    Hi Nick,

    Cheers for that!

I have an '05 HL, so good news.

Was it simply a case of replace outer ring with bash-guard, and adjust the limit screw on the mech?

If so – I can't imagine there being any problems….

    "Sheepshagger" by Niall Griffiths

This is the story of Ianto: the feral, inarticulate, inbred, ignoble savage; haunter of mountains, killer of innocents. Ianto is a sheepshagger — a yokel, a Welsh redneck. But Ianto is also a seer, a visionary — the genius loci — who comprehends nature with a Blakean intensity, and is at one with the world he lives in: the moss and lichen, the lamb and the raven, the summit and the scree.

Robbed of his ancestral home — a near-derelict hovel in the mountains of west Wales — Ianto pledges revenge not only on the English yuppies who have turned his grandmother's cottage into a weekenders' barbecue party but on all those who have violated him and the land that is his. The oppression and abuse that Ianto has faced triggers his lurid imagination into unspeakable savagery — embodying the most primal fears of physical threat and a world beyond his control.

An extraordinary prose amalgam of Old Testament prophecy and demotic slang, of Faulkner and Cormac McCarthy, Sheepshagger is written in a language charged to the highest level: lyrical and hieratic, saturated — like nature — in beauty and violence. And the spirit of its place, Ianto, at once both Caliban and Prospero, will hang in the memory of all who read his story like a devil or a god.

I agree with Mike's point about the change in sellers.

For a couple of years I was buying and selling on ebay, and generating some extra funds for Uni.

No chance I'd be doing that with the same regularity/scale these days.

None here yet either (West London) but postal strikes etc as well as the Bank Holiday wwekend/printers etc explain it.

I've got the Camo version of the Cosmo Plus, after much umming and aahing…

No drop tail, but very very cosy and some nice features – stitched-in "gloves", lots of pockets, large reflective areas, nice fleeced collar. The single shoulder/arm pocket on the right does let a draft in thought!!

STW mag did a softshell grouptest (Last XMAS?) so you can find some good info there.

I do prefer the "purer" bike-specific technicality and features of my Endura Stealth – Dropped back, rubber "grippy" waistline, split pit-zips for use with backpack, zipped wrist on sleeves, large rear pocket etc but find I reach for the Cosmo far more often, and its quite often what I wear on a casual basis too, as it has a very comforatble fit.

Aye – another vote for motorbike shops, Silkolene stuff for me!

Like Bomberman I also blended a mix of 10wt and 5wt, as 7.5wt seemed hard to source at the time.

Suited me perfectly, as I could tune oil weights for my far less hefty Bro and my (then) GF.

    Fair points pantsonfire… : )

Anytime I've built, its been a project/taking advantage of pairing up cheap hubs/rims with new spokes on a purely "as and when" basis, rather than out of pure necessity.

Still got some mint unbuilt 717s waiting to be dealt with, so I'm gutted I let the pair of Pro2s slip away on ebay!

Oh well, like any well made wheel, other bargains will roll along…

pantsonfire…. I dunno about that – I agree with new spokes @ £15 a wheel (CRC), but I've always found 2nd hand hubs can be picked up for absolute bargains… Just lat night I let a pair of 32hole Hope Pro2 hubs slip away for the bargain price of £55!! Rims too – often new and unused from other peoples' unrealised wheel builds..

    Seek and ye shall find!

I got my last set of bearings from these guys…

    http://www.fish4parts.co.uk/Mechanical.80/Bearings.1093/Pop+Metric+Bearings.1/

They are made by these guys:

    http://www.nke.at/en/products/standard-bearings/deep-groove-ball-bearings/

Full double-lip labyrinth seals (thats the "RS2" bit on the bearing), and they stock every size any bike will ever need!

Got everything I needed for a complete Intense M1 overhaul for £15 delivered.

Gonna try a 2-part epoxy adhesive as its always cheap in the local 99p shops…

    I'm up for this!

I spotted your invitation thread earlier – but wasn't sure what my plans were.

Currently in West London, but used to Live in Surbiton, so it'd be fun to see Richmond Park/Thames etc

Might even bring the rigid Tinbred, with Panniers for supplies!

Jealous!! Not at the bikes, specifically, more the having an empty van and a skip!!

Free stuff is always good – especially if you can have fun fettling/tinkering and maybe even pass on to a friend/charity who needs a runaround bike.

Yeah – I get the "too USA" point… Trawling WWW does show a few nice black ones – The gray is nice and purposeful too.

Bit like a Ferrari though – You kind of expect an Intense to be red!

    Any more opinions folks?

    LBS is wrong, I feel.

Absolutely no need to rebuild the caliper, or replace seals.

When cleaning, replacing or upgrading (older Hope metal to new phenolic for example) pistons, you can simply pump them out and slide them in again – as long seals are lubed with brake fluid and they go in straight, and there is no debris/mud/crud.

    Hope that reassures : )
