You need to think back very carefully over the last month (or two) there will be clues;
Internet left on repeatedly at a particular shoe site? Comment about her favourite perfume nearly running out? A remark about a nice dress she’s seen whilst shopping with so and so – this one’s really cunning because by dropping the name of the accomplice, she knows that you know someone who knows exactly which dress it was. Looking in a mirror for ages and then asking if you can see any wrinkles?
If all else fails, pearl necklace!
irelanstFree MemberI don’t use AutoCAD but should be able to open it in NX. Send it over to the E-mail in my profile and I’ll give it a shot.
irelanstFree MemberI don’t think it’s been mentioned yet, so I’ll vote for Wickwar. No rail links into Bristol, but there’s a fairly direct rat run in. Maybe up to Charfield or possibly Tytherington?
irelanstFree MemberFavourite drink is a Bellini made with Veuve BUT not with Prosicko as it ruins it.
I have quite a few Italian friends who would take issue with that!
irelanstFree MemberBefore cutting anything I would do some power measurements if I were you.
When I was at uni I managed to blag some time in a wind tunnel. I could get my back very flat which lowered the drag but it also dropped the power quite a bit mainly because it was difficult to keep my arse on the saddle, all the weight was going through my arms. By lifting the front end it put more weight onto the saddle which felt more solid and I could output more watts which overcame the increase in drag. Also because my back wasn’t as flat I found that angling the tri-bars up so my hands were level with my chin helped reduce drag and was better for me at realistic speeds (flat arms was better at 40mph+), all years before Floyd Llandis started doing it!
Non of it helped me crack 20mins for a 10 even on V718 when the container ships were unloading though!
irelanstFree MemberMy wife loves it, I can take it or leave it.
At the moment though she’s mainly drinking cocktails like Champagne Mojitos or another one with Limoncello and mint so I can get away with buying sparkling Chardonnay or Prosecco instead :wink:
irelanstFree MemberSorry I can’t comment on the tubes either, but what sort of macro do you want to do?
Bugs and creepy crawlies might be difficult with tubes due to how close the lens needs to be to the subject so they will be scared off, I have the EF-S 60mm macro and getting close enough to insects for 1:1 images is very hit and miss (unless you’re happy to chill them of course) or pick something slow moving;
As mentioned the Tamron is well respected, and the older Canon 100mm (the non L version) was/is excellent if you can find one second hand. The MP-E65 is also an amazing lens, but expensive and very niche.
irelanstFree MemberFrom the guy who sits behind me at work (who’s French speaking Belgian)
Hyperplasie congénitale des surrénales (HCS) par déficit en 21-hydroxylase: sur les stéroïdes
I did a check and google translate does translate that^ back to the English phrase. It also seems to tie in with French wiki;
http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperplasie_cong%C3%A9nitale_des_surr%C3%A9nales
NOTE: He is not a doctor though.
irelanstFree MemberI had a pee next to Richey Edwards from the Manics in the Leadmill a few days before he went missing, I don’t think the two incidents were related.
I was in a hotel jacuzzi when Danii Minogue sauntered over and got in, I like to think she looked disappointed when my wife got in a few minutes later.
irelanstFree Membersportsdays are always during working hours, so I don’t get to go
You don’t get any holidays at work? It’s one of those things that I wouldn’t want to miss so am happy to take leave for it if needs be.
I only just made it last year due to working away but got to the school in time to see her win her race, awfully dusty those school playing fields.
irelanstFree MemberI’ve always used plumbers tape because I have a roll in my toolbox – never had one seize or creak and it helps if the threads are a bit slack.
But if I couldn’t find it would use either copper slip or loctite whichever came to hand first.
irelanstFree MemberWe had a party a few weeks ago and all the dads from my daughters class were there;
Two of the dads are footballers, another dad played college football in the US and another one plays basketball at a high standard, there was hardly a fat middle aged IT worker amongst them. I’m going to get my arse handed to me on a plate!
irelanstFree MemberThe problem with your criteria is the processing power needed to run maps means you’re looking at £200+ minimum
That isn’t true; the Dakota costs about £100 which is less than the Garmin 500 mentioned above and displays full colour maps and routes.
irelanstFree MemberI’ve been on a couple where future BILs have been asked. Generally they have been fine but one did get a bit uppity when the groom was telling the group about his future wife’s bedroom preferences and later when the groom disappeared for ‘afters’ at a lap dancing place.
