Slight thread hi-jack. For sustain has anybody tried the Ibanez Tube Screamer? I have acquired a 5w tube amp that has a great tone but is bloody loud when it’s over driven. Looking to get a decent over driven sound with a sensible volume level.

I used to use 9’s years ago with a really low action. I now prefer the feel of 10’s better tone and sustain for me. Action is a little higher may even try 11’s at some point. I think it’s definitely worth letting your guitars get used to the humidity in your house then getting a professional set up with your intended style and tuning etc in mind.

My Mum rescued a Wippet that had been thrown off Bishop Auckland viaduct. Lost her tail and both hips had to be removed. Still like a rocket seems to cope fine. She is a slight dog though. Keep the weight off and I think you’ll be fine.

You’re all saying the format was tired and needed changing. The worldwide success of the show and the format would tend to disagree with you all. Evans has tried and failed because he tried to out do Clarkson and Co and that frankly was never a goer. The show is not for you and never has been. It’s for your kids, it’s a pantomime car show with a few adult orientated jokes. I get pleasure from watching my son laugh his head off at the daft antics they get up to. He’s 13 yrs old. They may well increase the viewing figures as it settles down but they will never replace James May who was my main reason for watching anyway.

If Skoda is doing a deal you can get 0% finance VW finance means free servicing for 3yrs with breakdown cover it works out a better deal than buying nearly new with your own finance.

Hyundai i10 is one of the best small auto’s on the market. The vw ups etc have a awful mechatronix box stay well clear of them. Can’t comment on the Aygo’s C1 etc but I think they are just a bit to small.

Mrs Inbred has the Fabia 110 dsg. She loves it so easy to drive. Has normal drive mode for pootling and sport mode for nipping about. Very smooth and easy to drive. Great in traffic stop start works really well. My next car will be Dsg.

Quiet times at night generally don’t lend themselves to sleepy bye bye times for a sproglet. It took me 6 months to go from a 2.30am bedtime to a 12.00 midnight bedtime. Motion and noise is your friend at this moment. Having said that ours had a built in motion and level sensor that immediately woke him up if you laid him down or stopped moving. Just remember we have all been through this and you are not alone!

We live in Co Durham but have family in Scotland Surrey Stockport etc. My take is there are lovely people all over the place but don’t pretend you have proper countryside down south. It’s all very Midsommer but all you really have is a strip of green belt between towns. 😆

I would try and get a quote from people like Adrian Flux or Lancaster ins. In your position I would get another family member to insure the Van. Get yourself a little run about and get some experience under your belt. See if you can be added to the Van policy as a second driver and only drive it on holiday ie as a legit infrequent second driver. We’ve all been through this time experience and not claiming is your friend!

Don’t brake hard and hold the brake at the top of slip roads. This stops the brake cooling where the pad is and it deforms. Release the brake after a hard brake allow the disc to rotate freely. Brake early and allow the disc to cool without holding it clamped on.

I think Beemers must have massive body shells cos they are huge on the outside and small on the inside. I have a yeti it’s got more useable room than a x3 and has a much smaller footprint or seems smaller to look at anyway. I really like the look of the new superbs so will look to see what deals are on Dsgs next year. They are using new 7 sp wet clutches now that are supposed to be much more reliable. Next car will be an Auto so we’ll see what the reviews say.

Had an old SD Humax for years then got a HD version with 500GB and 5 tuners. Tried a different make inbetween took it back the next day and got the HD Humax. Nothing comes close. It just works easily and is very intuitive. My father in law has the you view box looks cheap but does the basics if he could figure out how to use it. We are for ever setting it up for him!

No just joking about the outback. Seriously our Yeti has been ace. It took some persuading for my wife to look at one. Lots of Skoda jokes etc but now she has just got a Fabia SEL with a DSG box. For the money not much comes close. Build quality is good. The Kuga is good but it’s value will plummet. The VW stuff seems to hold it’s value so it ends up cheaper in the long run. Touran is a bit expensive compared to the yeti I think. VW stuff just has electronic handbrakes so that was a no no for me.

I’m sorry but there is no way you are telling me that the parents of this girl had no inkling what was going on. I’m pretty confident in my parenting that I know where my son is, not every second but in the main I know where he is and who he is with. I also know roughly what he is doing on social media. Maybe we just have different methods of parenting and intervention. Maybe it’s easier with boys especially ones into sport etc.

