I highly doubt that Inspired will be hiding any cracks, I’m sure Bigman will agree with me that they’re pretty much bombproof and £600 is a good price.
In terms of something to play about on, if there’s a lot of walls, steps, big rocks, etc within 10-15mins of your front door then definitely give it a go. Where is it you’re gonna be living? If you go on Trials Forum (I’m a mod on there) it’d be pretty easy to hook up with some other riders to get some basic skills and advice and there’s riders of all ages spread across the country.

If you want any more info or advice on bikes feel free to drop me an email amd I’ll do my best to help you out!

All of mine, 26″,24″ and 20″ trials bikes, CX bike and a work in progress 26″ hardtail, I just can’t bare to part with them on the off chance I’ll fancy a ride one day…

I never used the standard levers with the spyres on my CDF10 but I’ve just had a pair of Tiagra levers fitted (right hand shifter, left hand brake only) and with icetech rotors the brakes are unbelievable, serious stopping power on tap!

Looks like a tidier version of the Jtek shiftmate which I’ve currently got fitted. Be interested to see how the cable wraps around the wheel as on the jtek it goes over a pretty sharp edge meaning there’s a good chance it won’t last too long. Also it had to be setup with a lot of tension in the cable and with minimal amounts of adjustment available when it stretches.
Still, had a little ride today and my Tiagra 10spd shifter worked a dream with the clutch mech.

Completely OT but Tiagra levers on the cable discs on my CDF10 with ice tech rotors are obscenely powerful!

Stockport powder coating might be worth chancing, they do chrome finishes for car wheels and the like so might be able to sort some other finishes out. Also they do a fantastic job and give great service, highly recommend them!

I’m also slowly cracking through the old ones from the beginning. Currently at episode 19 of series 2, gonna be a while before I get to the new ones!

Easy way to deal with couriers, order a 24kg+ kettlebell, that soon sorts them out when they struggle to lift them out the back never mind throw them about!

Nice, that looks a good option to try, still need to sort 1×10 Shimano levers but should be able to source a 2nd hand set a lot easier!

It happened 6 weeks before I started this thread which was almost 6 weeks ago itself

Ah right I’m with you now, absolutely no idea on that one. Can only go off what they’ve told us!

If I bought the Gevenalle shifter I wouldn’t need to buy a new rear mech whereas if I went for SRAM I’d have to get lever/shifter and rear mech but either way I’m looking over £180.

We’ve got a wireless Epson printer and it’s exactly the same situation. Connects to the wireless fine but won’t accept any print jobs so we have to use a usb cable. Tried uninstalling the software many times but nothing seems to work.

@busta I don’t understand the question? The lad was drunk so the police told him he couldn’t ride the bike in his condition, an argument ensued and he got arrested for being drunk and disorderly. My dad’s colleague was outside by now as he heard all the commotion and the police asked if he’d mind the bike being left in his yard for the guy to come and pick up presumably the next day when he’d sobered up and been released, after 6 weeks there was still no sign so he contacted the police to remind them as he had no room for it and was sick of having to look after it, they rang him a few days ago to say that as the bike hadn’t been claimed it was officially classed as unclaimed lost property so he could do what he pleased with it.

@glasgowdan so your saying he should find room to store a bike possibly for a long term purely on the off chance of the guy coming back for it?
I think if he’s not bothered after 3 months then there’s not much chance of it.

As far as I’m concerned we’ve done the right thing.

Our daughter’s gonna turn two next month and she still has one. Comes in handy when we go out as we can just take it to the inlaws next door and they can listen out for her without having to come through (our houses adjoin through the pantry so it’s effectively one large farmhouse).

We used to do this as teenagers years ago whenever we found some old bikes in a skip! Removed the brakes and painted them with a tin of hammerite first though!

Brief update, police were informed, they got back to him to say he can keep the bike as it hasn’t been reported stolen or claimed by anyone and it’s been nearly 3 months.

By lighting the fire! We do have an immersion heater but that doesn’t do the radiators obviously which is a bit of a pain. Hopefully in the near future we’ll be getting a new kitchen stove/boiler which will take over the heating duties and be a bit easier to keep going throughout summer.

Victoria Plum I think is who my sister in law just used for their bathroom bits, I’ve been on and requested a brochure but have no idea whether they’re cheap/good value/etc….
As far as the shower is concerned I know the inlaws next door (we’re all on the same plumbing) have an electric shower in their downstairs bathroom but I always find them to be a waste of time as they lack power, also the pressure dies and it goes freezing cold whenever a tap is run/washing machine is on/father in law washing out.

Adidas Terrex are worth a look. There’s quite a few different styles and the GTX gore-tex lined ones are great. I had a standard pair of approach shoes with stealth soles which were great and the wife has a pair of GTX which she uses a lot in the wet and they do a great job of keeping her feet warm and dry.

I still can’t get over the £1 per spoke charge. I usually use Sapim race double butted spokes which I get 36 of with brass nipples for £15 (and that’s buying from a bike shop). Add to that a wheelbuild price of £15 per wheel which was done up until recently by the guy who builds Danny MacAskills wheels (the best wheelbuilds I’ve ever seen) and that would put me off paying £100 easily.

Waste of time, it’s just another day. The only good thing about New Years is the fact I get paid extra for being in work today.
Not really arsed about the having to pay to get into a pub that’s packed full of people who never go out as I’m one of those people, I only go out maybe twice a year and every time I do I wonder why I bothered!

Not really, have you got neighbours close by?
If you get bees you need to get public liability insurance though this is pretty easily sorted by joining your local bee keeping association. If you’re really interested I’d highly recommend having a look at the Haynes beekeeping manual, either buy a copy (as it will come in handy) or get one from your local library.

I know some people do get away with bees in their gardens but these are usually experienced keepers who know how to position the hives, protect them from the weather, etc…

Trials Forum as I supposedly ride trials (not that that’s happened much in the last 12 months) and I’m a mod on there
STW to fulfil the corner of me that thinks I’m still a MTBer despite not really riding off road for years (nor owning a MTB anymore)
Pinkbike occasionally for the for sale forum to see where I could get ripped off on some knackered bike parts

It’s just the rear, the front is a silver diatech and has a different rim (which plays all sorts of hell with my bike OCD!).
I’ve no idea on price, where do you even start with one?
I suppose I’d just want enough to buy me a Pro 2!

Still, next months pay packet will be stuffed thanks to me doing Boxing Day, yesterday and New Years on Friday!

There’s a wooden bridge in Chapel you go over when heading towards the tramway trail to Buxworth. In the dry it’s fine, add the tiniest bit of moisture and it’s like finely polished ice with a layer of teflon just to make sure and it’s always the front wheel that goes first…..

Couple of dessert spoons of porridge oats, big ass dessert spoon of nut butter (as in 100%, no added crap. I prefer almond), 1 banana, cocoa/cacao powder to taste (or protein shake), top up with 50/50 milk and water then blend.

If you want something easy to use then go for Videopad on a PC/laptop. Really straightforward and doesn’t need loads of memory, definitely recommended!
