    Bearings should always be smooth.

Knock and run & hedge hopping! Used to do the conifer bouncing thing but didn’t have a name for it.

Scrumping was a real favourite too. Bl00dy hell we had some close ones!

@Ryan91 – Ya beat me to with a skills course. B&B at a riding location is a flippin’ brialliant idea! Gone have me one of them as prezzie myself. I usually camp when away.

Try a tarp. I love mine to bits. 8ft by 10 ft and 255g of sil-nylon goodness. I also have an ultralight moz net with a sil-nylon floor. Probably weighs <200g. One of the main attractions of the tarp are the number of pitching options depending on weather.

8×10 is massive for one person and gear when in fully stormproof pitch.

@ Carlos. Cheers! Will give Smudge at MTBBatteries a go. He’s not far from where I work.

Sadly it is not just the cable that I have norsed up, but the ‘male’ connector in the lamp head too. I’m certain they are standard parts from RS or suchlike but it is knowing what to get and which bits to wire to. Like most folks on this thread I love my Trout light and I am proper p!$$ed of with myself for knackering It up whilst caving.

So Smudge or Troutie if either of you are out there shout up. I’d hate to lose my Liberator.

Smudge – I work just North of Lichfield. If possible I could drop in for you to assess the damage.

Having wrecked my Sworks Epic I’m now on a Frankenstein Marin Rift Zone XC8. It’s not as quick as the Spesh but is more fun. I still have a Haro Mary too. Steel hardtail 29er. Mostly winter duties so outfitted with mudguards.

Riding ’em mostly in Sutton Park, Cannock Chase, Peak District and Wales.
Happy to hook up with N. Birmingham riders if there’s any out there.

Glad to find this. I didn’t know Chris had retired. Shame!
I have a Lumen Liberator too. Superb light.
Chris, if you are reading this thread I need a repair. I was filming a caving trip using the Lib as lighting. Sadly I have knackered both ends of the three pin connector. Whilst in a crawl I think the lamp/cable got twisted and the little pins have sheared off.
I’ve lost your email from when I bought the light. I hope you can advise on a repair.

Unsure of how well online specification of my prescription would translate to some Adidas, Rudy Project or Oakley* stuff I had my most recent prescription in some Rx insert type i828s. Sure they’re not ‘the coolest’ but they come with interchangeable lenses – clear, dark and amber.

Sweaty and foggy on hot and humid days. All good otherwise and when moving.

*If anyone has any positive feedback on these I’d be keen to know. I’m 6.5 & 7.0 if that helps.

Oh for heathens sake why cables? Hydraulics. Every. Single. Time.

    It’s not 1992.

Obvious troll to provoke this response?

Cannot fault my Satmap Active 12. Full UK OS 1:25000 HD mapping. Cannot get lost with it.

When plotting routes I place a waypoint before any turn. The Satmap beeps, I wake the wcreen up to see which way to go. Perfect for XC routes.

A lorra lorra votes for Malt Loaf. One word. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm

Indestructible. Waterproof. Withstands a huge temperature range. And. Is. Frankly. Delicious.

Flapjacks. Homemade. Make what YOU like. A solid gold calorie bomb.

Pepperami. See comments above re: malt loaf.

(Quietly surprised I was first with Pepperami.)

Surprised we’ve got this far without a vote for The Descent.

Why do cavers need ice axes? Oh wait. It’s to brain Zombie cave dwelling types.

    Or…

The Wicker Man (Nicholas Cage version). It was so bad even the cast knew it. Noone appeared to be trying. Terrible film.

My Wife & I are looking to get a woodburner. We live in a Victorian house that has an open fire (a lot of faff – I’ve used a woodburner, cleaner, easier, less faff.) My question is regarding the chimney. Can I assume if my brick lined victorian chimney is o.k. for my open fire, will it be o.k. to use with a woodburner without modification?
