As above Rapanui are really good but their T-shirts run a bit small sometimes. Finisterre T-shirts are amazing quality especially if you pick them up in the sale. There’s one on now I believe…damn you Finisterre! Colourful Standard also have amazing quality organic T-shirts that are all plain and come in every imaginable colour. Their hoodies are also the cosiest things ever!

Comments are correct about it coming up with bark chips. I would disagree about it being a weed….in the right place and looked after correctly it looks awesome. It depends on type, whether it’s clumping or running as to how rigorous it will be. Even if it is running it can simply be managed by cutting new culms which then won’t grow back. You can also get special membrane it can’t grow through.

Not one for lazy gardeners mind….which might explain all the negative comments.

You won’t regret the Red Wings! Treat Yo’self. I did and am really happy with them.

I absolutely love my RedWings – I wear them pretty much every day in the winter, including to work (albeit an office job). They are expensive because they are exceptionally well made and are Goodyear Welted….meaning they should be comfy and durable. A lot of people who buy them wear them until the sole is worn down and then get them resoled (which costs around £80). Once the sole is worn down again you will likely have got ten years wear out of them and will have grown attached to your favorite pair of boots. I couldn’t recommend them enough.

It is an amazing country with a lot to offer. I have been several times as my wife’s family are there. There are a lot of people that live there that also don’t support the regime but I understand how tourism benefits the current idiots that are in government.

I would recommend mountain biking in the desert (the Negev) but would definitely suggest booking a guide. Swimming in the dead sea and going to the Holocaust Memorial in Jerusalem are also memorable. I would also recommend spending a bit of time in Tel-Aviv and Jaffa.

Taking the time to see Petra in Jordan is also a must.

We also have an Angelcare and would recommend…still faultless after dropping it several times. I always like to have the monitor on my belt if I am doing anything around the house such as doing some DIY. Not sure an iPad would be that practical in this scenario – if I hear something out of the ordinary I investigate otherwise I carry on with what I am doing. I also agree with the point raised that a video monitor is an added form of anxiety.

    Track:

    Or

    Album:

Idles: Joy…obvs, Marlowe: Marlowe, Khruangbin: Con Todo El Munro, Parquet Courts: Wide Awake, Ross from Friends: Family Portrait.

Gig: Either DJ Foods tribute to Aphex Twin or Mercury Rev doing Deserter’s Songs in a church.

    Apologies…very indecisive.

I would suggest Chromecast audio with traditional hifi and/or av equipment. It sounds better than Sonos and you are separating the multi room part to the sound producing part….meaning when the technology moves on you only have to replace the cheap Wi-Fi enabling bit but still have a top notch sound system.

That was my take on it and I am pleased with the results.

Sigh …. if it’s working for you then great, if it’s not then don’t blame the process.

1 hour retro, 2 hours planning, 1-2 hours of refinement, a demo and stand-ups, doesn’t need to add up to 9 hours.

When we started all suggestions pointed to a 4 hr Planning meeting and a 3hr Refinement. These were for two week Sprints and then the daily stand-ups were in addition…so the total was around 9 hours.

My point is that we have got a lot out of Scrum but we have done this by tailoring it to suit our needs. Why should something supposedly Agile be so erm….rigid😀

Yeah we just changed from a physical board as people work from home part of the week so it made sense.

I agree about the course…putting it into practice and taking the bits that work for you is the difficult bit. We have opted out of lots that didn’t make sense for us….and the 9 hours of meetings each Sprint. Not sure how the you are meant to get anything done if you stick to that.

I’m a scrum master and we recently moved from physical board with lots of post-it’s to doing everything through TFS. Would recommend if this is an option – it will produce the burndownn and countless other charts for you.

Agree with the Yamaha suggestions. If you go to the top of your budget I believe you can get a Dolby Atmos Yamaha (or Sony) receiver that will upscale the sound to a good standard and also cope with Dolby Atmos should you ever fancy it in the future.

I would really recommend Dark. It’s a German series that reminded me slightly of Stranger Things but without the Goonies bit. Really enjoyed it although bit of a head **** keeping up with all the different characters in the different time lines. It’s on Netflix.

