Safety, just don’t do anything stupid.
As for learning to turn, just get a lathe and go for it. I got my first
lathe and within a few hours I had made some threaded parts for my chop.
    Here’s my first lathe:

It looked tidier in the scrap yard I got it from;-)

New secondhand, who cares, as long as I can run it.
It’s on a 1985 Matsuura milling machine. No gears the spindle ran
from 0-8,000 rpm on an inverter[an inverter the size of a fridge], but I stripped the original[all working] electronics and binned it all as the machine was so big I couldn’t squeeze it in my garage. I haven’t yet refitted the electronics, I have done part of it and may well finish it this year.

    What makes me qualified?

    I design the things… design the inverters… got a PhD…

But obviously I am talking gibberish.

I don’t suppose you have anything lying around that would get my spindle motor running?

Just need to spot some white dog poo now for a full house.

You don’t see blokes with big growths on their necks any more?

There are loads of them in Surrey. In the 60’s we used to see the “Betchworth Parrots”, you would see a load of them sitting on the telephone wires near Betchworth house, with other birds. Now it’s
not uncommon to see them in my garden.

I bought secondhand records in the 70’s from a place in Portmadog, I was always happy with them.

    Not sure I undertsand.
You mean the line curves the wrong way?
click on the node or anchor points, whatever you call them, and you should see little handles pull them to get the line to curve the way you want.
My experience is just drawing bike transfers, so I may have it completely wrong;-)

I need a pair of speakers. I got rid of my Tannoys a few years ago, took up a bit to much space[so I am told]. I now find myself speakerless, and playing through the computer is pretty dire.

Su 35, which seems to be able to carry off manoeuvres that defy all logic, like the Cobra, or rotating completely around its own CofG while still going forwards.

I haven’t been to a display since the 60’s. But I did see a sukoi 37 display from a distance in the 90’s, it didn’t look possible.

I read the lezyne was best. But all the ones I bid on on ebay went for to much. I wasn’t willing to spend a lot. I bought a topeak rocket race master blaster.
Fit’s in my pocket, lives in my pocket I should say.
Bigger would be better for pumping tyres up, but I wouldn’t be able to keep it with me then.
Screw on fitting, all the push on ones I have had have been crap, some have only pumped a couple of tyres up before the rubber had died.
    Does Presta and schrader.

If I lost it I would get another and probably be prepared to pay full price. I have had it 5 years this year and it’s not showing any signs of letting me down.

want a phone that just lets you call or text, nothing else at all. are these available?

    I have a Samsung 1190.
I gather they were cheap phones from Tescos. Battery lasts around a month and they don’t have a camera or any other useless[to me] stuff.

    Up for a STW ride!

The t-shirts, er, shall we say stalled a little Sales tappered off somewhat. Actually I lie; they bombed!
    Screen printing?

I bought screens from ebay in 2003; the screens are still in the boxes they came in! I bought some bulbs to make an exposure unit a few months ago, at this rate I will print a T shirt in about 50 years;-)

I am in Leigh, I ride every other dry afternoon, usually over to leith hill but do ride merstham-reigate hill-boxhill sometimes, not done so for about a year so I guess I should do this week.
Never ridden with anyone else though.

I have a mate, I say mate, I hadn’t seen him for 20 years, who seems to love the place. Last time I saw him he was off with his wife to Vegas for two weeks. I gather they go twice a year. They sit by a pool drinking all day and spend all night in casinos drinking and playing Blackjack.

Drive side probably never. Non drive side whenever I change a mech cable or have to adjust mechs.
The pedals don’t clear the rack behind the stand, so I have to take one off to turn the cranks; I could move the stand out but it’s no trouble to
    remove a pedal.
When I fit pedals I put a dab of Duralac on the threads, and they undo OK.

I always wanted to dig in the field next to me, there is a pipeline squirting paraffin from Heathrow to Gatwick.

I worked for two months as a solderer in a factory when I was 17.
I was the only bloke in a room with about 30 women. There were hot women
of all ages. I had a great time there, the work was shit and the pay was
abysmal;-) It was like being let loose in a sweetie shop, anything that
happened at work stayed at work.

My neighbor won the classic one year, so I am told.
I went in 1972, met a girl in the showers on the campsite and I am still friends with her! I can’t remember much about it really, meeting Claire and waking with a dead badger on my tongue are my most vivid memories!
Nearly forgot we did see Graham Hill.
I will go again one day.

    I don’t like 2+2s to start with.
And I like them better looking as though they have been driven but in good nick.
I went out with a girl who learned to drive in a her mums V12, her dad
wasn’t having her drive his roller;-) It didn’t seem at all special
driving round in a rag top e type.

I saw them a lot between 1973 and 1976. Watchfield was one of the best gigs, so my mate tells me, red brick microdots were good and I have very little memory of the week;-)
When You was released we saw them in Guildford, they were great and after the gig we thumbed a lift back to Dorking, a squaddie in a MKII jag picked us up, he had YOU playing on his tape player!
Last time I saw them was when Shamal was released, saw them in the Hamersmith Odeon, they had changed.
We saw Daevid Allen a couple of times in the Mountain Grill after that.

I have Cabembert Electrique and the teapot three on my MP3 player and listen to them in my garage regularly.

Bread and Butter pudding is magical.
    Tapioca is disgusting.
    Semolina on the other hand…

Bread and butter, known as favorite pudding in our house.

Tapioca, can’t remember my mum ever cooking it[guess she didn’t like it].
My nan used to make it, we called it frogspawn and she called it wall paper paste. We would all say “ych y fi” and next time we went there
she would cook the foul stuff again!

    Suet pudding, mmmmmmmm.
    Apple pie, lovely stuff.
    Blackberry pie, ditto.
    Dutch Apple cake, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
Buterscotch trifle, my mum used to make buterscotch trifle, not had it since the mid 60’s, I always ate it until I felt like puking.

I am going to have to go and see what’s in the fridge..
