Is that not something you can just force yourself to do?

Friend of mine, very skilled and very strong rider is exclusively using clip-in pedals.

But his technique is absolutely flawless in my eyes.

He stays very active on the bike, makes pumps, pre-loads and all that stuff.

So maybe just a matter of making sure you are not getting lazy?

    Rocker or Swinger, same thing

I would not call rockers swingers and in my eyes definitely not the same thing, but I guess close enough :D

I’m 44 on Shimano, 44 on Spesh, 44 on FiveTen, 44 LG and 45 on winter NW.

I was also on 45 Shimano winter and 44 on winter Spesh.

    Yes you can.

Cheers Charlie! So unlikely person to understand me :D

Yeah, Google, Strava Beacon… All works. With GSM signal :p

Yeah, sensible approach, one I apply, but that wasn’t a question.

Bottom line probably is: do it old school, sensible way or pay premium.

I think for that moment no better solution can be found…

But in fact, the phone on its own will do the job.

… providing it will have signal :-/

There’s no budget version of that because there’s no budget satellite comms.

I suspected so, but always worth asking question.

a cheap used garmin + phone

Seems to be unable to track one like that… Is that one of these https://shop.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/garmin-inreach-mini/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIlLzQju-u7AIV24BQBh3l5AIsEAAYASAAEgIDoPD_BwE?

    Yep, that’s the one.

Just looking for budget version, if anything like that exists, hence my rather silly question.

I believe an isle of man Sim is what you need

Not really, as it still requires GSM signal. Don’t remember seeing any on top of Helvellyn…

Just read description of Curve device and looks like that one also relies on GSM signal…
    Bummer…

    eh?

Likes of Spot tracking device relies on GPS coverage and if you are out of GSM signal you can be tracked by your loved ones. So that kind of magic…

Look. I have seen some bright ideas on this forum, but this one really takes the biscuit.

    Yeah, very smartbackside remark :p

Probably I wasn’t explicit enough. GPS tracker, not reliant on GSM signal, that can be hit and miss if non existent in the deep stick. That was the idea.

I’ve been using the Vodafone curve as a tracker

That looks promising. Might pester you in a little while for review and experience.

You may need the paid for Strava version

Yep, free version do not support route building anymore.

Normally I’m using combination of Google maps, Bing maps in OS mode and Ride with GPS to plan my routes, but just thought about something simple for lazy days, where I just don’t want to spend too much time on plotting…

    Thanks All!

That only shows my level of Luddism. Using Strava for close to 2 years and didn’t even know about such feature.

Been told 1000feet per 10 miles is classed as hilly ride. Probably one of these Cycling Rules BS or something :p

    But…

…3273 feet over the course of 4 miles gives average gradient of 15.5%. That is hilly as ****…

That is very interesting woods you have Good Sir… Just to put it into perspective Llanberis Path gains 3166 feet over the course of 4.2 miles, that gives you average gradient of 14.1%.

So, yeah, your watch had probably a bit of a meltdown xD

Have Power 5, loving the fact that with all my constant GPS, sync and internet on 18h per day I’m charging it once every 7-10 days…

Weight a bit, true, but I bought it mainly for this monstrous battery life, so not bothered.

It is a bit less smart than Mi4 Pro but I’m not bothered again.

WTB tyres, probably just for “comedy” value looks to be on the very, very low end of the sizing. Putting them on and taking them off is always a struggle. Insert or no insert…

But on the other hand tubeless inflating is a doddle…

    Swings and roundabouts I guess.

Just swear louder and push harder…

Not sure about that particular one, but Dukes Road, all way up to when it splits into Abbey Brook and Carttledge Stones Ridge is terrible, terrible mess.

I was meaning that the post might be on the lower end of the tolerance

    Ahhh… Gotcha…

The frame’s seat tube bore might be a touch oversized

Thanks! Obvious one I need to check.

Dropper definitely won’t be fancy, however in the current state of supply anything, even on the budget feels like top shelf commodity xD

Post is correct size, only concession I might think about is using 35.0 collar instead of “standard” 34.9. But I do not believe Salsa Flip Lock comes in 34.9 variety…

Had one like that, just slightly different.
BB7 road with Tektro drop bars levers for long pull brakes.
    I loved it a lot.
My set of BB7 road always suffered with overly long lever throw whilst paired with road pull levers.
Once changed it gave my very nice, short throw feel. Just gave regulating barrel few turns to make it more modulation space and I was happy as Larry 😁

    Ermmm… Maybe nothing?

Mine is with me probably 15 months or so. Pumped it to max recommended pressure more than several times and believe it or not, nothing exploded.

I get it, PX got not exactly favourable press here, but some people are giving them stick only because it is PX…

Got similar branded Barbieri, as well from PX.

Good pump, but tank, despite high pressure too small IMO. Some tight sitting tyres OK with, but bigger and more loose just do not have enough ompf…

In the end I would look elsewhere…

    Depends on skill and fitness…

If group/mate is stronger it is pushing me on.

On my own depends on mood, feeling, temperature, wind, barometric pressure…

Ahhh… You Brits and your “wrong way round” brakes silliness…

So The Whole World, apart of few, very few places, is wrong way but you somehow, as a minority have it “right way around”?
    Always makes me chuckle :D

On the slightly more serious note, when I bought my first new bike in UK I thought I will try your fashion on brakes. Didn’t feel at all comfortable. My brain and muscle memory was screeching and wailing…
So I’m sure some people can adapt more or less easily but I’m not one of them.