I paid £7 for a pint of Sierra Nevada at an outdoor gig the other night, I thought that was a bit steep until I thought about it – Carlsberg was £5…so £2 extra for something **** decent isn’t really that bad. I had one of those and then moved onto Samuel Adams which was also £7 a pint…not quite as nice but still worth the £2 extra in my book.

Also listening to Parquet Courts…everything they have done (including the A Savage solo album) is awesome.

I will be listening to Idles – Joy as an Act of Resistance as soon as my pre-ordered record arrives.

I agree about John Grant having a great voice, not sure about using auto tune. Although these aren’t mutually exclusive. Justin Vernon being a good example. Kanye being a bad one…what a twunt.

I think it’s quite easy to find music that sucks no matter the decade, but likewise I also think there is always good music to be found. I find new music very exciting and am always keen to find new genres/bands/albums that I am really into…..I have always found it more rewarding than discovering other new media.

I am never sure why people listen to the same music over and over but are always on the lookout for new films/books etc. So to answer your post….I have no idea why people keep listening to the same shit over and over. People are strange.

I have been a fan for years and still hadn’t heard some of the tracks on this thread. Good to hear some new ones. I am going to see DJ Food’s visual tribute to Aphex Twin on sat…..I am very excited about this but fear come Sunday I will be suffering from a sensory overload.

The Scientist by Coldplay. Pretty simple idea but learning to sing a song backwards is pretty impressive.

They ripped this off the Spike Jonze video for Pharcyde called Drop. They had to rap the whole song backwards. Awesome video…better song too!

The main risk is if the second hand market collapses the finance companies will have to absorb the hit on the resale values of all the cars when the owners finish the contract period….

There has been a lot of talk on this but not sure how likely it is. Fairly balanced view in the Independent (with added car ads 🤔):

This is interesting as I listened to some economists on R4 talking recently who described car finance as the next sub prime mortgage crash.  Lots of people over financed in a poorly regulated industry, the risk level is through the roof.

I don’t think this is true. I work in the car financing industry and it is heavily regulated. We are also very strict over who we lend to with a minimal amount of defaults. This may not be true for the whole industry, but most Manufacturer lead finance these days are pretty stringent. Whilst I am sure there are a lot of people getting vehicles that they simply cannot afford these are usually new vehicles that will have a fairly static residual and you always have the option to voluntary terminate the agreement once over a certain milestone.

The risk here is minimal compared with the ability of some to apply for five credit cards and rack up a credit card debt of £60K. At least with vehicle finance you have an asset.

Merc 280Te. I bought it after coming back from travelling round Oz in a Holden. It took us to lots of festivals and a good few surf trips. I just couldn’t keep it in decent condition so had to sell it on 😢

I know they are pretty pricey but you can usually pick them in the sales for about £150 and they will last a lot longer than most.

I have always like Campers but their more casual ones (Pelotas) rather than their proper shoes such as in the link. They really do make some comfy shoes that last well.

I can also recommend Toms brogues. They aren’t traditional looking brogues so might fit the bill. I originally didn’t think my Twill ones were going to last but they have held up really well.

If you want some shoes that will really last then invest in some Red Wing:

I am very jealous DezB as I want to see Idles more than any other band on the planet right now. Unfortunately Belfast is not on their new tour and they are yet to play here. I messaged them on Instagram to see if they would be interested in playing here and they got straight back saying that they had been asking to play here but as yet it hasn’t panned out. I think their guitarist (BoBo) is from here so I am still hopeful.

I can’t comment on VW but I went from previous gen A4 sline estate to current gen Octavia VRS estate and I would say that there’s not that much difference in the interior quality. You do get the sense that the Audi is trying a lot harder to be give that premium, over-engineered feel. But because of this there is less space inside what is a similar length vehicle. I am sure it is also a lot heavier. I prefer driving the Škoda.

Video url only appears to work when you hit return before you hit submit, doesn’t seem a necessary step.

I presume favourites is still unsolved. Is there a plan to reinstate the favourites that users have saved?  If not this is a real pity as I know I save lots of useful threads that I wanted to revisit.

Is there a bug count that is being worked on daily? Just out of interest any figures on this you would share to users?
