I go on the premise that my wife gets her hair cut at least once a month, at about 50 notes on average, more sometimes if it has to have a colour. As I am losing mine faster than its growing and now only get charged for a kids cut with my son, say 7 quid! That's 43 pound a month to spend on bike gear in my dreams!

A mate of mine gave me some great advice about buying stuff for my bike. He used to race all over the country. Buy the best frame you can with great geometry to suit your riding style, don't worry to much about the kit. He would only buy deore stuff and change it when it was goosed. Meaning he always had spare gear to put on the bike and it didn't cost the earth. He also would ride like the bike wasn't his, because bits were cheap if you know what I mean. I think you get more out of your bike if your fitter than if it has a 200g carbon crankset at 400 notes.

Try the lemon SIS with extra salts and minerals in. Sounds like De-Hydration to me. This worked for me, also reduced the chance of cramp in the old calf's after a long ride.

I have been told that an early 5 cylinder 2.5 TDI A6 are the ones to go for. Sweet engine very smooth and no dual mass flywheel to worry about. Hard to find though. I have a 1.9 Golf TDI estate, can't fault it yet 140k on it when I bought it. Av 45mpg real world figures! Will be selling it soon to get a golf or passat with aircon(for the other half in the summer.)

Lost our 10yr old Choc Lab last September. Going to the Dogs Home on Friday to have a look and see who takes a fancy to us! Pics will follow if we are successful.

Our 1.8 lx estate petrol is starting to cost us a bit of dosh but it has done 85000mls. Things that have consistently gone wrong are few. Rear wheel bearings and warped discs are the main culprits. Water pump failure at 40000mls. The rest is just servicing so not bad overall. It has the best handling and feel of any car I've driven including so called hot hatches. If I could find a 170ST estate I would have one tomorrow. Diesels are great providing nothing goes wrong with the Dual Mass Flywheels and injector pump! Any savings the diesel gives you will be wiped out by a huge bill if these go wrong.

The new mini does use an engine partly developed with Puggyeot. The Cooper S uses a 1.6 twin scroll turbo engine as used in the new Pug GTI. Why would BMW develop a new 1.6 engine for just one model ie mini when most of there engines are large capacity inline motors rear wheel drive. I believe the bollocks are on you.

Graham Norton standing in front of Russel Brand, I'd hit that TW*T so hard I'd get too for the price of one. Everyone's a winner!

Our 10yr old choc lab saved us the trouble by dying on us after she collapsed and was operated on, tumour on the spleen, lost to much blood internally. We waited to long with our previous dog 12yr old deerhound cross lurcher. We just couldn't bring ourselves to do it. Won't make that mistake again. Scattered her ashes on one of our favourite walks which coincides with a great ride over Blanchland Moor. Never have a problem getting away for a ride if I tell the wife I'm off to see Holly Dog!

Stock pile brake discs and pads cos it will eat them. Apart from the extra consumption they are great, especially on long motorway trips. I had an old Honda Accord estate 2.2 auto, loved it. Must have a big engine!

Apparently it is now cheaper to get a comparable new Golf than a new Ford Focus! The Golf is also more expensive than a similarly specced A3 ie by the time you have added everything to the Golf that the A3 already has its more expensive. What are the manufacturers up to? Ford have upped their prices several times for the same model over the last 18 months.

    So much for the Recession!

Just a thought, does he play any sports or go to any coaching lessons. Our wee one goes to tennis twice a week so we asked his grandparents to get him a private lesson with the coach one on one. He loved it and it improved his game so much and the plus side is we don't have any useless sh!t hanging around the house. The only problem is once they do the lessons!'#;$ Boy are they expensive 8O

113 on my 456 works fine, but it does have the little dent in the side.
FWIW I've only had chainsuck probs since i've used ally chainrings! Never had a problem with steel ones. Swopped the middle for a deore LX ally one and its happened a couple of times. Wonder if the softer material is holding the chain when it gets a bit of sh!t on it?

