I’d go for a lab over a viszla. On the whole less nervy and highly strung. If a big requirement was a dog to go biking with then I’d choose the viszla.

+1 for the skipping breakfast. For me its definitely the least important meal of the day.

Newfoundland – mine – probably the most impractical dog but very entertaining.

I was a bit gutted when my daughter came out and she couldn’t walk or talk. Then after a month or so she stated smiling so I forgave her.

Merino – the best thing that’s happened to mountain huts. No longer have to put up with the godforsaken stench of worn polyester when ski touring.

Had a couple of weeks skiing when younger then started boarding for several years. Now gone back to skiing / ski touring and backcountry type stuff. More versatile than boarding – its nice to be able to enjoy moguls etc.. My partner is Austrian – she went to boarding in her teens having skied since v.young. She’s now back skiing as are the majority of her schoolmates.

breatheasy – can I ask who you are using for the sliding wall and whether you are using bifolds or sliders. Interested as could be wanting 6 metres of similar soon.

    Cheers

They’re OK to buy from as they price match and have pretty good stock in store. Wouldn’t have my bike serviced there though.

Take the overly optimistic xc weather then check the pessimistic beeb and take the midway point. XC is good for wind though.

    A cranial sacral person?

You live in Didsbury and I claim my five pounds…

Its like cranial osteopathy and they sort out the baby after being squeezed down a tight tube.

30 quid well spent to my personal harley street osteo specialist – here have a fiver anyway.

Mine is a couple of weeks old now. She sleeps pretty well, had one night of dusk to dawn screaming which was when she was 3 days old. Took her to a cranial sacral person who just seemed to hold the baby. Worked wonders and she is much happier since. (my brother did the same with his).

I’ve a colleague who is interested in getting a wolfhound as a rescue. I think though, at 8 years old and with a life expectancy of 7 for the breed, a rehome may be difficult. (personally I wouldn’t rehome the dog I’d keep hold of her – squirrelking / robdixon on the right track ).

Had a 2007 525d touring. Was great until it started going wrong. To diagnose the fault they just stick in the laptop and after replacing the exhaust / DPF unnecessarily the next thing up the chain was the turbo. At that point I flogged it on ebay at a large loss for 1 years worth of hassle full motoring.

But like I say when it worked it was great.

Good thread. I’m off somewhere tomorrow where I know my old head will be. Ruled the school under a culture of fear. I never got whacked but remember seeing boys who got a ‘six of the best’ with a plimsol. Not a pleasant sight. A horrible horrible man who ended up doing time in the nonce section in dartmoor for abuse. Want to say to him ‘I won’t hit a defenceless old man – shame you didn’t take the same approach to defenceless children you total ***ing ***ker’.

Nevertheless, given a choice between this or call centre work in S Wales with that **** Nev, I’d be behind my little Amazon trolley in an instant

I know someone who used to work for Amazon – I also know someone who works in the ‘Call Centre’ albeit in HR. The one at the call centre enjoys her job and says the boss is a real character and there is a good atmosphere at work. The one at Amazon said the opposite.

Egg beaters snapped at the axle whilst out of the saddle – quite a nasty fall resulted. This was after years of persevering with crap cleats and useless pedals (candy’s and smarty’s).

Will not go near crank brothers again. Also find my new shimano pedals easier to clip in.

If the quality of trails is going to be anywhere near as good as the fantastic video series they’ve produced then its going to be great.

This is the reason why I will never buy a lezyne mini pump again (don’t find the screwing the hose onto valve an improvement anyway).

Expect to be knackered all the time while training for it. I did Swiss a few years ago. May do another at some point (prob Austria) – but not something I’d want to do every year.

I have a rear wheel – use them for commuting. Broken 3 spokes and needed to true them (bought from merlin) – I’m 100kg but was disappointed with this – never had a fulcrum 7 spoke brake.

Open pro rim breaking surface wore out within 18 months. Rim gave way – new continental tyre exploded taking some of the rim with it. Just had a new wheel built up with the hub so hoping for more luck this time.

New update makes the app really worth having – it was pretty pointless without being able to browse the photos / video on the camera. Only prob is you can’t playback the higer res vids on the iphone (that’s an iphone issue though I think).

For those who sweat unnecessarily large amounts then wearing gloves is a good idea. My hands slip otherwise.

If I’m sat at some lights in my car and I see an experienced cyclist jump that red by setting off before the light goes green or goes when it is perfectly safe to do so then I congratulate them – especially if there is a pinch point further on.

Its made my life easier from the lights as a car driver to avoid the cyclist and helps with traffic flow.

Kite surf and surf here. A great surf session wins hands down to a great kitesurf session.

Its just a great surf session is rarer than a good kitesurf session.

By a great surf session I mean a decent reef with just a couple of mates out – doesn’t happen many times a year…..

Don’t worry I spent over 2 grand having various bits and bobs removed from a bmw. Turns out it was probably the turbo which was gone (even after having un dpf’d and decatted, new exhaust etc etc). I sold the car to an enthusiast who could be arsed to keep going through a long line of incorrectly diagnosed problems…

    Thanks for the replies:

Z1ppy – there is no pressure in the post after removal of the pump. I can check the valve core. I take it I just need some needle nosed pliers to check and screw up if necessary.

Apparently Nev is exactly like this – not put on for the cameras at all. By all accounts he is very popular with his workforce.

No wonder so many cuss the trail centre in favour of natural trails if you ride on footpaths as well.

Been there a couple of times with gf mtb’ing the most recent being last summer.

Some good trails – fave is probably

    http://www.worldbikeparks.com/park/trails/saalbach-hinterglemm/hacklberg-trail

Many of the trails are quite technical when compared with uk trail centre but still doable on a 120mm. Gf manages many of the trails fine on a 120mm full suspension.

Generally pretty quiet and no queues for the uplift when we’ve been.

The usual very good austrian hospitality applies.