I was invited on my BILs before he married my sister, I went karting in the afternoon, then onto a pub for a meal/few beers. I left before things got too raucous, but that was mainly because I didn’t like him or his mates much.
So I guess it depends on how you perceive your sister and how much of a nobber the groom is?
irelanstFree MemberI use a Dakota for everything, bike, geocaching, running and walking. I don’t use the turn-by-turn navigation so I can’t comment on that (I don’t think my maps support it anyway). I just follow the arrow on the map.
irelanstFree MemberThe mens Olympic, World and National champions disagree…
The women would presumably agree :wink:
irelanstFree MemberI was in a shop with my daughter and her friend and they were sorting through the bottles looking for their names;
“You won’t find your names, they’re only Dutch names”
“Oh, OK we’ll look for Koen then”, Koen is a Dutch friend, it’s pronounced koon.
“Come on you two, we have to go”
“We can’t find any Koen’s”
“Let’s go” we left and carried on walking down the street with the friends mum.
“Dad, can we go and look for Koen’s in that shop?”It took some explaining to the mother I can tell you.
irelanstFree MemberDo you have to stop for customs entering/leaving Switzerland ?
There are occasional spot checks on the Dutch border for cars leaving to Germany and Belgium, they let the dogs have a sniff around the car and your back on your way. My wife cross the Belgian border nearly every day and has been stopped twice this year.
I’ve always had delays when driving down through Germany, often a complete closure of the motorway. That said when the traffic is flowing you make fast progress. The Route through France is usually fairly quiet and if you nip in to Luxembourg it will give you the chance to pick up some cheap fuel and booze!
irelanstFree MemberMy wife has done the Eindhoven one and the Rotterdam one in the last few weeks, Eindhoven 5k was won in 16:36 and the Rotterdam 10k in 36:19 – not much nattering or ambling going on IMO.
irelanstFree MemberWe do it in reverse Europe to UK quite often and as said rabies (I’m pretty sure it’s at least 3 months before) and worming 48hrs before, get the vet to check your chip for the return journey. We’ve had problems at the ferry port with our chip, but it always works OK at the vets, they’ve always let us travel anyway (unless you work for DEFRA in which case we’ve had to leave the dog behind :wink:). Get some tick-off as well, there seems to be a lot for ticks about this year.
I’m pretty sure you have to leave him in the car on the Ferry.
We’ve never taken the dog on the Calais to Dover route but on the ZeeBrugge / Rotterdam overnighters there are kennels on the car deck where you can leave the dog, they vary in size and are limited in availability though. Whilst they won’t admit to it when you book you can go down to check on them during the night if you really must.
It’s a long journey for a dog though, 2 hours before sailing you are stuck in the ‘pen’ with only concrete for them to walk about on, then 12 hours sailing and probably another hour through customs before you can find the nearest
childrens playparkgrass area for them to ‘go’. Our dog seems to cope OK with the whole thing though. A couple of hours in the car for the Dover-Calais would be a piece of cake I would think.irelanstFree MemberI would say the vice is fine where it is if you’re right handed, but put it on the other end of the bench if your a wrong ‘un.
irelanstFree MemberIIRC Strava matches a segment only if it’s segement data and your GPS measurements are within a certain tolerance, even if your start and end points are the same as the segment, the intermediate points have to agree for it to count – I get the same problem on one of my runs, It only recognises it as a segment maybe one out of three times (it’s in the woods so the signal is flakey).
wwaswas: my wife did a 10k yesterday and that didn’t show up as her PB either. The Garmin only measured it as 9.95km so she was a bit short. When you overlay the course route with the GPX it shows a few corners cut which was down to the recording interval. She did get a 400m PB though of 42 seconds, so I suspect a false reading somewhere!
irelanstFree Memberdoes it really matter
That depends, are the scratches battles scars from use which clearly show how gnar you are? Or are the scratches from when you came home one night after work to find that your wife had been out for a ride with friends and lent your bike to another bloke who was so stunted that he had to put the seat down 4” by seemingly screwing the seatpost back and forth into the frame removing all traces of anodising from the aforementioned 4” of post?
