A friend of mine did it “backwards” in April starting off in Fort Bill at around 10:30pm and finishing early the next morning. He did it on his tod and managed fine but I imagine it’s harder doing it the proper way??

As far as I know chest hair can interfere (according to the instructions in mine anyway) so that could be part of the problem. Are you really wetting the back when you put it on?
Mine is only a cheap one I got free from uni, probably the same as yours, and seems to be ok but I do have the strap really tight to stop it slipping.

I’ve got both a 591 and a couple of 532’s on our Corolla Verso roof. As mentioned they do destroy fuel on long journeys but they’re so easy to fix bikes on and I struggle as I have trials bikes with high bottom tubes and low top tubes which makes clamping them a nightmare (the 532 clamp doesn’t reach the downtube on either my 20″ or 26″).
Wish I’d gone for 591 to start with!

Generally though people tend to go for either a 32t or 34t sprocket depending on the riding and the size of the cassette. I have a 32t up front with 36/11 10 speed cassette for riding in the Peaks which I manage with fine. As for the direct mount choice it depends on what cranks you are running?

From what I have seen/read it seems to me like Russia actually have an interest in ending the conflict and have absolutely no problem bombing the s**t out of IS, whereas there is a large presence of extremism in the UK and USA I would imagine that in Russia this isn’t the case so/or their government aren’t afraid of upsetting them. The yanks especially don’t like this as Russia has always been seen as the enemy hence the propoganda from them.

I could be completely wrong however….

Every tag along bike I’ve ever seen has had the kid hanging on for dear life as the bike sits pissed up to one side. I take it that’s down to a cheapness factor?

Smashed it this morning after a nightshift, we did a block of half an hour non stop followed by 2 mins of light work to recover then another 15 mins high resistance. Heart rate monitor had me down as burning 990kcals, not sure how accurate as it’s the first time I’ve worn it to spin but it felt about right!

ononeorange, be suggesting this to my mate who runs our local. I’m just starting a fitness degree course with the OU part of which requires me to get a gym instruction certificate so might go down the Spinning route for that!

Then you should have added more resistance. I’m not sure how your class works but the one I do (tomorrow morning incidentally) the instructor says throughout the percentage of our max effort we should working at so if you find it pretty easy going then just make it harder.

Yeah, you’d be better doing it the other way around if you wanted to do both the same day.

Skipped most so if this has already been said then I apologise but the way I would go about it would be a 3 day split at the gym with push, pull and legs covered, rides on your rest days and either the entire weekend off or fit in some pilates/yoga with one day completely rested.

Monday – Push
Tuesday – Ride
Wednesday – Pull
Thursday – Ride
Friday – Legs
Saturday – Yoga/Pilates
Sunday – Rest

Talking to a friend at the gym today who’s dad did it with him as support. Sounded like a great day with the weather and all but I heard about the nasty crash, something about a guy just heard a snap come from his neck so just lay on the ground awaiting assistance as he didn’t dare move. I hope everything was ok and it wasn’t too serious!

I’ll go with the hamstring related job due to your achilles injury. I broke my ankle a few years ago and as a result the hamstring in the same leg is immensely tight. It’d be worth stretching your hamstrings religously a few times a day or do as numbnut suggests, it’s the same scenario with me and kettlecise!

1×10 on my CdF in the High Peak (so also slightly hilly) for commuting duties and such. I think it’s a 38t chainring with 11/36 cassette which works out perfect.

Here are the trials forks I mentioned though you need to watch what headset you run with the Echo’s as they have a built in crown race for use with any headset with a sealed 36° or 45° cartridge bearing on the lower cup (but not Chris King, as the taper is too small).

Agreed, all that’s ever happened when I put too much in was the car smoked a little until it was burnt off. Iff you put it in after filling up it wouldn’t make that much of a difference, especially not enough to gunk up the plugs.
