Yes, we used the pre-fitted seatbelts to hold the rear-facing car seat.

We have had a spokey joe [£80] trailer for 4 years, we have had it round lots of forest roads with no problems. The helmet issue was one that concerned us, as both children couldn't wear them, as the helmet pressed against the rear of the trailer forcing their heads forward. So we decided that they shouldn't wear a helmet in the trailer. Both children used the trailer from about 4 months using a car seat.

I used an old led headlight bracket to mount the bike specific light on to my helmet with the help of 2 velcro straps to secure it. No pics at the moment.

Try not to kneel down on hard surfaces, during and after the recovery period , as this is one of the causes of Bursitis, [ housemaids / carpet fitters knee ] . Funnily enough my right knee hurts when my bottom bracket is about to go.

Swello, I think we may be doing the Selkirk Merida course on Tuesday night, leaving Peebles at 7pm. If you are interested, E-mail in profile. If you can't make that, we could arrange to meet up.

Hi Swello, just a thought, we go out every mid-week for a night-ride, if you fancy it. We leave Peebles at 7.30pm ish, usually on a Tuesday.

I had this exact problem on my fox float, I sent it to mojo http://www.mojo.co.uk/ who serviced and repaired it for £89 plus £5 for p&p. It is now as good as new.

Apparently ASDA are selling bikes at no profit at the moment, I think that they would be ideal for what your Dad requires.

If you have a Recycling centre near you, take a box of Jaffa cakes and see what the guys on site can get you.

In the last year I have acquired a Spesh Rockhopper, a Spesh Hardrock, a mint retro Saracen, a Giant Terrago disc, and several low budget mint condition bikes from my local Recycling centre, I have passed these bikes onto friends and family for no cost, just to get them into cycling.

If you want to meet up, I live in the lodge house in the cemetery in Peebles [honestly], I should be there for most of the weekend. Campbell.

I think the De Vere hotel you mention is the Black Barony, which is in Eddleston' [about 4 miles from Peebles ].

Nightlife, The County and the Bridge Inn { the Trust], are 2 good pubs in the area.

Probably best to avoid the Crown and the Central, unless you are a local.

There are about another half dozen pubs/hotels each with their pros and cons.

The midgies were bad on Monday night, but only as it was raining, and we had stopped at a stream. Keep going and they aren't a problem. Avon skin so soft, to drown them.

If you are riding by yourself, I might be able to come with you. I stay in Peebles. Where are you staying?

Further to Andy's post, if it's a nice day buy a fish supper and eat it at Tweed Green.

Lots of good tips there, when I do a car-boot, I tape the curtesy-light switch, so that i don’t get a flat battery, also i take a bit of old carpet to stand on, because depending on weather your feet can get pretty cold.

For a new bike at that price it’s possibly the best way to go, {women’s spec specialized}. Check Evans website for a Specialized Myka 2009 sport disc at £362, or for a better frame and fork the 2008 Myka expert is £449.

Thanks for your posts, Steve, but at Primera it’s £89, Reggie, as you said Dales only have the contest in xl. Well it was worth a try anyway. Cheers.

I had a dislocated shoulder last year, popped out backwards, popped back in 4 hours later with gas/air combo. Anyhow.
Month 1 – Painful, loss of feeling in one finger and thumb, off work.[manual job] – Physio starts.
Month 2/3 – On holiday, so lots of swimming to aid recovery.
Month 4 – First cycle helped by nurofen gel and Co-dydramol, which I still take for a ride – complete loss of mojo and fitness. I should have used a turbo trainer.
Month 5 – Still no mojo or fitness.
    Month 6 – ” ” “
Motnh 7 – Finger and thumb start working, mojo and fitness return, still hurts though.

I bought some from Tesco, two front seat covers for just under £5, I thought the quality was good.

This could be a wind-up, but my mate [bike mechanic], always said he taped a plastic container around frame and seatpost, filled with Coke-cola and left overnight. If not, your lbs will have a tap and die set, which cuts out the seatpost.

Hi Poly, we are just back from Barncrosh, we hired the Screel house which has 5 bedrooms, we packed in 8 adults and 7 children [ 3 1year olds and 4 4year olds]. Plenty of space in the house, house was a little tired but suited us perfectly. We are going to hire it again, but there are some not so good points. The farm has a seperate portaloo business which is kept in a big storage tank near the site, so some nice farm smells at times. The trampoline did not have any net sides to it, the adventure playground looked very old. The tennis court was very good, as was the woodland walk which we converted into a 6 minute mtb track.

TJ, look up http://www.walkerburn.com/ , if this doesn’t work, put ” burning issue walkerburn ” into google etc, for the latest up-to-date community, police and council topics in the Walkerburn metropolis. I think that this is the newsletter that Smee is referring to.

Is the girl in the middle of the Whistler photo a zombie? Anyhow, I think I have more chance with the Innerleithen girl. Apparently, the chairlift is going to open on the same day as the reopening of the Peebles to Walkerburn railway.

Minor Embarrassment – realising my shoulder had not regained it’s strength from being dislocated, whilst attempting the rock-step at the top of Spooky Wood climb. It being a Saturday, only 20 or so people were at the picnic-bench to appreciate my comic fall.

G-L, we may have passed you, while returning on the blue motorway, we saw a solo cyclist, going up the climb after Pennel’s Vennel at about 9.30ish, We go out every Wednesday night leaving Peebles at 7.30pm, not always Glentress though, but other local trails. If that time suits you, you are welcome to join us. e-mail in profile. cheers.

Hi Mugboo, If you are cycling back to Peebles, there are some trails on the Hydro hotel side of Glentress,” Zoom or bust”, just up on the left from the freeride, followed by the green trail, turn right after the replica hut, you pass an old ring fort where a natural trail begins, and pops out near the bottom of jenny’s (or janet’s brae), another short natural trail leads to the house at bottom of brae. Have fun.
