I did a week in Ainsa with BasqueMTB last spring. Would definitely recommend. Thinking about booking on to the same trip again this Autumn. Great riding, mostly uplifted. Excellent guides. Apartment accommodation in the old town in Ainsa.

I am in a similar situation and have moved from Pedalcover to Laka.

I tried a set in Code RSCs. After a wet weekend with one day of uplifting at Cwnmcarn and one pedalling up at BPW they were worn down to the back plate. Tough conditions for them for sure, but I still a bit disappointinge. Performance-wise they were fine, but not a night and day difference to my normal set up of Race Matrix on the front and sintered on the back. I have another set which I was saving for the dry and will try once my current pads need changing.

I have inadvertently cycled in Wales the last two weekends. I had thought that the border followed the Wye around Monmouth, but it turns out it doesn’t. Didn’t have any issues. A heads up if your route involves Biblins bridge: it was still closed last weekend.

I have the metal ones. Warrantied once and now retired/in the spare parts bin. In both instances when the outer bearings wore out the resultant play destroyed the bearings, scoring the axle and inner pedal in the process. The scoring then means that you can’t slide the rebuilt axle back in. I think it’s a design flaw. They now sell a pedal rebuild kit with a brass bushing instead of the outer bearings, so I guess I’m not the only one who has had issues. Other than that they’re nice pedals. They might come with the brass bushing as standard now.

HonestBrew have a very good selection, but they use Yodel for delivery so you might find your package “signed for” and hidden behind the bins/under the car. At the moment I’m ordering direct from the breweries, most of whom have increased their direct sales of late. It is often cheaper buying direct.

Pressure Drop, Cloudwater, Verdant, DEYA, Northern Monk all do some excellent beers and have all ramped up their direct sales.

I’m pleased with the Orbi set up we have. Would buy again. Easy to set up, has eliminated “cold” spots in some corners of the house and now get consistency fast speeds everywhere.

I’m going to be in the area this weekend. I’m guessing it’s all a bit of a mess by now?

Think I missed this one, I’m guessing it’s a this year change. What’s the combined cap now?

New cap is £5000 combined. There was thread about it a couple of weeks back:

    PedalCover Home Insurance

I need to move off Pedal Cover due to their reduced maximum value across all bikes, and will be going with Laka.

After some more digging, Laka and Yellow Jersey look like the best alternatives. Both are bike only. Yellow Jersey is more expensive but offers more extras. I’m probably going to go with Laka for the bikes and pick up home insurance separately from my bank.

Just come across this reply from NRW to the local Welsh Assembly member. It states that the felling will occur December to March, and includes a map of the area to be felled.

I tried and the bottle hit the pump. The pump bracket can be positioned further out to avoid this, but then it’s not supported by the down tube. I got some of these and attach the pump under the top tube, which works great: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005I4GVQA/

Maps for the Transcenduro and Boost will be released at 7pm on Thursday according to the website. Maps for the Epic are in the riders notes, which are up on their website now.

When I’m looking to explore a new area I find cross referencing the Strava heatmap with a normal map is the easiest way to find out where off piste trails are. This will work well in FoD.

Does anyone know how the trails are running after the recent rain?

I can confirm that the cap for a camelbak podium bottle also fits the Fidlock bottles.

Something to note with the Fidlock bottles: if you have a pump attached to the same bosses it might interfere with twisting the bottle to remove it.

I’m looking for a rack at the moment too, primarily for a Bronson. I like the look of the Yakima HighRoad and the Thule Upride. I think the HighRoad looks like the better rack, but it’s limited to a 48 inch wheelbase which (just) rules it out for me.

[edit] I now see that the UpRide is limited to 1240mm wheelbase, which also rules it out for me as the XL Bronson comes in at 1252mm.

To be fair the trails at Staunton, I find are a different scale in terms of their technicality. Quite easy to find yourself on something that requires proper commitment and some skill

Not been over to Staunton yet. How do the trails compare to things like Murdocks, Whiters, Ceris 2, Heckler etc?

Go and explore Shotover. There are lots of little trails through the woods and an increasing number of jumps in the Eastern corner. I’m there a couple of times a week, but usually early mornings before work.

I ordered the OneUp Bash Guide from https://www.bike-components.de/ recently. I’ve used them a couple of times when I’ve had trouble sourcing things. I have the OneUp Top Guide on my current bike and it’s been great.

You’ll be in for a shock if you haven’t been for 30 years:

Remember that despite there being a lift it’s off piste. If you’re not experienced in skiing on glaciers, including the ability to rescue each other if you fall down a crevasse, I’d hire a guide. They’ll also know which route down is in best condition and be able to pick the most enjoyable route for your ability.
