i’d buy either the commencal or lappiere, both are proven designs, with good back up.

Two good friends of mine have said that theyve seen one it was ‘bigger than a doberman, black and definitely a cat’. They arent the sorts to make something like that up either. That was in ashridge hertfordshire

This news saddens me, but also brings a smile to my face, wierd i know. ‘The last fighting tommy’ by Harry Patch is still one of my favourite books. It’s such a shame that we will never learn from our past mistakes.

haha, some of you lot really are a bit up yourselfs… I knew exactly what was going on, it doesnt change the fact is was boring, dull, and oh did i say? Boring

i thought it was realy boring to be honest, but then i like films like crank, and blades of glory…

defnitely worth it, they have helped me with wrist issues, and help to relieve the pain of a shoulder injury. A friend has had similar experiences.

I have one of these –

at least no else will be able to ride it, so you dont have to worry about it getting stolen…

i like that first video alot. I’d love to ride those trails, although i’d rather wait for the spring, as im a bit soft…

This thread has made me think. I know some very basic first aid, but not how to do cpr. Where could I get training?

All these stories of tubes popping out etc is starting to worry me. Maybe I would be better off selling it to some trendy kid in london and buying something more ‘traditional’?

there was one exceedingly disgusting picture though, I feel like the image has been burned into my retinas. Trust me people you dont want to know.

haha, i have some aluminium kinesis forks on it at the moment, the ammount of flex when i brake is ridiculous, i can see the axle of the wheel moving backwards and forwards. This may be something that i have to change, as its not very confidence inspiring

yeah, its a bonded aluminium frame from 1995, made by alan, built with relatively cheap parts ( it still weighs sod all) so i dont think it will be up to any real ‘abuse’ even though it has never been built up before. I just allways used to end up seeing a path on my road bike rides and shooting of down them. THis often used to result in puncture so i thought it would make more sense to get a bike that could take that. I anticipate a 50/50 mix of road and off road

um, not gonna be doing any races on it, I’m mainly going to be using it as ‘training’ bike. I think I will just go for a 25 tooth cassette out back, at the worst it will just make me work harder

um, well, I’m not sure, ive just been looking at the price of road sti’s, they are rather expensive… But I could sell a set of xt 9speed shifters, and rear mech, in terms of drivetrain. What do you need?

    iridebikes

is that with a triple or double chainset though?

    iridebikes

um, I might just sell some bits to buy some drops and sti’s now. Would a mtb mech be likely to work though, if i got it in the right size? its a very thin seat tube

yeah, thats what I would do. I used to own a mmm bop, which was a good bike, but very slack and really I think I want a xc bike that feels as close to a bmx as possible but is still good for climbing etc, and descending. Basically i want the moon on a stick.

I love the genesis, i might just stick with it

Most bikes are alot stronger than you’d think, and can take much more abuse than most people will ive them. Thats my experience anyway

i got told off when i went out with the local road club, as i was in the habit of pointing tohe potholes out, then just hopping over them anyway. They also didnt approve of my peaked helmet, baggy shorts or mtb shoes and pedals 🙂

i dont have any pics of my bikes, but they include a steel 120mm xc hardtail, a 4x type hardtail, an ancillotti dh bike thats half built , a bmx built for riding trails vert and bowls, and a cyclocross bike with a 20 year old frame that is currently being built as a project. Oh and a 165mm travel ‘all mountain’ frame that im currently debating what to do with.

ziggy, that video hurts my brain, there is far too much spinning and flipping of bikes in there. This is my kind of dirt / trails

yeah, i’ve heard other people say that, and to be honest, i like his riding, his 360 to decades are awesome, and i remember seeing another edit in that warehouse that reminded me of hoffman, with some of the combos he was throwing down. I guess part of his attitude is a sort of stage personality.

It is good, but i know i will never be able to do any of that stuff and I dont really want to. To be honest he allways comes across as an idiot. This is much more to my liking –

I agree, they look like great, jedi if its you building them, you are doing an excellent job. I presume we are talking about the ones near ‘the rollercoaster’ ?

yes, Im working on some new build flats that are just using a humidity controlled extractor fan inplace of a proper cooker hood.

actually i think i should say that I probably would agree with kaesae, but his arguments are perhaps not the best thought out. There is no need to be offensive though, and if you cant sympathise with his views at least a little bit, I feel quite sorry for you.
