Your right handed so you spend your life doing the intricate dextrous tasks with your right hand and carry and hold with your left while doing this. You may of thought your right side was stronger but this is rarely the case. My left is inherently stronger than my right. When I used to weight train in my early twenties my left side always developed quicker than my right. Simples I think.

Ignore 90% of the utter twaddle spoken here. Firstly keep the child and dog separate until you have a chance to talk to a dog behavior expert. Get to the Vet and get something to calm the dog over the next few days. Borrow a cage if you can and put dog in it with a cover leaving a small area so the dog can see out. It will feel more secure this way. Leave a radio on not to loud to try and disguise the bangs etc. Stay with the dog if you can and don’t react to the fireworks. Speak to your son and wife and get their feelings about the dog and what they think about the attack. You maybe flogging a dead horse with this one but they may give the dog a chance once you have all spoken with a dog behavior expert. We have had many dogs, several rescue dogs including a greyhound and all of them have had some baggage of some sort. We had a Lab that removed a kitchen in about an hour. Turned out she was trying to protect us from the de humidifier when it beeped to say it needed emptying. Best 70 quid I spent on dog behavior expert.
    Good Luck.

I think the oil less ones are now more efficient. We used a small one with a stat built in. It came on when the room cooled down at night and just kept a nice temperature.

Will keep my eyes open around County Durham. Just a quick note, I have been followed back from Chopwell and Hamsterly and Dalby by cars obviously wanting to know where I live. Mainly when I’ve had mates expensive bikes on the racks. Never leave bike racks on the car, that is like saying my bikes are in the garage ready and waiting.

B A Nana I felt exactly the same. It just ticks all the boxes. I was toying with a Mercedes c class estate diesel auto. Mercs make great auto’s, and with the torque of the 220 I think it would be an interesting drive, something a bit different. Have you ever driven a good auto, they are so relaxing and no dual mass flywheel!

Got a 04 mondy 130 estate with 95k on it. Great car no dpf filter no cam belt. Fords own diesel engine. The later 2.0 tdci’s 05 onwards are euro 4 compliant. They are Peugeot Citroen units with a dpf and belt driven camshaft
Great tourer handles well for a big barge, great cruiser and good economy. My mates Passat has been nothing but trouble. The mondeo will leave a passat standing, but the passat has a very nice interior. My next car will probably be a focus estate the new one, they look fantastic but to many pennies at the moment. Incidently the Germans own reliabilty studies TUV tests have shown that Fords perform a lot better in the reliability stakes than VW/Audi. That badge has a strong hold over people, very clever marketing.

Crashed in Kildale 10wks ago. Cane creek logo from the bars imprinted like a tattoo on my ribs. Rode the bike back to the car just! Following wk pain gets worse, sleeping is a nightmare. Was told 4 to 6wks if they are cracked, 6 to 8wks if broken. I broke two, taken 6 to 8 to get on a bike comfortably again. Lesson always when fitting new SPD’s remember to set the tension to what your old pedals were set at! Little bit of advice don’t take to many painkillers cos you need to know when you’re overdoing it, you’ll heal faster although I am not a Doctor! Fit a length of rope to the ceiling so you can get out of bed, getting out of bed is the worst, hardest most painful thing with broken ribs.

Email updated and now hopefully working. Don’t know yet which turbo version it is ie LPT 158bhp 185bhp or 200bhp! Doesn’t say on the log book. I will probably need the engine no off the log book, will find out on Thursday probably.Car last serviced at 98K now has 104k on it so I will probably give it an oil and filter change, important with those chain cam engines (no timing belt.) Wife quite looking forward to driving something with a bit of go. The Swift SZ3 DDi was a good little car but the cat was knocked in the crash and at £2.5k+vat for a replacement it was written off. It will take 12 to 13 wks approx for the new car to come so it will probably be after Christmas when I will be looking to pass it on. It is a 2001 dark blue on a Y plate MOT’D till Sep 13.It only cost my wife £230 business use Ins. It was sold as a trade in for a Skoda because the owner panicked when Saab went pop. A mechanic told him he’d have trouble getting parts for it!

Wife’s lease car just been written off in an accident, so we have to wait 12 to 15 weeks for a replacement. So I have just bought a friends trade in Saab 93 Turbo, FSH and mot’d for 12 months for 400pounds with 104k on it. It’s as sweet as a nut, been serviced every 6k from new. It will be for sale when the new lease car turns up.

Surely most of us on here ride to maintain a level of fitness that we find harder to maintain as we get older. All riding is good. Buying a lighter bike to go faster bemuses me, why not ride more and get fitter. I know a lad who has no car, rides everywhere on his old steel kona with rim brakes and steel fork. He can ride the legs of everyone I know on their 3k FS’s.
Enjoy it I like it, is it better than the ribble, cos I may think about a road bike for the commute to work to try and get more riding in.

6ft 4″ with a long back. I’ve got a berghaus jacket with an extra long body. My local berghaus outlet store ordered one from the factory for me. It actually goes down below the bottom which is what you need when it’s peeing down.

If my dog barks in the garden it’s usually because she’s playing with my son, or wants to be let back in the house. She’s a rescue so training is ongoing. She gets to bark once then that’s it any more and I’m down on her hard. I have a responsibility to my neighbours and the dog. Sounds like you need a bit of training Pudd on how to treat and look after pets. I will look out for you on the next Neighbours From Hell.

