Intercooler pipe on these tends to go at the bottom bend where oil collects and softens it.

BMW 320d upto 2007 with the 163Bhp engine no DPF! Any ford 1.8 tdci no DPF. Toyota Avensis pre 2010 2.0D4-D no Dpf. Honda Accord CDTi no DPF.

Stating the obvious it isn’t a left handed thread is it?

I looked at a Vrs petrol estate this spring. Decided to keep my Yeti a bit longer. I had a tuned mk1 vrs before that, The later mk3 seemed slow by comparison. The New Focus St estate was better in every way than the Vrs. There are some cracking deals on the focus from drive the deal and car wow.

I’ve never used a water based paint that was anywhere near oil based paint for durability coverage and quality of finish. Absolute tosh all of it. Only use crown oil based now, never had a problem.

I ride occasionally with a couple of work colleagues but that’s about it. No work nights out, meals or anything. There is a definite devide between what we would call admin and engineering.

I’ve changed how and what I ride. Mainly ride a 29er with semi slicks. Bridleways three ply tarmac canals cycle paths. Ride mainly to get out and do a bit of distance but hardly anything on the road if possible. It can tackle most things. Keep thinking about an adventure road/gravel bike but the 29er will go anywhere and it regularly does. All riding is good. My gnarr days are past me for now anyway.

Anything that has a heater element for water is normally the culprit in our house. Or a large sultana or raisin in the toaster!

Isn’t the black stuff unburnt diesel? The particulates from the combustion are caught in the DPF then burnt off turned to ash and stored in the bottom of the DPF ( the regen cycle) until it fills up and gets clogged and then it gets replaced. More shorter runs from cold result in the DPF clogging up faster. You would be surprised how many diesels don’t have DPF’s until after 2010. Why they just don’t make a DPF that you can empty at a service then you could manufacture one that could trap more rubbish surely.

Some DPF trivia. The Freelander 1 1.8L diesel and later 2.0 TD4 (which used the 2.0 BMW Engine) do not have DPF systems, and neither does the early 2.2 TD4 (158 bhp) Freelander 2 from its introduction in 2006 until 2010. All Freelander SD4, ED4 and the TD4 version released in 2010 (147 / 150bhp) do all have DPF’s fitted.
It’s the tiny particles that you can’t see that get in the blood stream that are the real nasty ones.

I don’t think you’ll find a better value one. Just put one on my Sons inbred. Remote works well. Time will tell how it lasts.

Got my son this one for his inbred. Works well so far.

Remote works well. Clamps hold the seat rails well.

Well I’m going to say it, what about a Swift 1.6 Sport. Not as rapid as the fiesta but arguably more fun, cheaper to run and better value. Nothing wrong with the fiesta either mind just offering an alternative that is slightly in my mind more grown up.

Ramblers don’t get me started on them. I had a debate with them this morning about bells on my bike. They are the devil incarnate!

I wrote a cortina estate off by hitting it in the rear passenger side door with my Raleigh Chipper at full chat as it drove past at about 30 mph circa 1979 ish. Freshly laid tarmac path and crap brakes! I think the Chipper was repairable. It faired better than the car from memory. I went over the roof and landed on my arse. No helmet in those days either.

Drac when you say North do you mean Lancashire and Yorkshire or the proper North above Scotch Corner. I see friends in Manchester quite a bit and it’s rammed with traffic compared to the North east. Standard of driving is ok though. Get further South and the standard drops exponentially.

There is a gradual right turn by a shear rock face as you near Matlock Bath. It’s in shade by the rock face and trees and the road is usually damp. Catches out a lot of inexperienced bikers going too fast. Road goes from dry tarmac to wet slimy just as it curves round. Not much give in a rock face.

We were with Barclays. Wife works for NHS so got a flier for Unite union home insurance. With bikes added saved over £100 with them.

Mazda 6 is the best of those choices by a country mile. Estate every time over a hatch. There is something nice about sitting on your boot floor with the lid up in the rain with an estate having a post ride snack.

Mk3 Toyota Avensis 1.8 vvti petrol auto estate. No Dpf EGR valve, Cam chain, CVT box so no DMF to worry about.

Oh just read the description on the items detailing what had happened on the eBay site. Pretty damning if it’s true. Having said that £75.00 a pair. May be worth a punt.

I have been following these threads with interest. At the moment I’m using a Cannondale trail sl 29er as my all purpose all road tourer. It can go anywhere, it’s comfy but slow on the tarmac. I have been looking at a Norco Search with hyd brakes. Must resist!

