Me and the wife RAC home start,R and R for 100 quid. Just kick up a fuss and say your going elsewhere and see the quote plummet.

No! 100mm at least I would say, but if you're a really light rider then you could take a chance, what does manufacturer say, be guided by them.

6ft 4" and ride a 20" inbred fits fine. Next bike will be a 29er when funds allow, probably a scandal if they still make em then.

I think he should of spent more time being a father to his ignorant useless daughter, so we don't have to read about her in the paper every week. Peaches FFS!

I wonder what would happen if I was walking my leopard and it tore your leg off as you went past? Technically cats are classed as wild animals and you don't actually own them, they just choose to live with you until a better owner/offer comes along. Who would be liable?

Lighten up chaps, weather is getting better, trails are drying out, it's all good!

Don't bother buying a kit for a one off, take it to a good local engineering shop and they should do it for you for a small cash in hand donation or a couple of bottles of beer. Helicoils need a certain depth to work properly, they should be able to advise on best course of action.

Oil filter seal leaking, seen these work loose. Sump cracked or corroded through if its steel/gasket leaking. If its coming from the clutch cover end could be crankshaft oil seal. If its a lot of oil its likely to be a gasket/seal, none of the other faults tend to drop a lot of oil quickly. Does it have a oil cooler? Pipes to and from engine could of worn through.

I love Landy's, have spent years racing and competing in trials and off road competitions. We put Nissan Patrol running gear on them for strength and reliability. They are rubbish really but we love them, would never use one every day on the road, crap mpg, crap driving position and crap reliability, disco's are worse still. On the other side easy to fix and repair which is just as well, most of the back taken up with tools and spare parts. Great fun for an occasional blast on a weekend though.

Tried lots of tyres, quite like maxxis larsen TT for summer and stick 2.3 Conti Vert Pro's back on for winter months. Nevegals grip well, to well for me and wear really quickly. Fastest tyres I've ever used are the ones off my wife's hybrid Raleigh, semi slicks, no grip but boy do they fly!

Anybody tried Maxxis Aspens yet? The 2.25 seems like it could be a good all rounder.

I have only ever got chainsuck on my on-one when I have gone from cheap steel rings to alloy ones. I am now back to using deore steel rings (middle and granny) no probs. Its not the frame causing chainsuck, its just easier to damage the older frames when it happens because of the seatstays!

The difference between us and our foreign neighbours ( mainly France and Germany) is that they would not allow their main Industries to become foreign owned, and then ultimately shutdown! Surely it is irresponsible to allow this. If they have to be state funded then so be it. I'd rather my taxes were spent on this than Government non jobs. 65 to 70% of all jobs created during this recession are Government sponsored non jobs due to end in 6 months time ( oh just after the election!)

The Police only got the Auto V70 T5's because the manuals ate front tyres and it was costing each force a fortune in replacements. What you lost in economy you more than made up for in servicing costs. I always liked the 850 T5R rare as hell with 250bhp in the yellow creamy colour with the mat black alloys. Hhhhhhmmmmmmm!

Accord type R only available as a saloon but still a great car. Apparently according to Honest John they have never had an engine failure on a VTEC engine on any model.

Conti's width include the side knobs where as kenda's width is to the edge of the side walls. My 2.3 verti's are narrower but higher ie bigger rolling diameter. My 2.1 nevegals are wider but shallower ie smaller rolling diameter. Prefer the conti vert's to the nevegals especially with the protection side walls. Good all round tyre.
Found the nevegals a bit draggy, good grip but even the DTC seemed a bit slow/ hard work. Probably needs a faster fitter rider than me, to get the most out it!

What about a Honda civic 2.0 Type R the early version. Small hatch, handles well 198BHP. Bullet proof Honda reliability. Engine's only really run in at 80,000miles. Take the badges off and get 1.6 sport stickers and away you go off to do some corsa chav baiting!

Go for a old shape Focus 170ST Estate. This will out handle and outgun most cars and still be practical and above all carry plenty of bikes on the roof! They are quite rare and a lot cheaper to run than say a scooby estate.