I had an 02 Scudo with the 2.0L jtd engine. As fast as any car, I loved it so did my son, my wife hated it.
Middle seat to small for an adult really. Best mountain biking tool for the single man ever invented!

Never had a problem riding on the road in the North East. But then I am a big b@stard. Only ever had to rip one door mirror off a car when I was clipped and the bugger didn’t stop, only to be stopped at a level crossing a few yards up the road. It was in Lincolnshire though. France is especially good for cycling and food and wine, lovely people.

I can only think of one but you’ll struggle to find a good one. Nissan Terrano. Quite narrow and high, properly good off road, tough as old boots if you go for the 2.7 TD. This is the engine that London taxis use, good for 200k easy. Simple diesel pump not common rail stuff. Do not go for the 3.0 DCI, it’s a Reno lump, unreliable and very pricy to fix.

Diesel X trails can be a world of financial pain if you don’t have a warranty covering the Turbo, they use naff compression fittings for the oil feed for the turbo, some only last 30k. Warranty extended from the main dealer to try and placate customers. Petrol ones are more reliable. Very good to drive and great offroad.

Remember getting a phone call in Italy from my mum back home telling me that Ben our family Deerhound cross lurcher that I’d had since he was a puppy when I was fifteen had to be put to sleep. I never got to say goodbye to the old bugger. There is something in my eye as I write this. That was thirteen years ago. I’m really sorry, remember the good times!

Last thing I won was a six pack of toblerone! I love toblerone. Good look mate, nothing better than being able to clear a bit of debt. Takes the pressure off for a bit.

Funny that my greyhound would run flat out bl@@dy anywhere. Never needed my bike to get that nugget to run. My previous lurcher would chase rabbits and deer all day long. Never once took a bike. Let’s be honest you’re killing two birds with one stone!

My inbred456 was stiff as hell not much difference between that and my old giant ali hardtail. My 853 kili flyer on the other hand is sublime. Depends as much on design than just material type.

Your looking for a flying carpet there mate powered by fairy dust. Petrol powered Honda of some description probably your best bet. Any diesel very complicated with expensive fuel and clutch related problems not to mention DPF’s. I would plum for a Honda Jazz the 1.4 maybe.

Me thinks you fell into the same trap I did. You need a 120 fork minimum for this bike and I think 130 to 140 is probably ideal. The seat tube angle is meant to keep some weight over the front as well. 680mm min bar with a short stem 50 to 70mm then when you get used to this something like a 750mm havoc. I hate to say it but I think you should have got a Whippet. K100 on a 456, you can do it but a Whippet will be so much quicker and take less out of you.

So many very good British ales out there, why any one would pay good money for that stuff amazes me. Tonight I am mostly drinking Mordues Workie Ticket.

Just because it’s branded don’t assume that it’s better than the ford stuff. Ford oil is designed for ford engines. Castrol is designed for lots of engines of varying specs. I’ve had both diesel and petrol fords and always used Ford spec oil for the car I’ve had at the time and they have all ran well over 100k with no probs or noticeable wear.

That Ford oil is very good stuff. I always buy Ford oil and ford oil filter and a new sump washer from the parts department at my local Dealer for my Mondeo. The prices are always decent. The viscosity is bang on for the cam followers apparently.

I think its quite a gamble to know exactly when to get rid of a car to save on the big bills. I don’t think VW/Audi cars are any more or less reliable than other makes, but like a lot of Japanese marks I think they are still living of the reputation they had in the 80’s and early 90’s when every other manufacturer were piss poor. If you like the car and you know what’s been done and replaced lots of stuff then it may be worth a punt and get the ECU done. Always fancied a diesel auto. I know that the Audi tiptronic box was designed for the 4.2 Quattro engine so is really strong, don’t know what the reliability is like on the 2wd auto box. 120k mileage has been mentioned by mates in the trade then big probs.Think I would go for a Mercedes 220CDI auto.

Just don’t tell the Dogs Trust you are out for 8hrs or you have kids. I’ve found in the past that if you put must be good with children the selection of dogs goes down to about zero. I think they are not willing to take any chances where children are concerned even if you have experience of the breed. Go for a lurcher. You get mongrel toughness and intelligence and you can leave them to sleep all day.

Remember the most important thing to do with any turbo charged engine is to let the engine idle for a few minutes before you turn off the ignition. This will allow the bearings in the turbo to cool especially important if the vehicle is towing something. Turbo’s get incredibly hot because they are powered from the exhaust gases from the engine and they spin at several thousand rpm, if you turn off the engine the oil supply is stopped, the oil in the turbo carborises and this leads to damaged bearings and ultimately failure. X Trails very prone to turbo failure because of this. New oil in a diesel engine will blacken after a few miles, don’t worry about that. I would change oil every year or 8 to 10k which ever comes first.

Is the OP after Sci Fi or Fantasy. Elfs an Orcs or Robots an Aliens. I waded through the Thomas Covenant series, hard going and quite depressing. For fantasy David Eddings or Terry Brooks.

Very hard on the knee’s. Some tilers I know have stopped by their late 30’s, obviously floor tiling being the worst. Do you like riding a bike? I would tend to go towards gardening and landscaping, gets you fit, gets you outside and very hard to mess up.
