We use this with our classic mini’s. Excellent stuff. No valve seat recession.

Redex stuff is just sh!t to be honest. In my opinion it’s the motoring equivalent of snake oil.

Liked Chris Harris before he was on Top Gear. The other two are just woeful really. Haven’t managed a full episode since Clarkson and co left. The Grand Tour was always a compromise. No Stig, no Star in a car etc. The best Top Gear ever was the 24hr race in the BMW 330D. Happy Days.

There is quite a difference between tyres suitable for mud ie large gaps between the tread blocks to allow the tyre to clear itself and for snow, sipes to grip the snow and ice. You will struggle to find a tyre that will do both effectively.

Wipe the excess crud off with a rag with a bit of WD40/GT85 on. Then a bit of finish line red. It seems to last longer with less stretch than it did when I used a Park chain cleaner. The links in my opinion like having a bit of oil impregnated dirt as a lubrication aid. Keeps the bushings tight.

The later 105bhp 1.9 tdi’s had a habit of throwing a con rod through the side of the block every now and again for no reason. May have something to do with the oil pump drive shaft stripping the hex on the end of the shaft. Earlier higher powered engines didn’t have this problem.

1.8 Petrol Avensis Estate either auto or manual. Auto is CVT box with no DMF issues.
An incredibly reliable capable but dull to drive Estate. Mazda 6 2.0 petrol if you want a bit more driver involvement.

I was pretty shocked by this news then saddened that a young person felt the only way out of this mess was to take their own life. Maybe I’m a bit old fashioned about things but why did the boyfriend feel the need to go and report this to the police knowing full well that it would open a massive can of worms. Why not just Man up and walk away.

That’s because the power base in Labour isn’t interested in winning the election or being in power. It’s more about forcing its socialist doctrine on the party. Reshaping Labour into what it deems appropriate. Well guess what the electorate is not buying it. I’d push the Houses of Parliament into the Thames and move them all to a factory unit in Doncaster and lock them in until they sort their $h!t out.

Tja Labour lost Scotland a long time ago. The Scots twigged a lot sooner that Labour had taken their votes for granted a lot earlier than the electorate in the so called northern heartlands. Maybe Nandy realises that a lot of the voters in the northern English seats that were lost don’t give a monkeys about Scotland.
They no longer care about what happens North of the border they want to see investment and change where they are now.
It’s how you react to defeat that matters. I haven’t seen many Labour politicians up here (North East) since the election, on the other hand Boris and his cohorts can’t seem to keep away.

Nandy may be a lot of things but thick she is not. She realises Scotland is a lost cause for Labour. Rayner on the other hand is thick as mince. That’s ok if your on the back benches but she’ll be ripped to bits as deputy. Starmer will only be keeping Nandy’s seat warm until the next election. I don’t see any real change happening until Labour have lost the next election. It could be 10 yrs before we see an effective opposition and it might not even be Labour.

Timing chain tensioners on these are prone to early failure due to BMW long service intervals. Post 2011 cars are supposed to have better tensioners fitted. Other than that pretty good cars that still look good by today’s standard.

One of the upsides of having a dog I guess is that I will be unable to frequent these type of places and I’ll have to use a tent or rent a cottage. Damn they allow dogs!

I would go to the Doctors and get your blood sugar checked. Excessive water consumption, mood swings, not sleeping, ravenously hungry.
    Go to the GP.

We’ve just gone through the same thing. Mrs Inbred is changing jobs and needs an automatic. Test drive a few Kia’s and Hyundai’s. Quality is okay but the drive was horrible. Steering felt Woolley and the suspension was horrible. They are no longer cheap either. Ended up with an X1. Knocked everything into a cocked hat to be honest.

Our company secretary has them. As has been said they can climb any fence, they dig for victory/escape etc. They are never let off the lead never. They can disappear for days then come back as if nothing is the matter. They need a shit load of exercise. Tendency for diabetes in older dogs I believe. You would have to be mad to have one never mind two for a first time pet.

Cook it then wrap it in foil. Slice and serve when needed using gravy etc to heat it up. I wouldn’t slice it until it’s ready to serve. Turkey can dry out faster than a Camels Sandel.

Johnstell we have seen heroics from some of the firefighters on the news over here in Blighty. It looks really bad. Curious as to what the people think of the response by the government over there. Hope you get some rain soon.

You can get a test kit that fixes on the header tank that changes colour if it picks up any combustion gases in the water. That will at least tell you if the head gasket has gone.

All DSG gearboxes regardless of what VAG say need the oil changing approx 4yrs/30K. Any good transmission specialist can do this. The DQ200 box used in a lot of 1.2 Tsi’s can’t in my opinion cope with the torque produced by this engine and the weight of the larger models. Fresh oil should help at least enough so you can trade it in. If I was looking for a replacement for the Yeti I would have a Suzuki Vitara 1.0T or the 1.4T Boosterjet in a heart beat.

These are both really working breeds that are designed to hunt, flush and run all day. We had a working lab, 2-3 walks a day but never really happy unless walking playing or eating. Never had a Springer and from what I’ve been told wouldn’t have one unless I could work it. Plenty of dogs in rescue centres that would love to be rehomed. Could I suggest a Greyhound. We have rehomed one in the past. Brilliant dog. Will take as much or as little exercise as you can give. Very chilled animals and just grateful for a very large 3 piece to lounge on.

I’m about to pick up a second hand Boss Katana 100 Mk1 for my son for Crimbo. £200 quid. I prefer the Mk1 because you can tilt it up like a monitor. Don’t really need all the extra stuff on the Mk2. Cracking practice amps.

Just put some Vredestein Quatrac 5’s on the other half’s Mini, only 175-65-15’s. They are skinny compared to today’s trend for wide low profile tyres so should grip well hopefully even though they aren’t full winters. They are asymmetric as well so perform really well in the wet and cold. Pleased so far, we’ll see how they do if we get any white stuff.

Swift Sport 1.6 or Mini Cooper for driving pleasure, character. Most mini’s can look very good for their age so check service history. Jazz is one of the dullest cars I’ve driven. Vag group 1.2 Tsi very capable and easy to drive. Had a Fabia for 3yrs. 4.5K might be stretching it a bit though for a good one. Choose on condition and service history not necessarily mileage.

The early 6sp wet clutch DQ250 DSG boxes were fine. Torque rating of 350Nm’s. Service interval of 40K. Fitted to 2.0L petrol and diesels.

I’ve got the Seat Leon ST FR 184. Same engine as GTD. Golf is slightly bigger in the back due to a squared off rear end. Leon is more sloped. DSG in the 2.0 TDI’s are fine. Early ones were 6 speed wet clutch, later ones are 7 speed wet clutch. All need servicing at 30-40K. The 7 speed dry clutch DQ200 as used in all the lower torque petrols (1.0, 1.2, 1.4, 1.8) and 1.6 diesels are weak. The 1.5 petrol now has the DQ381 as fitted to 2.0 Tsi’s. I have all the specs somewhere. Our old Fabia 1.2 Tsi had the DQ200. It was never right from day one. Great car and engine but clutch was like a switch on or off.

Alnwick was voted one of the best places to live in the UK a while ago. Rural but big enough to have a good selection of shops and a rail station. Darras Hall if money is no object. Jesmond and parts of Gosforth are OK if maybe a bit pricey due to their closeness to the City centre. I would go West and look in the Tyne Valley area.

Park on the verge by the Burn outside the main entrance. Plenty room for several cars off-road. Then ride in by the footpath into the main car park.

Copper grease is just to stop the wheel bonding to the disc flange not for the wheel studs.
