Agreed it doesn’t look the best but we intend to make it into a mini tennis court white lines and a net. It’s not there to replace a lawn, it’s there to provide entertainment for my son and his mates and to try to keep him off bloody Skyrim!

Yeah turns into a muddy mess over the winter then a dust bowl in the summer. Will investigate further then report back.

Both our cats were rescue ones, we obviously got the local nut jobs. Oh well good luck then. Still think they are a pre-curser to kids though.

This is normally a precursor to having children! Male cats even when neutered will fight and spray all over the house. Male cats are usually more affectionate than female cats. Both male and female cats will destroy the house in a matter of months. Our male cat died last year still miss him but after 14yrs of spraying and shredding the sofa’s I would never get another one. That’s not to mention the once a month trip to the vets to get him stitched up and antibiotic jabs. Our female cat is 13, she has spent the last 12 yrs bringing in dead and alive birds, rats, mice, voles and coy carp! She is a one cat urban wildlife killing machine. For this reason mainly I would never get a cat again. I’ll miss her when she goes though. You have been warned! As for cat flaps if I had my time again I would build a cat shed in the garden and let the cat in and out in the morning or in the evening. If it rains or its cold they could stay in the shed till I let them in. Cats are wildish animals and are tough as hell.

Ah that’s ok then. I take it you mean the bit between the lakes and Birmingham.

What people seem to be missing here is you have to frack where the bloody shale gas is. You cant just drill down stick a bloody tap in and start pumping it out FFS. Its to do with geology innit! The biggest reserves might just be in Oxfordshire or Buckinghamshire.

It’s pretty desolate up here apparently!

Go for the basic Bosch. Would happily go out and buy another tomorrow if our 12yr old one gives up.

I tend to keep things for a while, what is the lifespan of a SSD or does it depend on useage?

    Inbred456

Is a SSD a flash type hard drive as opposed to a rotating disc drive. What price do they start at? I’ve heard they are very efficient.

Has to be a Skoda shitty thing VRs on here doesn’t it?

No not at all, there are plenty of overpriced Audi’s and Beemers out there. I’ve owned all of the above cars mentioned and if I need space, comfort and economy the Mundano wins hands down.

Thanks some good advice there. Need something portable so I can use diagnostic software in car.

20yrs ago on the A9 my wife who went on an intensive driving course in Dunkeld witnessed a full head on about 4 cars ahead of her. That has stayed with her for life. The only other incident was a drunk falling out of a pub in Pitlochry on to the bonnet of her car! We are always very careful when visiting family and friends up there. We play spot the numpty and count how many near misses there are while keeping a good distance from the car in front.

The 1.9 tdi is a lot more reliable of that era than the 2.0 Fact. The oil pump drive for these engines has a tendancy to round off causing big repair costs. Vag are aware of this. Is it from a Vag dealer and has it dealer SH. If so you should be OK. If not stick with the 1.9. Do you need diesel? My Skoda Vrs 1.8T is returning 36 urban.

If I was in the market for a car similar to the one your after I would go for a good Cobra kit car based on a small block chevy 5.7 engine.

It will hold its value far better than a TVR.

Quite enjoyed Jo Whiley on for Wrighty, better taste in music and doesn’t cut half the music off to talk. Tarrant is the best stand in followed closely by Kielty. Vanessa is by far the most irritating with her patronising I’m here to educate you thick plebeians mantra.

Yes she is an old girl but once she picks up her coat tails she can surprise quite a few young whipper snappers. Will have a look at Revo see what they have to offer.

Some good info there Kevhl. Do you know witch turbo the later 200 bhp 2.0 TFSI engines had. Could the K03 comfortably cope with another 20hp. I agree with, as a large car the torque delivery is as important if not more so than a spikey power delivery.

Now that ive got her here is the link from the garage with more picks. I looked at several around the 2.5k mark, couldn’t find a decent one at that price.

Well done mate, you can have all the pleasure of teaching them loads of bad habits then handing them back to mummy and daddy at the end of the day like my dad does to me! The old bugger!

What does the 1.6 Tdi get average mpg?

    Inbred456

That would tie in with what I’ve picked up from the various tuning company websites.

That’s a nice bit of kit. I take it the bikes can go inside. Petrol good move, no nasty diesel injectors or pumps or dpf’s to wipe out your fuel savings in one bloody bill!

So does the 200 hp leon use the K03 turbo as in the vrs and the cupra 225 use the k04? I have noticed quite a bit of lag when accelerating in the higher gears. You really do have to keep them on the boil don’t you to get the best out of them.

My better half isn’t that impressed with the ride. Feels a bit harsh over firm. Too late now!!! The clutch is a bit heavier than she’d like as well. Just found out its got cruise control hidden on the indicator stalk rather than on the steering wheel. Also just found the average mpg GULP! Hope the overall average is going to increase a bit. While picking up a curry tonight just had a lad ask if it was for sale. No chance matey.

I think its bog standard at the minute, gives a fair old push in the back if you gun it. Jabba sport have an agent close to me that can give it a remap pushing out 210bhp with 230 ft/lbs for 240+Vat. That’s what they call a stage one with the standard k03 turbo. They also do a self install kit that’s switchable. I’ll leave it as it is for now till my insurance needs renewing then see what the costs are.

Picked her up this morning. Everything appears to work. No knocks or bangs as of yet. Aircon has been regassed. Its had new coil packs and a cat. New steering rack as well. Serviced every 10k from new. New tyres on the front. May need some discs on the back at some point. Cambelt and pump done at 65k. Appears to be getting mid 30’s mpg at the moment. I would say she’s nippy rather than fast. I can’t really think of anything that comes close with that amount of space for the money really( still looking through rose tinted glasses at the moment.)

I think the easy thing here is to give them the run of the house for the day. Shut doors to important rooms but let them wander to a shaded cool part of the house. They wont cause to much damage surely and you’ll have piece of mind they will be ok.

Dogs are for the whole house not just for kitchens!!!

Those seats are going to take some getting used to.

Quite a big boot slightly hampered by having those suspension braces across the back.

Yeah i looked at a lot of mk2’s lovely cars but just not any around up here for now. I would of gone for the estate but they are really thin on the ground. So its a detachable tow bar going on for the bikes.

200hp easy with a remap. A lot of cupra’s have the same engine and they kick out 225 as standard.

That is a 04. They are the standard alloys I think. 320mm disc brakes for what that’s worth. I pick her up tomorrow. Quite looking forward to driving her back to Durham via the back roads of course! I think they are 17’s.