This is what you need, its a slide puller or hammer, drill through the seat post and attatch bar, and then use the hammer to shock the post out. This set has internal and external jaws for gripping bearings etc so they may grip the post. The post turns so it isn't seized it sounds like its stuck on a lip or ridge. You can also hire these from tool centres.

These will pull a hub of a car they should pull the post out of the seat tube!

There will still be loads of waxoil in the frame that will pee out when it gets hot in the summer if we have one! Heat the frame with a hair dryer and get it really hot , you only need a very thin coating inside to stop rust etc. All the excess will come out and you can localise the heat were you need it and really make it run into those seat stays and BB area's.

Don't leave it flat, take it off and get some charge into it. If it's left flat it can cause damage to the cells that is irreversible. I'd take it back and say its knackered and start again with a new one. It may not reach full charge capacity now its been left flat for so long. It could of been duff to begin with.

Those white rims look good with that fork, what fork you running? I've got a 120mm MX PRO with ETA and TAS works really well and I think the longer crown to axle length suits the geom of the frame and it was cheap! Going to have to get some experience building my own wheels, what jig do you use? Don't you wish they had put some fixings for a pump / bottle on the seat tube. I'm never going to put my seat that low down that it would catch. That is the only thing I would change on that frame.

Just seen a set of XM719's with XT 6 bolt hubs for 140 notes from Merlin. Can't complain at that price.

Think I'll put the 717's on my old giant hardtail with some slicks and turn it into a tarmac tourer for when the weather gets crappy and the trails cut up.

    Cheers chaps!

Will check out the Funn rims at CRC. I'm 6ft 4 so I'm no light weight, so I'm willing to go for a tougher rim even if its a bit heavier. I've always been very careful with the 717's and probably babied them a bit. They are very light though!

My deerhound/lurcher used to love to roll in fox sh!t. That is ten times smellier than dog sh!t cos they eat anything! I'd give anything to have him back no matter how bad he smelt. Dogs don't you just luv em!

I don't work in an IT environment, I work for a small engineering company with no HR dept. If you don't pull your weight your sacked, not out of malice but because the company is not in a position to carry anybody. If anybody called me an ignorant cu#t for any reason even the MD I'd tear his #ucking head off. It's time for some people on here to MTFU!

Just found out that RBS 80% owned by the UK taxpayer has put up the majority of the funds needed by Kraft to buy Cadbury about 8 billion. We have effectively paid for the takeover of one of our Iconic brands. Only in the UK.

I'm a dog lover, if I was on a red or black trail and happened upon a rider with their dog and the dog caused me to come off because it was wandering all over the place, I would be pretty pi$$ed with you not the dog! Don't see a problem with bridleways where visibility is better but a trail centre. I guess its just a matter of common sense.

I don't think showing a dog you are scared of it, is a defence for it biting you or going for you. If its aggressive it should be on a lead or better still at the vets.

The Pass mark for this year was reduced by 8% for a grade C to 42% otherwise the pass figures would of been dire, so bad in fact they didn't even consider leaving the pass mark at 50%.

23% is the pass rate for a GCSE maths paper these days. Our kids are doomed! How are the Universities going to tell who to pick when all the kids have A*****+++++++(super-dooper to the power of 100) grades! In a global market place I fear our kids will be laughed out of the interview room.

I think the last of the old shape Passat's with the 130 bhp 1.9 AFN engine with the Highline Spec represent good value for money. These were highly loaded models to get rid of the old stock of 1.9's because the 2.0 TDI's had come out. Full of kit at a good price. The 1.9's are probably still more popular than the 2.0's, such a good engine.

My wife is the same, if I spent 20k on a top spec skoda she still wouldn't want it, and all the girls at her work feel the same.
Her parents, years ago bought a skoda and it's scarred her for life.

These outdated stigma's really last it seems. I have seen lots of great Octavia estates but she just isn't interested.

If anybody from Skoda UK want's to lend me A Skoda Estate so I can try and change her mind I'd be willing to do a full long term test to see if she will change her mind.

The golf estate uses the same floor pan as the A4 estate and the passat uses the same one as the A6 albeit the A4 engine is in line where the golf is transverse.
