Many moons ago it was triple puncture for me on the commute back home. Bang on in the middle of the way.
6 miles walk back home from outskirts of Coventry.

Also one Lakes ride cut short for one of the friends in the group:

    Same with one Peaks ride:

Are you doing any stretching after ride?

Helps a lot in my case.

Also can’t really understand people drinking pure water on the rides. That is just so wrong. Reducing your micro-elements by sweating and then adding water to your body to dilute what’s left even more?

    Cheers!

55psi in my 28mm tyres. Given I weigh 87kg this is quite low.

Matter of perspective. 55PSI that in my money high end of my usable pressure.

OK, I’m 67kg, but my low is below 40PSI in 28c (38-35 probably)

Best results of speed and comfort combo for me is just smidge above 40PSI.

    Thanks!!

That actually gives me a bit of a idea.

Will test on the weekend and might report, depending on outcome.

Still probably re-do taping as I think that one I’m trying to do was with a bit dodgy valve hole piercing anyways.

    Typical STW fashion :p

Every thread on tubeless turns into same ‘ole squabble about pros and cons of tubes over tubeless and vice versa.

You like tubes, grand, you like tubeless even better, just spare me your “I’d-rathers”

    Boooo-ring…

Cyclo Tool… Interesting, will have a browse. If that is not mega-bucks spend might try.

I had limited success doing it with tyre levers, hence looking for something that might help.

Found a youtube video about seating the bead with a tyre lever

Would you be able to share that particular one?

What tyres are causing the problem?

Funnily, especially in the light of Michelin website link, it is Michelin Yksion, road tubeless on new Open Pro rims.

Interestingly when I was setting it first time it went up and sealed without any effort whatsoever. Then I had a bit of a mishap, slashed rear tyre almost in half, resorted to inner tube to hobble back home and since then I seems to be unable to set same, new tyre on the same rim…

Wheel is true, no flat spots or anything like that, but it refuses cooperation…

Might try to re-do the taping, just in case.

    Cheers!

Burgtec MK4 or the Oneup Composites.

Will see how I’ll be going with what I have and then if poorly will swap for one of suggested.

    Cheers Gang!

Some good and some obvious stuff here.

I guess I never learned how to properly bunny hop without pulling on clips, hence want to force myself into learning curve.

I just guessed, my flats are V8, but they might be something different. Will need to dig them out, probably give them a bit of TLC and will see how they are going to play with 5-10s.

Will defo check recommended bunny hopping vid.

Thanks once again, keep’em coming more please.

I have 2 of these. Bought in PX aaages ago, they were 2 or 3 quid that time. Managed to cover 4 bikes without much of fuss.

What are your goals for you and the bike OP? Are we talking 600km audaxs, maybe a stab a some transcontinental multi day warm up races? Or are we talking the usual 3-5hr Sunday ride in a bit more comfort? Or somewhere between the two?

Just riding. 1 hour around the block or 9+ hours around and about.

No races, no crits, no clubs…

No silly PF bottom bracket, mudguards is a must as it will be doubling as a commuter.

Whyte Wessex also fits the bill, but need to be bought as a whole bike that I’m not so keen on.

More pouring, poking and sniffing this evening…

Probably will end up with Ribble CGR SL and light wheelset.

Or even two wheelsets to make it more dual duty.

For my usages I don’t need anything roadie-road. Not a member of club, not racing, not chasing KOMs etc…

Just need something stable but reasonably swift.

Looks like Ribble will fit the bill…

Okikoki, looks like I might just go down the road of gravel bike with limited capacity, like up to 40c.

That might be better bet than trying to push endurance road bike with my expectations.

Gravel with light bits should probably do trick for me.

    Thanks!

Yes I did. Also was owing few of them. As well as some more do-it-all bikes like Charge Plug 3 or something along these lines.

And yes, there was significant difference in ease of direction changing between short wheel based Cube Attain and Plug or even my current Whyte Cornwall. Also in regards to shorts stays for/aft motion of short stayed bike over longer bumps and lumps is giving me mild sea sickness feeling, from the lack of better word, that is less pronounced on the bike with 435mm stays…

    Hi,

    A bit of a resurrection.

696 is FreeRanger and some others…

How about 707? Looks to be slightly heavier than 696 and slightly longer in top tube for given frame size. That actually plays well into my needs.

Only other real difference I can see is no 2 options for front axle, not an issue and looks like 707 can’t be fitted with smaller chainring than 36T.

I have my fair share of riding single speed with QR wheels. I can count on the fingers of my one hand when the wheel moved, even without chain tugs.

Proper QR, properly clamped and you should be fine.

Alternatively buy yourself Wipermann IG8 Pro chain and you will be set for life.

Mine is in 3rd frame now and probably pushing something around 6 or 7 years…

    Hi there,

You should be able to do this without an issue, however we have never done this so we cannot say for certain.

    Thanks.

I do not believe 9speed half link as such exist.

Probably the closest you get will be cannibalizing some of KMC HL1 Narrow, that is probably around 7-8speed chain width…

    https://www.kmcchain.com/en/product/bicycle-chain-hl1narrow-single-speed

On the other hand why not put proper single speed chain? Any reason behind using 9 speed? Religion? Superstition? Pact with Old Ones?

    Ignore that above

Yeah :D Farr Bar is nowhere near TowelRack territory.

    My suggestions:

    Funn G-Wide, 500mm
    Ritchey Venture MAX XL 520mm
    Walmer Bar 550 or 600mm

If you are big handed, whichever you can put your hand on will do, if small handed like my, Ritchey will play nice for you, as it has the smallest drop.

Field Cycles from Sheffield had some stems on their website.

Probably every decent frame builder will be able to braze or weld for you custom stem.

For the adequate price I guess…

My Bulldozer awaits new wheel to complement my re-freshed build.
Also, just in December I think, managed to import from Germany 2 pieces of Duro Crux, another 3.25 rubber.
It was from some rather obscure, Bavarian, unicycle web shop. You might give it a go. I prefer Crux to Bulldozer. Bulldozer is the most self steering tyre I ever tried. So probably not such an issue at rear, but I wouldn’t put it back at front, where it was initially residing…

Also ghetto tend to sit much tighter between rim and tyre, so very rarely you need air blast.

Normal track pump and soapy water did me ok. I think only once I really struggled on ghetto conversion. That was some old and pretty baggy tyre.

I remember, quite a few years back, seeing somewhere on MTBR one chap putting roadie wheel on his Turner RFX. That was interesting set up, for sure…

If you think about putting drop bars on even old school, 26″ full bounce you might find issue with increased reach and pretty low front end due to overall idea of bike being optimized for shortish stem and flat/riser bars.

If frame is overall short you might be about fine with drop bars, but you might need to use high rise stem to make best of that.

Probably better to stick to flat/riser bars and bar ends perhaps. not necessarily in the dedicated position…

    It probably depends on model.

Once had their disco slippers and they were tight as hell. But their winter range is definitely more generous.

    Probably not very helpful…
