As long as you get rid at 80k you’ll be all right. Wouldn’t keep a newish diesel past that. Big bills looming after that. People on here will say mines done 150k with no probs but its probably pre DPF and probably a pre common rail VAG ie 1.9 TDI PD. As said above do your research and choose carefully.

Is it an old plasma tv. They run very hot and consume quite a bit of power. People fix them to a wall and when they take them off there are burn or scorch marks on the wall. Probably a build up of dust or fluff inside.

Have you looked at a Terrano. Bullit proof 2.7 tdi engines, the same as a london taxi! If I was needing a 4×4 it would be one of these and I have built several V8 off road competition landies.

By the way the lad who competes in that V8 ran a mitsubishi 3.0 D to pull his caravan etc and loved it.

A reporter in Scotland asked for the views of a cross section of women in Scotland what they thought about devolution / independence what ever you want to call it. The majority wanted more information before they made up their minds. This wasn’t an official mori poll. It was just another interesting view to add to the debate. Tad touchy old chap. Strike a nerve did I ? 🙂

Was watching an interesting debate about Scottish Independence on the box and it appears that Scottish women voters are far less inclined to vote for it than Scottish male voters. They are looking more into the fine detail and realising that they aren’t getting the answers that they want. Could this be a male testosterone fuelled campaign that is about to fall apart as people start asking more questions.

I keep hearing about “its a chance for Scotland to take control of it’s own destiny rather than being an afterthought at Westminster.” Total bollocks! Scotland has a massive influence at Westminster. If you want to know what it’s like to be ignored politically come up to the North East or down to the South West of England. I think this could end up going very badly wrong and costing both English and Scottish tax payers a shed load of cash for little benefit to both parties. Meanwhile the politicians sitting in parliament with their gold plated pensions and inflation busting pay rises will be p!ssing themselves laughing at us. It’s a win win for them either way and it will end up costing us all more. 😯

My father in law decided once to change the oil on his felicia. So he drained the gearbox oil out and then added 4 litres of oil to the engine!!! Cue oil spewing out all the way from lincoln to Durham and a decidedly knackered gearbox. Drained what was still in the engine back down to the max mark on the dipstick and then filled the gearbox back up. Got them home but it was never right after that.

Wife is Scottish but living in England. She would vote no and so would I. If you think there is any difference between any politician’s I’m afraid you’re deluded. We want less not more surely.

That was the one Baxi Duotec. That’s what he put in his house. He was commercial big stuff for factories and offices. He had no bias as his tickets etc have expired and his was fitted by a mate who recommended it. Seems like a good guarantee though 7yrs!

A good neighbour of mine who was a commercial gas boiler engineer now retired advised me to get a baxi condensing boiler with a high output for the hot water. Combi’s in his opinion are overated and overly complex leading to problems after just a few yrs.

My 456 was one of the most stable and solid bikes I’ve ever ridden. It was just the solid back end that made me change. No other reason. The quality of the frame was excellent and the geometry spot on for general riding. Stick a u-turn fork on and it will cope with anything. What tyres did you run? Probably a bigger factor than anything else.

If tha faces are meeting around tha alloy frame your clamp is too big. Carbon assembly paste is your friend.

I know it’s crap and there is not much you can do. Put the money aside and get everything done before you sell. The only thing worse than this is to get it repaired then bump the car or have it scratched again. If it’s not down to the metal it’ll be fine over the winter.

Check all vacuum pipes for splits. Check turbo boost pipe for splits opening up when on boost. Check turbo actuator etc. Presuming the 90 hp has a turbo of course. Chris diesel to the forum!

A 2yr parts and labour warranty won’t cover a dpf as this is a service item. Make sure it gets a blast out every few days. 20 mins at over 2000rpm for the re-gen. They are superb cars when they are running. Don’t use cheapo supermarket diesel either shell v-power is the best. Worth every penny in the long run.

I’ve never heard of not using bleach on a stainless sink. Next thing we’ll have to water the fairy liquid down in case it eats through the bowl. 😯

If it has a warranty then get the fitter or company that fitted it to make good. That includes repair or replace sink and refit worktop etc. Don’t p!ss around with repairs get the company to sort it.

Only real weak point on those is the oil to water cooler for the transmission oil I think. Somewhere near the front and prone to damage. Keep an eye on that and I think you’ll be very happy with it. Been keeping my eyes open for a late 2.7 terrano 2. The one before they changed for emissions to the 3.0 dCi.