irelanstFree MemberI would agree that Stroud is a must buy, but a lot of the subjects in your list are covered here;
http://www.hoddereducation.co.uk/SiteImages/e2/e2ffa77b-e556-4022-9c40-3dfed364c8ea.pdf
I would imagine that they would expect a pretty good understanding of most of the subjects from your list before you start TBH
irelanstFree Membermore if a dog would be happy riding in a bike trailer and if anyone does this
Tried it once with ours, imagine a hyperactive tazmanian devil from loony tunes! She really didn’t like it at all, but then again each dog will be different and if introduced to a trailer at an early age might be OK?
irelanstFree MemberI got woken this morning at 3am by my daughter, “Daddy, the man in my room can’t find his squirrel, I think it’s hiding under the bed”.
She often sleepwalks and talks. We just shepherd her back into bed and she seems fine. I did check and there wasn’t a squirrel or man in her room, unless he was hiding in her wardrobe of course, I wasn’t going to look in there just in case.
irelanstFree MemberWashable pens FTW
White spirit usually works, but you will take some of the paint off with it.
irelanstFree Memberis it possible to kill two birds with one stone and store them together?
Yes, that’s what normally happens. The documents are converted to PDF or TIFF and uploaded to a server.
The documents have been managed using using various tools, Agile in the last 2 places and Teamcenter at the moment.
irelanstFree MemberIn all of the companies I have worked in recently the operating manual has been part of the technical file (I’m assuming your products are CE marked). The technical files have all been electronic and when audited (ISO and FDA audits) have been acceptable.
irelanstFree MemberHighly intrigued about how you patent a shape as the parameters must be so exact that it would almost be impossible to infringe anyway
It would be very difficult you’re right. You can register “design rights” (if you’re in the EU you ‘get’ design rights automatically, or you can register the design to get improved protection; I think Cervelo are in Canada where there are no automatic rights) but to be able to make any claims against those rights the design has to be identifiably different to other preceding designs. For example; You can’t take the design of a Venge, move the top tube a few mm and claim that it’s a your new design and register it.
Ultimately though you can have your designs and ideas locked down tighter than a gnats chuff but unless you’re prepared to sue a Chinese company that can disappear overnight in a cloud of falsified paperwork then you are on a hiding to nothing.
Disclaimer for Grum: I am not a patent lawyer, but I know a man who is :wink:
irelanstFree MemberIt’s still IP theft surely?
Legally? Only if it breaches one of Cervelos patents, which on a cursary search it doesn’t. Put a Cervelo sticker on it though and it becomes a counterfit so could (should) be seized by customs, and you might get a telling off.
I think Cervelo registered the word “Squoval” as a trademark, not the tube profile – you have to be Apple big before you can register a patent on something squareish with round corners.
irelanstFree MemberWill be a sunny day
Not in the UK or an eternal optimist then?
I’m no expert, but from my dicking about you have a couple of basic options (1) use ambient light and a fast enough shutter to freeze the action or (2) use a flash (off camera if possible) on second curtain sync to freeze the action with a shutter speed to give an amount of motion blur (3) panning.
IMO it is much easier to convey a sense of dynamism if you get some blur in the shots, so I would either pan or use flash. Panning takes some practise; of course you can combine it with flash to give you a better chance of getting the rider sharp. The smaller the aperture you can use the more likely you have of getting something in focus, again totally IMO but you are better upping the ISO and having some noise than getting every shot out of focus.
If you’re in the trees then riders can be in and out of shade meaning the correct exposure will be hard to nail. I find manual easier, when you get it wrong it’s massively wrong, but on average I think I get more keepers.
Get the riders head sharp, fill the frame, take lots of shots.
irelanstFree MemberBut hey, people are like pistachios
I have to get in quickly before the wife finishes them all off?
irelanstFree MemberBeing “in the black”
What about the flip side, phrases which use white to be positive?
irelanstFree MemberThese guys do small quantities as well, I’ve used them before with no problems;
irelanstFree MemberI notice nothing is ever mentioned about the ethnicity of football hooligans, who are always almost exclusively white.
This line of argument falls down when you consider that there are football hooligans outside of the UK who aren’t “almost exclusively white”
irelanstFree MemberI’ve used these guys in the past;
Some of the larger trade only suppliers which won’t consider small orders can be a bit more friendly if you turn up on their doorstep with cold hard cash, speak to whoever is skulking around the back having a crafty fag!
