    I’m 100% with Chipps on this. I don’t think the magazine is or should be an outdoor lifestyle magazine with some bike shaped objects in it. For me, riding over a bit of dirt or pootling on a canal path isn’t mtb.

    @StuE

    You could be right, but if everyone cancelled their subscriptions like most of my mates have we’ll lose something that’s great. The mags been around long before and hopefully long after the current agenda has finished. It’s a tough one for me, i feel like I’m paying more for less which isn’t a nice feeling, personally I’ll keep it going at the moment and see if it improves.

    Thanks for the update Chipps, I used to always really look forward to getting my hands on the latest singletrack, it meant a good few hours chilling out and having a laugh and learning stuff about mountain biking, discussions with mates about the mag etc – they’ve all unsubscribed now. Last funny one I remember was about 2 years ago, a guest writer about her travels with two men in Eastern Europe I think. Anyway I’m beginning to almost dread it, it’s turned into social commentary with a few bikes in. Nothing to actually read or be of interest – politics, inclusion all the rest of it is constantly beamed everywhere at the moment and singletrack was an escape.  Hopefully it can get its mojo back.

    Read it in an hour unfortunately,I found it very boring. I now understand I’m not the target audience anymore – ( I do buy bikes though ) but would it be so bad to have some humour and relatable fun mtb content. Navel gazing and whining isn’t for me. I am pleased I didn’t get too much of a prescribed hipster instruction manual this time though, last 2 editions I didn’t even bother after an initial squint. There’s entire articles that don’t discuss mtb once,  just the past and taking over and lipstick –  it’s just boring to me. I just don’t care about this group or that group or inclusion, I began reading singletrack a long time ago for escapism and to be entertained. I really like the layout and the smell is immense. The chipps article and the tech reviews were great additions though.  I’ll try another one though through fomo, tis getting harder as I’m no longer wanted it seems 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Hopefully it’s more entertaining I’ve found the last few boring, being not interested in the politics of people etc. Feeling a bit nervous given the mags current direction. Hopefully gets back to an inspirational and entertaining bike magazine.

    Norwegian Kit Kats are immense, lots lots betterer!

    Sounds very similar to what happened the other day to my nephew and his friend – only 15 years old and a car full of lads with machetes stole their bikes. Blow torch and pliers would be handy.

    Could a sofa surfing / cheap rentals section be a feature for the forum? For payed up ID’d members ?

    Just my opinion, clearly you aren’t in favour of people having them James. Magazine used to be funny and entertaining, its increasingly becoming boring and politicised, all i am saying. I’m fairly sure i wouldn’t be the only one thinking this. Used to be Northern, working class useful and funny, now its aspiring middle class boring mostly, i’ll hang in and see if it improves.

    Can’t you just **** the reviews off, keep it to stuff that people use and ride. Double the magazine subscription, and keep it funny and entertaining ie 2 years ago and backwards. To be fair the last magazine was the first one i read cover to cover for a long while. They just seem to have become really boring of late, full of moaning and politics.

    For the Scout hardtail launch, the pro riders chose 27.5 too.

    Surron do non pedally off road ebikes for £5k. Complete with fox 40 forks etc.

    All i am saying is that the previous arguments to try and justify the price of ebikes are void with the likes of Surron. You can do more runs, go further and cover the same terrain for half the money – in South Africa they’re using solar powered ones in anti poaching patrols for instance. I’m not concerned or justifying the price because your allowed to ride in certain places or about laws etc. I’m just pointing out that pedally ebikes are massively overpriced.

    As far as i know, they are’t illegal on the road. The price is the on the road price. Fox suspension, 40 DH forks etc. Or yes even 180mph road bikes for half the money. Th price of mountain bikes has always been justified by the fact they go off road and can take you places other bikes can’t. However now you can full electric for half the money of a pedally one, same suspension, tyres – off road capability. I can’t see the justification anymore other than profiteering and selling because a few people buy them. I can’t see a sustainable sport in it either, it’ll end up a sport for tossers with trust funds.

    No, my point is that we hear that the bikes prices are justified because of the off road capability, the motor etc etc. Its a nonsense, what the f**ck is weight to do with it, its an ebike b***end. legally ride? – nothing to do with it, i’m talking about the manufacturing costs.

    Suron off road electric bike £4500 upto 50mph, is the ability to pedal to 15mph worth £8k extra?

    Thats what i’m saying @Greybeard, – i don’t think any inspection firm will put there hands up and say 100% its fine and accept liability @sv.

    @Fantombiker @molgrips

    I’m just after being put back into the position i was in before the crash, i’ve pointed out the potential for injury and the fact that the only way i can be 100% confident is with a new frame etc. Hopefully they’ll see sense.

    @TiRed yes the car and garage were also damaged, mainly the door and frame, some to the roof as the mechanism is fastened to it. Car has most of the panels scratched, front / rear bumpers, headlights shattered etc.

    Rental bike and respray…. good shout, if they go down that route. Its not far off that hill, but its a straight road, very steep and a few hundred yard i reckon. Interestingly enough when the driver got out she pointed out that in years gone by her mum and aunt had both had similar crashes, taking out the lamp posts outside our house.. much mirth

    Good idea, i’ve been thinking along the same lines. Ive messaged santa cruz too and asked if they can recommend an approved inspector.

    Yeah i’ve taken it to the LBS for the report they’ve asked for, but they are going down the inspection route at the moment.

    The driver slid down the hill opposite our house after it had been snowing and managed to punt our car snooker style straight through our garage door, it stopped a good 20ft in and collected everything that was in there. The driver admitted liability obviously as i was sat in the lounge when it occurred, her insurance company are asking if it can be inspected, however i want it replaced. I shall persevere, cheers.
