Vaude Hogan for more than 10 years. Bombproof in all weathers. Ludicrously quick set up. Never an issue with ventilation. Still my go to tent when camping on a site. If wild camping, multi-day walking or bike packing it’s a tarp these days.

Just had a look on the Vaude website. The Hogan no longer has the exo-poles. The ‘Mark’ does though.

DEET is well known for attacking plastics. As a climber, I make sure the stuff never gets near ropes, draws and slings. Never tried it near my bike helmet, never will having seen yours. Bin it and treat yourself to a new one.

It’s all down to hoop control. Practice over the thunder closet. Then move to the bath/shower. Progress to some gruts you don’t mind losing to the inevitable squitter you weren’t quite ready for.

    ‘Delta’ when they mean difference.

Yes, I know Delta does indeed mean difference in a mathematical context, but not in the difference between anticipated and actual sales.

Yeah! I’m with flapjack too. Mortgage paid off two weeks ago. Good(ish) job – well paid at least. Looking to declutter rather than acquire more.

More time to ride bikes, climb, cave and shoot would be nice. Pity works asks so much.

I was going to post similar numbers to above. Then I re-read the thread title. Ah! Per year. Hmmm! At least those numbers per week.

What about numbers for Coke & hookers? Time for another thread?

It would be easy to ‘dis’ him as being part of that entertainment era when there was nowt else on and say he was an annoying prat, as some folk I know might say, but what a master of his craft!

The chop cup routine as above, the magic kettle, bunco booth and under laboratory conditions stick in my mind as the magic that was Paul Daniels.

Only good news is it seems to have been quick.

    RIP.

Yeah, pretty much what brakes and adsh said. Try to be professional about it, but remember this is about you and what you want. You don’t want to be there so why should you? If they cannot agree to your very reasonable request and professional attitude, advise them politely that it has got to be better than you slouching around with your thumb up your ar$€ when you can be bothered to turn up.

I guess it depends on what you are looking for, where you are and how far you plan to travel. Could you provide more detail as to what the purpose of the bivvy trip is and maybe I can help.

Are you bike bivvying? If so then Cannock Chase, as already mentioned is a good start, plenty big enough to ride around, when tired find somewhere and doss down. Of course the same holds true if you aren’t on the bike, but I hazarded a guess that given you’ve posted here you might be biking it.

I thought it might be to do with eating asparagus.

Milton fluid or sterilising solution from your local brew shop (a much cheaper option than Milton) keeps bladders clean.

Wow! There are some choons here from BitD! Reliving a lot of memories.

(Slight thread hijack. With the knowledge of this era on show here – does anyone recall a an animated video with a train, train driver or conductor?)

Also consider that your bike / bikes (in your case) will probably obscure your rear lights, indicators and license plate. This means the additional faff of a light and plate board.

Tsk! Tsk! STW. How can we get this far into a thread on head torches with no mention of a Scurion?

Available in the U.K. from Starless River.

Wl’s Hilleberg would be hard to beat at that price.

For flexibility and lightness it is hard to beat a tarp. Can be rigged in so many ways to suit location, weather, mood, etc.
Rig off trees or rocks (or carry poles) but you have your bike – front wheel off, frame upside down rig tarp off forks. Can use wheel guyed out at the other end if required. Bonus is no-one can nick your bike in the middle of the night / wilds (not likely but is a bonus.)
Get a bug bivvy too. MLD’s bug bivvy is ace and featherlight.

Yep, I remember how to win the spitting contest. The order of rocks in the ‘rock chute’ puzzle would challenge me though.

Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders anyone?

Get a proper one fitted. The bodge-it-yerself ‘screw into an existing pipe’ types are quite poor. They only pierce a small hole in the pipe which doesn’t allow enough flow/pressure.

Also make sure you can isolate the outside tap from inside if/when we get a cold snap. A plumber will always do this for you.

Just went back and ticked ’em all off again. I’d missed out on typing in a couple of early ones as I was racing through.
65/65. A good challenge that. My more like it out there?

Stuck on 63. I’ve got all the ones which seem to be stumping most folks. I think there are two I simply cannot see.

Warm & toasty. I also find them a bit long in the leg. Either wrinkle them up or fold them inside, or outside if you’re wearing gaiters when the weather is really gash.

    Rate them highly through winter.

Practice on balloons not your face.

Get smallish ones. Blow them up to a firm feel that you can hold in one hand. Lather them up. Stand in front of mirror. Attempt to shave the lather off the balloon.

    Nervous?

Well, it’s not just me then. I had a wobbly wheel, took the tyre off, check for true, all good. “How odd!”, I thought. Put the tyre back on, all wobbly again.
    New tyre, all good.
    True story, happy ending!

(Old tyre = Spesh, new tyre = Maxxis)

Endless use of “You know”. Typical in interviews with sports / acting ‘celebrities’.

    + 1 for “Can I get”.

We are also seeing “math” and “do the math”. Aaaaarrrrrgh! Particularly when in fact simple arithmetic will suffice.

    I’m having rabbit stew tonight.

Mrs. IN has prepped some ricciarella as a test batch for Christmas food & booze prezzies.
Can report in later on them when cooked if needed.

French onion soup. Really cook them onions down. At least 45 mins. Wine & brandy. Gruyere baguette toasty bits on top are a must.

Harira. A spicy chickpea & chicken soup. Often eaten to break a Ramadan fast. Utterly delicious. A real warmer with mellow North African spices. Can omit the chicken if you are a veggie.

    Crab chowder.

    Carrot and coriander.

Broccoli and Stilton. Also works as a Christmas leftover in the guise of sprout and Stilton. Oh that works. Stand clear though eh?

    Classic Italian Ribolitta.

As others have said, butternut squash and curried parsnip are true Autumn / winter classics.

Stews? Take your pick. Onions, carrots, celery of course. Your choice of beer or wine with stock. Beef? Rabbit? Chicken? Pearl barley? Mushrooms towards the end? Knob of butter or dollop of yog to finish? Slow cooked oxtail is a fave. Always seems a bit odd opening a can of ale before going to work. Ho hum.
Ooh don’t forget them thar dumplings.

It’s Autumn. You are limited by your imagination and your ability to Google recipes.