We had a guy at work that complained that the new owners didn’t buy the staff biscuits for their tea break anymore, despite paying him about 2£/hr more so he could buy himself a pkt of biccy’s and a new car! It’s all relative.

Any decent bodyshop will repair that to a standard that is better than new. Probably have to machine polish the whole car to stop the new paint from standing out so much. A new door will only be a skin anyway. 1200 quid is a ridiculous amount of money for that. 400 tops I would of thought. My car rolled back into the back of some one’s car at work. Cracked the bumper and pushed the mounts back. Whole bumper repaired and sprayed new decals and trim 140 pounds. The paint was the most expensive item.

I heard somewhere that Atera actually make the VAG original equipment roof bars and rails etc. German company and very well thought of on the continent.

Don’t waist your time with dogs trust. Unless you are there 25 hrs a day have no small kids and have extensive experience with problem dogs and several acres of fenced of land you won’t meet there selection criteria. Its far better to leave the dogs for a few hrs a day and have a loving home with walks in the morning , night and weekend than in a kennel for hrs and hrs in some plush rehoming centre.

If you work a puppy is out of the question really. They need a lot of care for the first few months. Socialising and training and they get very nibbly chewy which your little one won’t enjoy. I would look at a greyhound, an ex racer. They are used to very long periods in kennels and whatever you can offer them will be like heaven. They will sleep all day and are very placid animals. Not very good for following you on the trails though. We would still have our rescue greyhound if he hadn’t of removed half of the cats tail in the garden one day.

Says the man who isn’t looking at a 1k plus bill for any multitude of diesel related maladies. Buy new and get rid at 3yrs or 60k or buy petrol.

Tends to be on roundabouts when buses go round when there tanks are full and it pours out. Very dodgy in a car must be lethal on a motorbike. Come on bus companies you have a duty of care to ensure your vehicles are safe for other road users. Must be something to do with the vent for the tanks.

Nothing wrong with helicoils but they can be tricky to insert. A first tap should be fine. Don’t use any oil or cutting fluid you don’t need it for cleaning the thread out. It may also affect the bolt torque and you don’t want that bolt loosening off. If you have to, put some copper grease on the shoulder of the bolt as that is where it will stick. You really don’t need a new hub it will be fine, trust me I have repaired far worse and never had a problem. You are to be commended for having a go. The whole exercise is to save money.

Not a tapered thread but a tap with a large lead in to get past the damage. Any engineering shop would be able to re tap it or fit a M12 helicoil.

If you try and re tap out the hole try and use a 1st tapered tap so it doesn’t follow the knackered first few threads. If it does the hub will be scrap. You really need a 1st 2nd then plug tap. I would be surprised if halfords has one of those.I would drill out the first few knackered threads, if there is only 4 cross threaded threads I wouldn’t worry.

You want an LED telly. We’ve had our basic 32″ samsung for 2.5 yrs no probs as yet. Get a decent make Samsung or Sony and you’ll be fine.

Sounds to me that there has been a lack of a father figure or at least a strong male mentor. Getting drunk and disorderly at 11 could have been a cry for help or at least a massive warning sign that things are not right. You are going to have to try and engage with the kid and try and steer him down the right path. Little steps at this stage. Set some boundaries, practice what you preach. Does he ride or have any interest in bikes, could you get him to do a bit of all mountain or downhill gnarry stuff that might appeal to a sixteen yr old!

Just threatening to throw him out won’t end well, blood is thicker than water.

Ive got an old pair of 4yr old Moab’s great shoe if not a little bit chunky. I tend to go with North Face because they are the right width for my feet. Can’t get past the sports direct image of karrimor.

Sorry I meant Genghis. I’d 2nd the petrol idea. I was looking at Skoda mk2 1.9tdi estates with massive milage on 4k plus so I bought a Octy mk1 Vrs hatch 34 mpg if I’m careful huge boot etc etc. The only vehicle that would temp me back to diesel would be an older golf mk4 estate or a Skoda Octavia 04 vintage. They are still silly money for a 10yr old car.

I have a Mondeo 2.0 TDCI 130 sitting on my drive waiting for somebody to take it away for spares or repair. It was a cracking car, great for the bikes, economical, fast and handled superbly. It had 110k on it. The injectors are stuffed 3 out of 4. A leak off test showed this. One k to replace 4 plus labour. If the pump is breaking down blocking the injectors thats another 800 plus but not before it blocks the new injectors! Be very careful, if I was buying another high mileage diesel it would be a VW group 1.9 TDi every time.

Very happy in the North East , would like a little holiday place in or around the North York moors, if abroad probably around Vezac in the Dordogne.