I find that I can only catch them up on climbs! On the flat they leave me for dead. I’m not a high cadence rider I just tend to plod along but I can grind a long climb out. They must just be using the motor only on the climbs, combined with the weight and lack of pedalling I can normally claw back a bit on the climbs, on the descents it’s pretty even.
I use them as a target to follow and see if I can keep up. I have no problem with them at all. If it gets people out and they are having fun then good on em.

This is a win win for everybody really.
May has to deal with the impending sh!tstorm of Brexit that nobody wants to deal with then she will undoubtedly have to resign or make way for another leader. She really has shown a complete lack of empathy and political awareness when tough questions have been asked. The sooner the better she’s gone for me.

Funnily enough I have my Bosch logixx dishwasher in bits in the kitchen as we speak. It’s easy to remove the drain pump. You can take off the drain pump cover inside the bottom filter housing and see if it’s jammed before taking out. Normally a sensor will shut the unit down if it’s not draining. If it blew the CB I think it’s more likely that the heater element has gone open circuit. Easy to test if you can get to it. On mine it sits in the base underneath. The hardest bit is removing the outer panels. Everything else just unclips.

I have a trail 29er but not the single speed. Don’t know about the cranks but you can get a crane headset using their headset finder web page to adapt a tapered fork to the headtube. I use mine as a all terrain tourer. Bridleways singletrack 3ply tarmac and back roads. It’s perfect for this, if I was doing more gnarr stuff I would want a slacker head angle.

The Kad stuff was superbly engineered problem as always with the A series is the gearbox and diff weak link. It costs a fortune to make them handle the power the Kad stuff is capable of putting out. The Minus works well with the Hyabusa engine because it’s light enough for the lower torque at lower revs to pull away without revving it’s nuts off. Needs a reverse gear for road use though! Original mini stuff is going up in value all the time.

Speeder yes it is. 4″ inches height taken out of the body. Bonded in steel stiffeners. We built a purpose built cage that tied the subframes together. Subframes sit a bit lower. Using a Weber allowed us to keep the normal bonnet. That one is putting out about 100bhp+ at the wheels. It’s very light which helps. As much work went into lightening everything as much as possible. I remember drilling the suspension cones to soften them, what a faff. Should of just used coilovers. They are very scarce these days. Most are used for track days with motorbike engines.

Built this about 20 yrs ago. Quite a high spec. 1380cc big valve head 45 DCOE piper cam, roller rockers, straight cut box etc. It’s quick when it runs properly.

One of the girls in our office has two of them. Never ever let off the lead. Constantly trying to escape and they have no recall at all despite being very well trained. One has diabetes. Quite common if not worked or exercised enough. They are lovely natured but I can’t help thinking they would be better off in the artic circle.

According to honest john if you fill with diesel and keep tank brimmed the petrol stays at the top of the tank and very slowly mixes with the diesel over time so it doesn’t damage the engine. Don’t let the tank drop below 2/3rds.

You will have to buy a drill, helicoil tap, insertion tool and insert. They also come as kit. Probably cheaper to get it done by a local engineering company.

Very few people buy a car and only use it to do 1 long commute a week do they. Cyclists may be the exception. In my opinion which is all it is, think that maybe it has been used for lots of short journeys. That is all. If the OP likes it then good luck and I hope it’s a great car. They seem very popular.

Maybe it was owned by a cyclist who rode everywhere local and only used it on the motorway for longer trips. Yeah right because that is what the majority of us do isn’t it. If there is no way you can say how it’s been used look for another one that you can. Trail Rat if you don’t want anybody to offer an opinion then why post?

Don’t want to be negative but 12k in 5 yrs? That is a lot of slow urban miles for a diesel. Expect to replace the DPF at some point and enjoy.

I’ll be voting Lib Dem up here in Durham. Always been Liberal in my views. Yes I know Farron comes across as a bit of a plonker. The Conservatives couldn’t give a damn about the NE and Labour just take us for granted as a done deal vote wise. I’m voting Labour cos me Stone Age ancestors did b@llocks. You’ve got to look after the less fortunate in society but it helps if you’re prepared to work for a living and contribute.

My 14yr old son has an inbred 16″ built up with a Marzocchi eta 120 fork, mavic rims lx/slx drive train with a mixture of Easton and Ritchey controls. It’s a bitsa bike, rides superbly and does everything from jump tracks to all day rides. His mates think it’s a pile of crap compared to their Carrera’s.
