Ignore the typical snooty Bmw driver response as they are really nice cars to own. I have a 2 litre diesel black edition which doesn’t have all the sporty touches but has some without the harsh suspension, there is hardly any difference speed wise between it and the VRS as the black edition is lighter.

I have been really impressed with how well built the car is and how practical it is. Would def recommend any Octavia and am sure the VRS is loads of fun.

I thought it was pretty simple as well only taking a minute or so but it depends how it is aproached as to how easy it is. I dont believe the story about the four accountants taking two hours to solve it.

I can understand the Beatles hate towards some of the early more poppy songs but I think they have produced such a wide body of music it can’t all be labelled the same.

    Take this for example:

It has to be one of their most their ground breaking pieces and is worlds apart from the “she loves you yeah yeah yeah” type songs.

I’ve yet to hear a blues track I like, but they’re probably out there, just can’t be arsed to find them

Just on the off chance you might like this?

Can Chris Martin also be in the band of death….please?

@nickc I agree that’s probably what they are referring to, but that’s like saying you hate rock because of – insert really bad hair metal band with really dire twiddley twiddley guitar solos here –

I can usually find good music in most genres but struggle with a lot of heavy metal, trance and modern r’n’b. I **** hate Kanye West with a passion. I dislike 90% of whats in the charts these days but am still a fan of new music.

I am still slightly perplexed by the amount of jazz haters on this thread..how can you hate this?

For the jazz haters does that include the likes of Louis Armstrong and Nina Simone? I get the dislike for the noodlin improv type jazz as it is definitely an acquired taste. It is a large genre though. A bit like someone disliking rock music – which is entirely possible I suppose.

Cheers wrecker she’s a really nice natured dog. So glad she was crap at finding drugs (not that i have a stash or anything) and failed the prison service.

Ours is a lab/springer cross we think. She was as an ex-prison service dog who failed the training school and was on her way to the rescue center. Couldn’t have nicer temperament and is brilliant around our young daughter.

I would recommend having a look at the rescue centers with a size of dog in mind rather than a breed and you should pick up something suitable that will really appreciate all the attention.

I would say stick to soprano ukeleles to start and you can’t really go wrong with a Makala, Lanikai or Kala. These can vary in price greatly but are all well thought of makes.

The Makala Dolphin is a well thought of budget uke and can be yours for around £30.

It’s really easy just be sure to use a spirit level (some wall mounts even have levels built in) apart from that just mark the drill holes well and drill as straight as possible.

I would go for a fairly inexpensive one of amazon that gets good reviews as no I don’t think you get much more for an expensive one.

Uniqlo and Asos own brand are both decent quality and good value.

I would recommend Bloodline. Well made and the plot is a lot better than the Affair which after a few episodes starts to become really annoying.

For a comedy The Goldbergs is ace. Brilliant the way he shows his home footage at the end which obviously laid the groundwork out for that particular episode. So many awesome 80’s references and tunes, it’s worth watching just for that if you were an 80’s kid.

You could pick up a bottle of Black Bush for nearish your budget. It’s one of the nicest blended choices for that money. For a tenner more you could get a bottle of Redbreast in Sainsburys which is a lovely bottle as a gift.

I was once asked in all seriousness by a work colleague if there was a time zone change when flying to Ulster. My reply “yes. they are about 60 years behind the more enlightened parts of the mainland”.
Try the steaks, I’m here all week… etc.

Presumably you live in a more enlightened part of the mainland looking down on the rest with contempt….hoooray for you

I’m really happy with the outcome of this case and agree NI does need a kick up the ass so far as using religious beliefs as an excuse to discriminate.

@Waderider. Things are awesome now we were just waiting for you to leave. As mentioned above there is a really good mtbing scene here now with a lot being invested in trail centres as well as increased access to natural trails.

As donncha said there are some good trails with more and more being invested in trail centres throughout the country. Two of which IIRC were designed by the same people as BPW so are of a very good standard. I think they aim to have a further 8 trail centres open within the next ten years. Given the size of the country this will mean a very good choice within a relatively small area.

The prices are cheap like a budgie in comparison to London. Probably on par with some of the bigger Scottish cities. There are plenty of nice areas to live but like any big city there are some not so nice areas and with it being Belfast these areas also tend to have underlying issues. These area can easily be avoided so I wouldn’t let that sway your judgement.

We are a friendly bunch though so you will be warmly welcomed.

Uniqlo regular fit jeans would fit and are well made for the price – I find they are better quality than the fashion brands e.g. Diesel, Replay etc. and on par with the old school denim manufacturers e.g. Lee, Levis etc. You can also get them in selvedge denim should you so desire. They also have slim fit jeans that have a small % of lycra (1% I think) that stretch to fit if you want to wear a slimmer jean.

Failing that Edwin and Howies do jeans that are designed to be a more relaxed fit so shouldn’t be so tight in the leg.

The Weber briquettes take longer to get white for cooking but last a lot longer. So I use them only when I need to do several rounds of cooking.

Has anyone got a cover for their Weber they can recommend….the grey Weber one I have is useless.

I have a couple of pairs of Uniqlo selvedge jeans and would recommend as they seem as well made as jeans that have cost a lot more. Have to say all Uniqlo stuff I have bought has all been top quality…the non iron work shirts are amazing value.

Loads of different jeans are made with a small percent of lycra so should stretch. Nudie and Uniqlo being two that offer examples.

As already mentioned Edwin Ed55. If you have a look on brown bag clothing they sometimes have good deals on. I just got a pair of selvedge ones for £40.

@angeldust….did you get your car on Pcp? boom boom

The whole dismissive “defensive skoda drivers” gambit is a bit nonsensical. People defend them as they have a difference in opinion….maybe more so with you as you are obviously quite opinionated on the subject.

I got mine here[/url], would really recommend if you see one you like. Mine is silver with a wooden inlay. It will tarnish but that doesn’t bother me. Was a really reasonable price too.

Apart from the fact that Kanye is a muppet I generally don’t see what the big fuss over the headliner is. When I went we never really bothered with the headliners anyway…as there is always plenty of other options available.

To me Kanye is a logical step from Jay-Z, U2, Coldplay, Metallica…. a big name to appeal to the masses. Anyone at the festival has the choice to go to another stage. Anyone at home can turn the channel over. I will be curled up at home pressing the red button in order to see hopefully Mogwai, Beck or Vampire Weekend headline one of the other stages.

Their first album is brilliant but I haven’t been able to get into their second in the same way. The guitarist decided to quit after the first stating the lifestyle wasn’t for him so this may have had a difference in how the second was written.

This is them doing an amazing live rendition of my favorite song of the first album:
