+ 1 for Woods Cyclery. Had my Beacon handlebars from them.

That Outback is ekhem… rather eclectic build… eTap shifters with mechanical brakes?

But it proves concept of eTap with 10/50 cassette. Good find :D

WOW!!! I thought my Booster for 90 quid was a bit of a push, but another 50 smackers on top of that…
Very happy JB Booster user, for last 3 or 4 years.

Many successful tubeless conversions done with it.

Recommend it, if you have money to spare.

Go for custom made, recycled inner tubes phone hugger from BeerBabe.

I carry my phone in one of these on the strap of my Lomo pack.

Have both Dex and Sealskinz. Both are a bit of disappointment in area of waterproofness and insulation.
Please keep in mind that I suffer with cold feet, so might be for someone not affected like me they will be OK.

there are 11 speed 11-50 cassettes from Suntour

From Sunrace, and from many others. VG Sport, ZTTO, Sunshine and several other on ebay, AliExpress and so on.

Not sure about Sram, but friend of mine was using standard SGS SLX 11 speed mech with 11/50, 11 speed Sunrace cassette.

That was on V2 Banshee Spitfire and I’m sure he have it still running OK on V1 Banshee Prime.

Remember few years back one bloke turned up to GFBD on Puffin with Stans Hugo wheels and Nates tyres.

    Rim 49.9mm internal, tyre 3.8″.

    He was absolutely fine.

can’t see how you would ever want a tyre that big at a trail centre.

Can’t answer that as I’m not riding trial centres… Peaks, Lakes, bit of Wales and also some Scottish places. I’m not a TC person…

    looks pretty mad

:D And was attracting loads of attention.

    I loved my T129 in fat-front/semi-fat rear.

Loads of control added, especially in tech terrain.

It’s bloody cold out now and getting colder………

Like what? 0? -1? Always makes me laugh, when locals complain about how terribly cold it is…

That is cold, but not extreme…

Just push it out completely with chain tool’s pin.

Then, if you insist on using joining pin instead of rather practical quick link, push pin in place using tool.

The sad thing from all this long post is that in my eyes it looks like you are sort of down playing issue of dog bites…
It is smaller than some obvious offender, so we can brush it off…

Just repeating myself from 2 pages before:

But that is not dog’s fault that it is a dog. It is owner’s fault not to be considerate enough prior. Either on training of dog or making up decision to take/not to take dog to the ride.

Dogs are not problem, as they are dogs, their owners are problem, as they are people.

I suggest that rather than fight it you work out a way to accommodate it because it’s not going away

Ahhh… got it… My fault then that I have scars on the legs because I was bitten by the dog.

So silly, silly of me, just being standing there whilst out of control dog was shredding my leg…

Out of interest where are you all riding to be attacked/chased/threatened by dogs?

15 miles from Rotherham, on bridleway. Want to see my left calf?

Left Leicester about 5 years ago…

But might do a bit of a sentimental tour once it is slightly less ermmm… suboptimal :D

Swithland Woods and Beacon Hill was OK. Probably more gravel bike territory than proper MTB, but nice and challenging on fully rigid single speed.

Used to start in Grooby, around Martinshaw Wood, into Lady Hay Wood, over the fields to Newtown Linford, down the permissive path outside Bradgate Park drystone wall (Sharply Hill) and then round of Swithland/Beacon.

Most of the riding around Leicester is cheeky paths though…

Don’t like trail-dogs even more so.

If they are anything like same sort of couplers for stealth Reverb you should be able to use them at least 2-3 times without need of bleeding.

Yes, they do exist. Sunrace 12 speed quick link is operated by fingers only. No need for pliers.

Can’t go wrong with saddle soap

Not sure… Brooks specifically says don’t use saddle soap on their saddles…

Might be it is purely to use their own Proofide instead, but might be there is something to that…

There is no one, universal placement of levers on drop bar. If someone is insisting on that it telling total BS…

What suits you best is the best. Never mind how does it look.

In regards to not reaching to the levers from the drops… Might be that you are just small handed like me and standard drop bars will be too much for you.

Hence I went with Ritchey Beacon. Wide flare and ultra compact drop 80mm and very short of reach 65mm.

Might be that’s your golden ticket?

Also sometimes playing with stem that got extreme rise, by extreme I mean like swan neck style stem, or something like Ergotec Charisma High.

That mainly allows rolling handlebars front a lot to shorten reach and drop effectively.

Bad idea? I would say good. They will probably arrive promptly, even now. Had some cranks from Mantel (Holland) delivered. Took 5 days overall.
On the other hand Missus sent some stuff from South Yorks to Cov and slightly up North Monday the 7th. Still haven’t arrived at destination…

The spank vibrocore drops look pretty good.

Perhaps, but definitely on the deeper end in my money :D

Short 110mm drop and 65mm reach

Beacon still looks the best for small-handed:

    Drop: 80mm
    Reach: 65mm

Little tip, that I found by lucky observation. If your valve core get slightly sticky, take it out of the wheel, stick it into your tubeless inflator pump and give it 2-3 blasts of full tank. I found out that little routine moves loads of gunk out of the valve core, if not entirely, quite far enough that you can just pinch it with fingers or tweezers and remove it to prolong your valve core flow and life.

Yeah, Brighton in not exactly for afternoon coffee ride distance from South Yorks xD

If you want more racy position don’t let shallow drop deter you. Just slam your stem down or even revers for negative rise and you will be all racing.

That’s what I’ve done with mine. Spacer on top of stem instead of below and negative rise.

Beacon Comp is on the verge of 40 quid posted, so not megabucks. I’m serial handlebars hoarder and buyer and so far Beacon gave me the nicest position.

Went through quite a few. On-One Midge, Genetic Digest 440 and 480, Alpkit Bomber, Ritchey VentureMAX, Funn G-Wide, Origin8 Gary and original dirt drop bar WTB/Spesh RM2.

Beacon is for me by far the best I’ve tried so far.

On the other hand such a exposure to flared handlebars left me feeling terribly uncomfortable on standard drop bars, so much so that I have VentureMAX on my road bike now and not looking to go back to “normal”.

Where are you located mate? Might be, we can arrange something…

My only complaint to Beacon is it’s not wide enough for my likings… 520, like VentureMAX XL would be ideal for my taste…

    As per OneUP Components website:

    So what is Boost 148?

Boost 148 was created to give frame makers more design freedom for tire and front derailleur clearance. From a drivetrain perspective it moves the cassette 3mm away from the frame centerline. The new ideal chainline for Boost bikes is 51-53mm.

So I would suggest FC-M7100-1 or FC-M8100-1, as -2 is 55mm chain line.

    errrmmm… Completely opposite…

Chain line on rear hub (frame then) should be matched by chain line on cranks.

If you have frame in hand you can measure it yourself.
