How come I never see any of you holier than thou bunch when I’m out on the road. Is there a special STW troll road where you all drive at 29.9 MPH in a 30?

Thanks for the link anagallis. I’ve just booked a couple of tickets. Olaf is great, though my favourite is Sven. Oh dear. I do have a kiddie, honest.

I had this a few years ago, I swapped the plug on the dishwasher (it was a moulded one) and the problem was resolved. I’m no electrician though, just letting you know what worked for me.

See you in Verbier. It’s my 4th visit. Absolutely love the place.

I used these lot http://www.advancedvisioncare.co.uk as mentioned by jkomo, don’t mess about looking for a cheap deal. Get a good surgeon. I’ve recommended this company to two other people and they too were delighted with the results.

I’ve just received a brand new 14x frame in the post, absolutely delighted.
Big thanks to Singletrack Bikes who handled the whole thing faultlessly.
Also it’s great to have a manufacturer replace the frame with no quibbles.
They’ve got a life long fan now

Fingers crossed they can get the parts out to me quick then.

Haha yeah it does look like a crashed bike but it was a perfectly normal landing.
Well apart from the tyre rubbing on the seat tube afterwards

My Shimano ones are about 10 years old and still give a good clean cut. I use them on cables, outers and brake hoses

I believe these to be the best http://www.advancedvisioncare.co.uk, they are a Harley street practice.
If you live outside the M25 they’ll put you up in a hotel as part of the price.
Myself and two friends have all been done with no complications. Have heard first hand of real problems with high street ones. i.e. painful procedure and gritty eyes.
You are looking at around £2000 per eye. As mentioned above don’t believe the “from” price.
AVC didn’t mess about by quoting fake prices, all very professional and honest and up front.
The night vision thing has been mostly eliminated now with the latest techniques.
    I certainly have no problems.
My prescription was +4 -175 180, which is quite long and meant glasses/contacts were always expensive.
Having my eyes lasered has been life changing (for the better)

I’ve just swapped over one of the spacers on the bottom bracket. It’s now two on the left and one on the right. The chain line looks and sounds much better in bottom and top doesn’t seem affected. Thanks for the tip. Will see how it runs on Friday.
I’m running Raceface NW, Shimano XT cassette with 17 removed and Wolftooth 42 added.

Sounds about right pieface. I’ve got shin splints and sore knees too. All apparently due to weak glutes. Been doing some backwards running on the treadmill. Took a few attempts to get used to it but i think it’s helping

I have hip pain after running. Physio says my glutes don’t engage. She’s given me two excercises for each leg. 50 times each, so 200 times per day to get muscle memory and engage the glutes. A trip to a proper sports physio is in order but it’s probably too late for any marathon gain
For me stretching is so very important, don’t skimp on that

If you have a closer look at the wheel on the black spire stinger you’ll notice it is stepped. This stops the chain dropping into granny when back pedalling. I suspect your superstar version doesn’t have the step or just has a little ridge. This doesn’t work. Best bet is to get a stinger

One drop of washing up liquid. Rub it all over. Wipe off with kitchen roll.

I think Nirvana cycles still do group rides on Saturday and Sunday, that’s a good way to get to know the area.

I spent my last two summer holidays at Trecco Bay in Porthcawl. It’s very close to Afan and not far from bike park Wales. The facilities are excellent and the little one loved it.

Cold sores suck, there’s not much you can do about those. I always get one when in the alps due to a combination of UV and being knackered.
There are some things in clinical trial in the US http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-37314/Is-cure-cold-sores.html don’t know how that will turn out.
How about instead of adding calories, try something so you burn the ones you have more efficiently.
Try those beet it beetroot juices before you ride, apparently according to Horizon or whatever the program was I watched, they give you an extra 16% of endurance.

I’ve had bad eczema on my hands for the last 10 years, I think it’s a combination of washing powder and sweat allergy.
This new product on the scene called Dermalex has cleared it up (took all of 2 hours). It’s cortisone free so can be used freely.
Check out the product to see if it’s safe for small children, it’s made by Omega Pharma.
If it is, it’s available in Boots, for me it’s been a real find.

I’d suggest knee and elbow as a norm. I also wear padded pants but have a history of landing on the same spot on my right thigh. If you come off and get up fine you’ll never know if the protection helped but don’t risk wasting your holiday being injured. I know how much that sucks.

2013 ST3 Estate averages 28 MPG, that’s including fun driving. Bike will fit in the boot with 1 seat down, so two seat bit can stay up. Very rewarding to drive, corners feel good. Sound and acceleration are very good and quite addictive, motorway cruising is easy in 6th, a quick right foot and it surges forward with urgency, picking up speed very rapidly. There’s a fair bit of torque steer that takes a bit of getting used to in first gear.
Good looking car, very practical, interior is recaro.

I really enjoy mine. Have added a 160 talas, it’s a pig to climb otherwise. You’ve made a good choice…but I would say that :-)

I’d say medium too. Mine is medium, I’m 5′ 9″ I run my seat forward and there’s still plenty of room.

My rear High Roller has exploded off the Arch EX rim about 4 times in the last year, getting rather fed up with it. It is folding though, so maybe that’s the problem?

On the cat flap front, can I recommend the PetPorte. It uses the microchip in your cat’s neck to identify the cat and only lets your cats into the house. It’s about £100 but the damage a Tom cat can do to the house can cost more than that to put right. I learned this the hard way :(

I’m thinking the same but with Arch Ex rims. Going to fit them this week and then try them out on my normal ride this weekend.

Agreed with the other posts. I would suggest the all mountain bike. If you have the right guide you are in for a real treat. Chamonix has some of the best trails I’ve ridden. Get practicing your switchback riding.

There’s an o ring on the piston in the lever. That could have perished which would explain the pressure loss.

If you have the time and inclination to learn wheel building. Have a look at this. http://www.wheelpro.co.uk/wheelbuilding/book.php it’s £9 so you’ve got to be keen but it’s a very useful skill to have. I had a couple of bought wheels go clown shaped on me, so figured I’d best learn to do it myself.
First two or three builds were hard work but now it’s just part of normal bike maintenance.

A quick way to true would be. Take off tyre. Wash wheel and spokes. Get a plastic disposable knife and pluck the spoke at the nipple side of the spoke. Go round once to get a feel for the pitch, then equalise it.
A recommended spoke key would be the “spokey”.

It’s a bit of effort mind

If you don’t want hope front/ shimano rear get a set of shimano deore they’ll cost the same but will work better.

Shimano. I spent years with hope(less) m4s. Went to shimano, would never go anywhere else now. Ultimate reliability, great feel and stopping power.