There are two parties at fault here, Adam Johnson for obvious reasons and he has been dealt with accordingly.
The parents of this child have surely let their daughter down here. I know where my Son is every second of every day. If I had a daughter I would be even more paranoid.

If I was in western Oz it has to be Toyota doesn’t it. By the way I have a Yeti and it’s ace. She’s missing out there but you can’t put a sq peg in a round hole. What about a touran?

Will Gollop twin turbo 6R4 The good old days!!!

I used to be an avid fan of F1 on the Beeb but now I think I’ll try and get to a few more Rallycross races this year with the boy. Walk through the paddock talk to the drivers and mechanics about the cars and ask for photos of the cars with my son.

Got loads of decent single malts but never bought one for myself. Two bottles of Bombay Sapphire a year for me and normally one bottle of Drambuie for the Mrs for over Christmas. So not a lot really. Wouldn’t miss it if I couldn’t drink anymore.

What amazes me is we have a decent income not that much debt. We save up mainly for things we need etc etc. People we know on modest incomes have just seemed to of gone mental spending. Brand new cars extensions multiple foreign holidays!!!!! How the bloody hell is that possible!

Mrs Inbred said back when we bought our house that if we are to have kids she wanted to be there for them when they were on Holiday, so we bought a smaller house and basically her salary dropped by half when we had kids. No regrets here. Five years left on the mortgage. Paying under 400 a month. The only Debt I have is a PCP loan on a car and my kids tennis coaching which is bloody expensive!

Kielder for mountain biking cross border trail etc. Cragside and Rothbury done together are lovely. Barter Books and Alnwick castle and gardens. Bamburgh beach is quite possibly the best stretch of coastline in the UK( I’m biased) it has Warkworth Dunstanburgh and Bamburgh Castle and Lindisfarne Priory all near by. Craster smoke house for crab sandwiches. Hadrians Wall including several forts along its length. Hexham and Corbridge are lovely little towns on the way. Spend a day in Newcastle visit the Baltic Art gallery, Centre for Life is great for adults and kids alike. Hancock and Discovery museums are great if it’s wet. Wallington Hall is always worth a visit. National Trust membership will pay for itself and provide cheap parking.

Those 170’s put a lot of torque through the box. Have you tried VW/seat to see if you can get any goodwill on the box. That’s not a lot of miles. You might be surprised.

Regarding the 330e I take it the engine can charge the battery up when it’s flat because it’s range is only about 25 miles? I suppose that would probably be enough for most people.

I bought a cannondale 29er fitted it with some fast tyres and mainly ride up around Waskerly and the upper Durham Dales on old railway lines. Ever since I came off at Kildale and broke my ribs and generally bashed every surface of my body. I choose not to road ride due to assh4t motorists. So when I have to ride on the road to link sections I’m a bit slower on the 29er but I’m not bothered. I find mountain bikes more comfortable to ride than racers. One thing that definitely happens when you get older is it takes longer to heal! I don’t ride to hit fastest times on strava I ride to get out of the house and see the countryside and de stress. Ride what you want when you want all riding is good!

£ for £ the best value for money upgrade for performance is to map it but it’s already powerful enough for the chassis which was designed to be nice and safe with loads of understeer. Good quality tyres and brakes replace the suspension bushes with new ones and leave it at that.

If it’s a 2.0 litre turbo it should be the Saab unit from the 93. Very tuneable and the chassis is half decent. Ignore the naysayers it’s probably the best Vectra they made. Make sure the exhaust gas sump breather systems are fully working any Saab specialist keeps these in stock. Take the sump off and fully clean it and replace the oil pick up pipe. More important to do this than any tuning at this stage.

An old Boss of mine had a BMW M3 and I hated using that to pick stuff up and drop stuff to customers. Thought it just gave the wrong impression. On the other hand one of our sparky’s had an old Audi A6 Avant that had a tuned S6 engine and running gear which I had the opportunity to buy but stupidly didn’t. That was the most fun I’ve ever had in a car. I have always preferred all go and no show!

Our dog is not allowed on furniture unless I’m out and never on the beds. I don’t see the point in dogs not allowed upstairs. They are a pack animal and I don’t see what is wrong with sleeping in the corner of the bedroom on a blanket. They would never be segregated in the wild in their pack!

Tommy Emmanuel for the Win. They are so different Slash and May difficult to compare. Izzy was my favourite in GnR’s loved his playing. They were never the same once he’d had enough and left.
