    A lot of those Actimel type products are high in sugar, which may offset any other health benefit they provide.

    We’ve also had good luck with our Beko.

    Which? reviews aren’t always that useful IME (often out of date, inaccurate, shallow, don’t always seem to be unbiased). YMMV.

    I can hear occasional flashes of their old brilliance in the album but none of the tracks really work overall. Bit of a shame really.

    I’d burn wood if you like the look of it. Use central heating otherwise.

    If you’re interested in efficiency and want to burn cleaner then make sure you get a stove thermometer so you can burn at the correct temperature. Too hot means all your heat is going up the chimney. Too cold means you’re releasing a lot of pollution and also tarring up your chimney. Make sure you burn well-seasoned (dry) wood, and use enough kindling to get up to the proper temperature quickly when starting it.

    As @chevychase said:

    …post your diet.  A typical couple of days diet.  Be honest.

    I feel like you might be going wrong here.

    Another thought: how many hours of sleep do you get? A lot of people don’t get enough.

    This podcast about sleep is quite interesting. Top athletes are getting 11-12 hours a night.

    You’re definitely getting the next version, iOS 12. And apparently it will make your phone feel faster.

    iOS 12 runs much faster, especially on older iPhones

    @zanelad

    Yes I do try to be considerate towards other people in general.

    Im happy to share the world with motorcycles. Not fitting an illegal/unnecessarily noisy exhaust to a road bike is hardly a great hardship IMO.

    Really hate that kind of selling. Don’t think I would’ve lasted that long. Next time say you’ve only got 15mins and insist on the quick version.

    She should have been penalised for acting badly and male players who act the same way should also be penalised for it. A big display of poor sportsmanship all round.

    I have a standard can, but only because i’d wake my wife/boy up when i left for work if i changed the can.

    Nice that you’re considerate towards your family. Shame you imply that everyone else you drive past is fair game for noise pollution.

    Noise from the exhaust mostly goes backwards. Which isn’t much help really.

    Safe driving saves lives. Loud pipes piss people off, as you can gather from this thread.

    I think there are some jurisdictions where it is always assumed to be the car driver that’s at fault in the first instance and maybe that’s not a bad thing

    Holland is like this. It’s probably no coincidence that it feels like a much safer place to be a pedestrian or cyclist.

    How can the motorcyclist heat anything with that noisy illegal exhaust (plus earplugs, helmet etc.)

    Better if everyone keeps the noise down and concentrates on safe driving.

    Perhaps there is something you can do to deal with the shite in your life rather than block it out with alcohol?

    One thing people often forget is that Mac’s have much better resale value. If you are the kind of person that takes care of things then you can often sell your Mac for a decent price when you next upgrade.

    I love the fact that John Thomson is actually a jazz fan and drummer in real life.

    Antisocial noise pollution. Loud motorcycle exhausts are a similar problem.

    No more risky than paying someone by cheque (also includes sort code, account number, name, signature etc).

    Pinnacle is an in-house brand from Evans so you may want to take their recommendation with a pinch of salt (haven’t got any experience with the brand myself though).

    When driverless cars get more established I expect insurance for human-driven Land Rovers will go though the roof because of the much higher risk (particularly for habitual speeding drivers).

    I suppose one marketing approach could be ‘buy one of these, and you can rough up the prime suspect on your way to work!

    Sex sells.

    Personally I’d love to have a self driving car, particularly if it can be cheaper, safer, more environmentally friendly etc. The likes of Google, Tesla, Toyota, BMW, Mercedes and Uber are already investing billions into it.

    Yes, it will take a while for Daily Mail readers and the mainstream car industry to catch up, but thats nothing new.

    @binners Yes, self-driving cars.

    If you think it’s all too sci-fi remember that the iPhone was only released 11 years ago, and now we all walk around with voice controlled computers in our pockets. Give it a generation and our current attitudes to cars will seem laughable.

    If most cars were self driving:-

    – You could watch TV, do some work or have some sleep on the way.

    – No need to worry about drink or drug driving. (your own or anyone else).

    – Traffic jams could be pretty much eradicated (cars could co-ordinate routes and speeds etc.). Road use could be much more efficient. Journey times could be more predictable.

    – The car could go off and park elsewhere and then return when you want to leave. Take this thought a step further and cities could free up space that’s currently wasted on parking and add extra housing, parks, etc.

    – The car could take itself off for a service or to refuel.

    – Fuel efficiency could be much better.

    – Crashes could be largely eradicated.

    – Car sharing could drastically reduce costs – think Uber but without drivers, and better availability. (Rich people could still have their own vehicles if they want.)

    – And perhaps most importantly, the Habitual Speeding Wife and her like would be a thing of the past.

    I’d try putting the SSD in. Might increase the resale value if you decide you don’t want it anymore too.

    We used a “man with a van”/small removal company to move to Holland. Didn’t cost as much as you might think and we didn’t need to worry about loading and unloading, returning the van etc.

    No headphones for takeoff and landing makes good sense for safety. Feel free to use them the rest of there time.

    Mythbusters tested this and concluded it was probably ok on modern aircraft.

    @jambourgie

    The Genelec guide above gives the basics – looks like you’re doing OK. Slightly off-centre might work better for the sub. Changing the listener and speaker positions by a matter of inches can make big improvements. Ideally you’d use a measurement mic and software to test different locations and find the best compromise (e.g. UMIK-1 and REW or Fuzzmeasure – doesn’t have to be too expensive). Acoustic treatment is one of the best upgrades for most studios in my experience.

    @catfood

    You could try angling the speakers up so that the tweeter points towards your ears. Sorbothane is better for reducing vibration – its also used for this in industrial applications (factories etc). Probably under £20.
