These, in fact (not actually mine).

Okay, maybe not that ancient. I think they were pretty decent at the time – four clamps etc.

Me? Absolutely ancient (I mean ancient) Salomons.

Nice. I think I recognise some of those trees…

…I have put Orange stickers all over them to solve that!
    Edit: They are K2 ‘Silencer’s.

Thanks. I’m not really sure where the runs were because it was the first time I’d been to Schladming and I hadn’t really got my bearings. Most of it was shot on Planai though.

    Twentytwelves in action!

Ah – another pair of K2s. I don’t know the model though as they were second hand. They’ve got graphics of guns on them unfortunately, if that helps. Twin-tip, reasonably wide. If the topic is good skis though then I’ll contribute with some center-mounted Salomon Twentytwelves that I once rented. They were amazing!

To start at the beginning: They were rented skis – K2 I think – as I’ve only just stopped growing. In fact, I bought my first pair of skis at the end of that holiday. I haven’t had a chance to try them out yet though. Thanks for the ski-related compliment. I’m starting to get the hang of the pow…

I’ll be the first to say it then… Orange Five! If it’s too expensive new then look out for a used one. There are loads here and on Pinkbike.

Haven’t joined this thread before, but I thought this might entertain.
From an end-of-season half term holiday in Schladming.
Edit: couldn’t get it to work…

Just recently I had “HERE, YOU’RE RIDING DOWN THAT?! MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU!” – not sure if that counts…
The thing that gets me though is when you see people wearing their helmets like skullcaps on the back of their head. If they crash, they will have no benefit at all.

Second that. There are very few occasions when I use flats…

I can afford to miss Sadgill as I live really nearby. That’s what makes it embarrassing that I haven’t ridden Nan Bield before!

Oh, only just seen your post mrh86. Sounds like a good idea – we’ll just have to be extra polite to any walkers. I suppose it’d be good to cut out that long section of track into Longsleddale

Thanks. I think I’ll probably go for the north side. If Danny Mac can ride it then it must be easy…

Hope. Much easier to service than others, cheap second hand, easy to bleed and usually don’t break in the first place. With Avid you have to buy a (£50) bleed kit with special fittings.

People will probably disagree, but I kept hitting my big ring so I just took it off. Middle rarely gets hit because it’s quite high up and it’s only ever the chain that gets scraped anyway.

Woop for full length cables. Look neater and last longer. Open cables are for road bikes… ;)

Thanks for the replies. I’ll look on Fox but I guess I’ll have to send them away.

You can use the old cage on the new mech – there’s a grub screw on the part of the body that the cage mounts to. If you undo it the original cage will pop out and you can slide the new one in, being careful to connect it with the spring.

(I’m running my deore with an xt cage after a bit of a bend)

As well as what’s in that picture, you do actually get some surprisingly useful pad spacers.

The Avid bleed kit costs 50 quid. I’ve got a pair of Avids and a pair of Hopes and the Hopes are much nicer to bleed (and require no kit).

Agreed, contacts are amazing! I rarely ride with any cycling glasses either and I haven’t had any problems. I’ve also just made a strip of inner tube to go across my forks to avoid any spray, which has worked really well.

Last year’s. The lantern inside was amazing!
(quite a triumph given that, at 14, I was the oldest there…)

You could always try a swap…
One of my friends[/url] is trying to swap his Domain 318 (I think) uturns, and I think he might be interested in shorter travel. If you don’t use PinkBike you can have his email address.

Scott spark is great. Easy to clean in British mud, carbon or aluminium and pretty cheap if you look around. Great all-round as well. ;)

I use SPD’s, but I’ve had loads of problems compared to my dad who’s on Time. I’d prefer to switch to Time eventually. :)

I was proud of that one! :-)
