judging by some threads I’ve read on here. I have a lot of faith for the series and itching to take part. I did the Ae Avalanche last year and loved it. The atmosphere was brilliant especially the Saturday qualifying. I have been informed it’ll technically be a step above that but still perfectly rideable by most people.
Amos – 140mm travel FS bike for me and I have no reservations about the terrain so your soul will be fine.

It’s a convenient and simple solution, however, as one of the comments suggests, there are consequences to consider. The frame/wheel will be sitting further into the travel possibly effecting the pedal efficiency and increasing pedal bob. Also starting the travel stroke further into the travel might cause elements to clash. ie my bikes seat stay yoke would hit my seat tube at full travel.

Great if it works for you though.

Everything I’ve read so far suggests Revs are not as stiff as Pikes. Only you know if you ride stuff where you’ll feel the difference.
Lighter and more travel would seriously tempt me if price wasn’t a factor but they are so expensive. A push upgrade seems better value.

Same here on an HTC Hero. Several pages in and freezes and force close. seems worse with picture heavy pages. Only happen since this morning so My guess is a add on or script or advert.
Or the hero not supporting something new on t’internet.
Chrome seems fine on my computer.

Its alright if you like fire road riding. Quite a short loop with not too much technical features until the last quarter. BIG fire road climb then you loose half your height on more fire road then is a fairly steep single track descent back to the car park.
Here’s an old write up of the route.
its worth pushing up towards the cobbler/Ben Narnain if you like descents.

Ardgarten peninsula route is another fire road heavy climb worth doing in the immediate area much better views but its also much longer.

Real Shame but they really are over priced compared to the competition but one of the few manufacturers to do coloured kit made them attractive.

It’s a good experience but learn how to get of the boarding safely, yourself and your bike. It’s not high but some of it is very skinny. A friend was unlucky enough to catch his disk rotor and bent it at 90deg along with some tangled limbs.
It’s quite far away from the main trails.
Have the qualifier sections that come down the hill been opened up/replaced?

My default cornering is terrible. Flat pedals and lazy hips. Only do it correctly when concentrating.

+1 Looking down while jumping but only on the smaller jumps thank goodness. Big jumps have me staring wide eyed and straight ahead with fear.

Hi, Hero here myself and I’ll be able to renew in May, However I’ll be waiting till 3rd or 4th quarter.
I’m not fully up to speed just now but I know there are some serious power house phones coming out middle of the year and onwards. Duel core LG optimus being the first and HTC are readying one as well but may be nearer the end of the year.
If you cant wait then the Nexus S Galaxy S which its based on are still some of the best phones and the Nexus S will probably be best supported by updates. I’d wait.

World Mobile Conference is in the next couple of weeks so keep and eye on the web and see if anything catches your eye.