I used a waxoil aerosol. Warm up the frame with a hairdryer, apply waxoil, then warm again till the waxoil gets runny and just tip the frame up till the waxoil runs out / into any dead ends etc. Leave to cool then build up! Don't use to much. No rust after 2yrs.

I wonder what odds you'd get for Schumacher to win the world championship in a Mercedes Car ran by his old mate Brawn.! You read it here first Schumacher joins Mercedes.

A car dealer mate has told me that people have been selling their 2.0's and going back to the 1.9 TDI's because of reliability issues with the new engines. If it has a warranty then check your covered for fuel pump's and injectors etc. If not the older 1.9's are bullet proof, tried and tested over the last 12 years. The last of the Passat's called the highline were loaded with gear. The 130 TDI makes a great load lugger. Regularly see them being sold with 200K on them. That's going to be my next motor if I can find one!

Again 6ft 4" and ride a 20" 456 70mm stem with fleegle bars and a 25mm layback post. Fits well but I think I'll go for a 29er next time as the geometry is meant to suit taller people. Big wheels = more comfort!

A thou on the diameter is better, just out of curiosity how much did it cost? Are the tools 1/2" diameter?

Good luck with the boring bar set, one division is one thou on the radius, that is 0.05mm on the diameter. You'll struggle to get a bearing fit with one of those! That's providing the quill is not worn.

My wife has a focus estate, no probs yet. My brother in law has a mondeo and water leaks in through the rear door. Its a well known problem. There is a panel inside the door that moves and the water coming in past the seals on the glass runs down and comes in by the inside trim panel. The rear well then fills up and it eventually runs into the front. The rear doors have to be striped and the panel put back in place. Its a real fiddle but its the only way to sort it.

If biking is a big part of your life and the break ins are stressful it might be easier just to move to a better area in the long run or turn into a radge packet catch the bastards at it and provide your veg patch with some fertilizer.
I have known friends that have put up with this sh!t for years then they move and what do you know there standard of life goes through the roof and they wonder why they didn't do it years ago.

Just got a 140k golf TDI estate on a Y with full service history for 2k. Its got the bog 90bhp engine. Plenty fast enough. Would have liked a Passat but couldn't find one for that sort of money. Major engine wear if the proper spec VAG oil hasn't been used with the PumpDeuse engine. 45mpg round the doors no matter how its driven, more on a run. Mechanic mate tells me its a lot more reliable than the TDCi fords.
If you can find a good one go for it!

Just had to take the bumper off to change the side light bulbs!

Fenix L2T V2.0 CREE Q2.(with the textured reflector) 2.5 hrs at 150 lumens. Went with the lower power of the L2T for a slightly longer runtime. Works well with the twofish lock block. 40 quid all in. Some people say that if they run on full power all the time it dulls the emitter. Can't say I've noticed any change. Must use good quality AA's 2850's if poss.

When the 8 speed cassette wears out I'll change, not because its better to have a 9 speed cassette, but because its easier to get hold of 9 speed chains and cassettes. I suppose spares availability is better for the later stuff.

How do the juicy 5's compare to the cable disc's?

These were quick. The CS was the hatchback, 154mph back in 1992. There are still good ones about if you look hard enough. For bang per buck not much will touch one of these.

    http://www.classicandperformancecar.com/front_website/octane_interact/carspecs.php/?see=3287

Official top speed of the Lancia Delta HF Int was only 129mph. The S4 was only a 3 door.

What run times are you guys getting with the tesco torch. Do you use 2x 2500mAh rechargeables? My fenix should get 2.4 hrs at 150 lumens max output. I have a tesco torch and wondered how it would compare.

Pately Bridge is a fine route about 24 miles with a a bit of everything in there. The North York moors is also worth a look, it has some of the best single track riding I've ever seen, miles and miles of moorland tracks.
