As long as the pad depth is around the same depth as the face of the rotor you shouldn’t have any problems

Up at 5:34, one minute before my alarm then off to do a 12hr shift sat on my arse in a signalbox. Arrived here to find I’d forgotten my porridge and weetabix so had to eat dinner as my breakfast and now I’m starving!

On the plus side, since I’ve been here I’ve ordered 2 bike bits online :P

RMT and Dennis The Menace Fan Club.
RMT is a joke though and I don’t agree with 99% of what goes on.

32 and got 2 boys (4+7) and 1 girl (16 months). Wife wanted kids early, I wasn’t really that fussed about having any at any of the times so went along with it. Had times when we were properly skint though that was more my fault buying bike stuff than child related, both boys extremely hard work some of the time but wouldn’t change any of it. Can’t wait for them to be old enough to come out and do things together like proper rides, climbing, motorbikes, etc….

As for people saying no spare money or social life, being on here I assume you have a bicycle of some form or another and time to ride it…..

What’s the deal with the dropbar rule, is that the same for any CX race?

    No good, they’re 28hole

Go for a plug in and if you want to do your beard/chin at the same time pick up some Wahl Balding clippers. Without attachments it’s shorter than standard hair clippers (I think it’s classed as 00) and with the shortest attachment provided it’s the same as normal clippers without a guard. They do come with a slightly longer guard as well and are compatible with all the standard guards.
The best thing with the balding clippers is the blade isn’t adjustable and it makes them so much more robust when your cutting thick hair, a massive improvement over normal!

I’ve got 2 freerides currently, they hold the bikes fine but I’m gonna get a proride next as the clamp is so much more convenient. With the 532 you kind of have to have them setup for certain bikes which can be a pain, also I don’t like how they squeeze steel frames and I’ve cracked one of the clips on mine.

Cheers lads, as for the road and mtb I think the fitting is the same but the offset is quite different. I did find a comparison when I was searching last night and I’m sure there was about 5-6mm in it.

EDIT: Just found it but it was gxp and bb30 that’s different offsets on mtb only.

If you can it might be worth hanging on until after the summer. I rang EE about an early upgrade last week and was told to hold of till September as the iPhone 7 would be released and as a result all the other phone prices will drop quite a bit.

You’d rather go over Martinside into Dove Holes?? Are you some kind of sadist???
I’ve taken that route to work twice, once on my Heckler and once on my Croix De Fer and it is the most obscene climb ever. I’d much rather do the extra half mile up the A6 and still have my lungs!

We had a new Aldi open nearby recently and I shop there99% of the time only going to Morrisons for the stuff I can’t get like wholemeal pasta, brown rice, etc. I spend a fortune on fruit in there and the large packs of chicken breasts are not only cheap but very tasty (and the breasts are very large ;) ). The only thing I don’t like is stuff like the raisins are all injected with sunflower oil and ready meals are seriously high in fats. When you compare to branded stuff a lot of it is pretty unhealthy (have a look at the fat/sugar/salt/etc values in the Dairylea alternative compared to the branded stuff) but generally it’s awesome.

Also I always have a multipack of water in my car now, pack of 12 500ml bottles is about £2 which comes in handy all the time when you just want to grab a bottle!

If you go to The Old Hall or The Papermill make sure you remortgage your house first as it’s a rip off. Beehive in Combs is a good shout though!

As above, pic a pair of forks up from ebay and search for an mpart 1″ headset. I’m doing the same with a 700c frame for my wife and just picked some forks and a headset up for that. You can get an mpart headset for about £17-18 with aluminium cups and sealed bearings!

CX bikes are awesome. I’ve got a Genesis Croix De Fer 10 as a commuter for work, not a fan of drop bars so when I bought it I had some flats fitted. Rode it like that since October and then yesterday I stuck some low risers on and it feels even better now!
The plus point with this is that you can stick regular MTB 10 speed gear on as you get to use sensible shifters hence the shiny Zee mech awaiting fitment on mine this week!

I had a pair of the older style terrex solos without the stealth sole and they lasted over 18 months, a lotof trials riders use the solos with the stealth sole and swear by them. Other ones worth a look for a little less are the slack cruiser slacklining shoes as they have a stealth sole, love mine!

I love my CDF 10, going slightly off the rails with it though it’s still perfect for my commute which is the sole reason I bought it. Currently running the stem flipped with some flat bars and I stuck a 38t narrow wide on the front the other day. Drive train is gonna be swapped to 1×10 and I’ve got some Pro 2’s waiting to be built into a replacement wheelset.
    Awesome bikes, highly recommended!

Only problem I found with the gloves is the thumbs are unbelievably tight, even when I tried a pair of XL on. Worst case though I’ll just chop the thumb off! (the glove that is)

I’ve picked up some gloves, shoes and socks. There was one tray of the various muc off stuff which was already empty by 10:05 and that was their entire stock!

I use one for commuting as I have to ride down some unlit country lanes (well less so now we’re in Spring) and it is brilliant. Like everyone suggests I am careful when charging and have a Lipo charge bag the battery goes in on but haven’t had any problems so far. My main bit of advice if you use the standard charger/battery for a while is to make sure the battery is fully run down before recharging.

Also come in handy when a cow needs a caesarian in a poorly lit cow shed in the early hours….

Yeah that’s my thinking, my Santa Cruz is running a 32 with 11/36 and I used to commute on that. The current setup is a 34/50 up front.

One other thing, if I go 38 on the front will that be too light for general commuting duties?

Probably should have mentioned, I run flat bars with some standard Deore shifters currently so there’s no problem regarding shifter compatability!

Both my boys have had a couple of Bell Amigo’s http://www.halfords.com/cycling/helmets/kids-helmets/bell-amigo-bike-helmet-blue-flames-50-55cm. My eldest actually came off his bike when he was 3 and cracked his helmet (was a hell of a crash) but once he’d settled down he was back on the bike and away again so I decided to stick with those!
