    Love it.

93% of would be bikers pass the test – perhpas because they prepared for it?

Stoner does not – therefore the test is at fault. the fact that other people whinge about it is proof

Maybe stoner, not unreasonably, thought the test would have some relevance to the real world, i.e. spot a hazard, respond right away. Not wait for the computers window of acceptance.

    Ok

Stoner is the safest driver in the world. His failure to pass the hazard perception test does not show a lack of preparation for it but as he obviously is a safe driver well prepared for the test then the test must be at fault – its the only answer

the fact that 93% of would be bikers doing the test pass it first time is neither here nor there. there is nothing else Stoner could have done to prepare, the only possible answer is the test is at fault. After all how could stoner possible be at fault at all?

    Thanks for admitting you’re wrong.

I am not the one who failed a test them blames the structure of the test for his failure!

Because you’ve never done the test!

I cilcked once for every EMERGING hazard on my test and did not get penalized despite clicking a lot of times.

Also, yes I think 40% of driver instructors probably arent safe to be driving on the roads. Driving is something most people can “do” but really cant do correctly. My standards are obviously higher than most.

Post suggests you haven’t been driving long, what research did you do to agree with that 40% figure?

Yup – but its easy to see what they intend you to see and to click on them when they are obvious. I didn’t click on the hazards they don’t have down as hazards

Edit – yes 30 or so on each clip. ( roughly) Any pedestrian, any vehicle at a junction, any parked car with someone in it. any unusual object at the roadside, anything creating a blindspot like a van parked at the roadside or a tree.

You must be a riot at parties.

Oh yeah, well done crutchlow, superb result again.

Only sort of – best of the also rans and well beaten by his teammate

Surely stoner best of the also rans, i.e. not on podium, but yeah cal got dropped a bit. His overall position in the championship looks good tho.

bellerophon, I’ve got a 2000 SP1 with PC3 fitted, most i’ve ever got was 110 miles on a tank. Light had been on for about 15 miles. Ace bike tho and you do sometimes see the 23 liter endurance tank on ebay.

I had the same problem with pro 2, was a front hub tho. Heated it up in oven then drifted out the remains with a park metal tyre lever, the curved tip just caught enough of the race.

In the 27.2 size theres nothing better, i must’ve spent £200 plus, on posts that bent in normal use. Before buying a thomson at £60 which TBH isn’t that much. I’m sure the easton it replaced was more expensive.

Yep it’s a mess, along with a mate I’ve been up with a chainsaw clearing some of the trails, there’s a ton of work still to be done tho. We’ve only really cleared 1 section, and 2 re-routes were required. I’ve heard pitmeddan is similarly affected.

don’t throw used condoms away, they make great chewing gum for cats. (from viz)
Make jeans last longer by not sharpening razors on them. (my own)

Not really, only 1 person distributes thompson posts, everyone else is wondering why their lighter, stronger, cheeper, better made posts can’t sell in the same way.

Care to name a brand that is lighter, stronger, better made and cheeper than a thompson, serious question as was thinking of a thompson for my reign as the one on my hardtail has been so good.

One other thing, the top-out spring for the Coil U-Turn Sektor is actually part of the rebound damper assembly, so if you get a harsh top-out, you may need to look at upgrading that as well, which would be expensive.

Are you sure about this? Spring in left leg and damping in right leg on most rockshox.

You can buy a u-turn spring assy for 150mm sektor’s off ebay for about £40 delivered, looks an easy enough job. Plenty of sram guides on their website and youtube, but i don’t know if that specific job is covered.

But its ok for someone to be caught bang to rights dodging their fare, then inconvenience hundreds of people, (and the delays extended to much more than that one train) by refusing to accept the easy way out and just get off the dam train. Even if the police had got him, scotrail will never recover the cost of the delay he caused because its hundreds of pounds. Then he comes on here and posts his “version” of the story implying that the guard is incompetent and he’d been assaulted. What a ****, I’m embarrassed that he’s a mountain biker.

The force used was reasonable, the police would’ve probably maced him. And he’s lying about having a proper ticket. He didn’t.

    j-cru

You didn’t have a ticket, the guards eyesight was good enough to see all the other tickets on the train were valid. You caused a lot of delay on the one of the busiest lines in scotland. Got of lightly IMO.

maxles won’t stop the rear stays or fork legs being pushed together if a heavy weight is put on it as the axle only has expanding/threaded section at 1 end.

TPWS stops the train after passing a red signal

Does it? I seem to remember being asked to sit next up front to verify every signal to the driver when this got switched off for whatever reason. (This was nearly 15 years ago though)!

    15 years ago and I’m thinking of AWS aren’t I. [/quote]

TPWS, if fitted to a signal, will stop a train which has passed it at danger. AWS stops it if driver doesn’t acknowledge an alarm in time.

“While you are not wrong about leaf mulch in autumn causing grip issues, the real danger lies in its insulative properties, ie the signalling system can briefly loose detection of a train.”
Wrong side track circuit failures far less common than rail head contamination causing poor brake effect, but yes very dangerous, also theres no alarm given to a signaller by the system if this happens.

Experienced a very heavy landing at Edinburgh few years back in awful weather. Pilot earned his pay that day.

Very old stock might have tyres, all modern wheelsets are solid. Tyres have a habit of rotating on the wheel in time. Thats why white lines used to be painted on wheels to gauge rotation and spot failures. Spot on about the leaves tho. University study commissioned by the railways came up with those findings.
