    Maxray,
completely off topic(I can’t find an Email ad for you), did you sell the XC120 frame you had?

    Cheers.

My vote is for the Bontrager rimstrips which are shaped to resist the tyre moving off the bead hook of the rim(like a UST rim).
The shape also makes for easy inflation.
They are cheap as are the valves.
They can be used on 19mm+ rims of Bonti and other makes.17mm Alex rims were no good but other 17s might be OK.
They work with variuos tyre makes – perfect with Bontis.

    Nooooo
Just cut a washer(slightly smaller than bearing outer) in half, file the sharp edges down, insert one at a time behind the bearing and push out with two sockets – one through the bearing onto the washer and one bigger than the bearing outer braced on the BB body.

Yes, I like to use the trains when I can but with the 5 plus dog & trailer I think I would get some hassel so It would end up with just me going back to get the car again while everyone else waits.
This wasn’t too bad last time as we had a mobile home we were stopped in.
This time we need to finish and get back home. Might be a car at each end job.

Are you saying that the non drive side bearings fail but the drive side last?
This is what I have found and so have put a LizardSkin head set protector around mine in an atempt to stop the cack getting to it.

I am PC and not a Whiz, hence the questions and “Little-boy-lost” look.
I am looking at Seagate Expansions 1000Gig at the mo, £55(“Do you want tweeters with that?”)

    Will any old HD do?
    Are some better than others?
Any features I should look for?
I will probably be looking in Ebuyer for them.

    Cheers again.

    Yep
You need to do some severe stops. As you do you should feel the braking power increase.
Last time I did it I was peddaling down hill with the rear brake fully on 4 or 5 times until it was fixed.

    Noise is my current problem.

We did the Devon Coast-to-coast with the three kids so I had a big load and the dog in the trailer sometimes.
I was really impressed how much more comfortable a trailer(2 wheels Cargo2) was over paniers.
There was no heavy feel to the bike and side to side instabillity just resistance going foreward.

Light touring I would still go for paniers but the trailer for more gear was brilliant.

I have those rims and use Joe’s sealer but with Bontrager rim strips.
Dirt cheap and work a treat. Very well held bead to the rim.

We had a Whippet when I was a kid and she was a great dog but a thief and a bit thick.
Not bothered by cats unless they move!
My Dad said she was from racing stock so was a lot bigger and broader than some you see – Those Italian Greyhouns look a bit fragile to me.
We have a Tibetan Terrier now and she is the best.
Great with the kids, runs well, cat like agility and leaping, very playfull and clever.
A big plus is she does not drop hair – Bedlingtons and Poodles and their crosses are the same.

If you can, try some rotors AND mounts.
I seem to remember that the mounts go with the discs so a 180 mount should put the caliper somewhere near the right position. You can then tune position using fatter/thiner spherical washers off any old Vee brakes you have or by filing down the mount where the spherical washers sit.
Just keep monitoring where the pads are relative to the disc.

I’ve got some cheap Hi-tech boots, Nevana, Napalm, Nivia or something like that and they stick well to my Wellgo V12 coppies with the longer pins.
Water proof, walk friendly(just a bit too bendy).

    That was an odd show.

Depends on the depth of the grooves I would think.
If you are worried stick a new one on – It is your Front brake so quite important.
Alternatively, stick it on the back and buy a 200mm rotor for the front( a 160mm on the back is probably adequate though IMO)

I find the BMX tubes re-usable. I just don’t trim them too close to the rim. I believe they are there to prevent burping as the seal remains intact even if the tyre bead leaves the rim.
My favourite is the Bontrager system, though. Their rim strip mimics the shape of a UST rim and so holds the tyre bead up and in contact with the rim hook. Even a deflated tyre is difficult to disengage from the rim.

I ride a motorbike and at this time of the year I wear an “executive” zip up Hi-viz(£10 ebay).
Sleeves are the important bit I feel. Can be seen all round even with a ruc-sack on.

I have had this but am struggling to remember the cause.
Have you had the mech/chain off or even loosened on the hanger?
Its a clock spring that holds the tension – one end against the cage and one end against the hanger via a rotating piece between the mech and hanger.
If this piece has slipped so that its stop is no longer against the hanger then you loose your tension.
With the chain off can rotate the cage so that you can put the tension back?
I hope the above Gobbledy-gook is SOME help.

    Thanks, guys.

Will I need a special extractor?
Was looking at one of these http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=10181

I have, coincidentally, been off the stuff for a couple of weeks and had just asked Mrs imp to pick some up as my knees were feeling a bit uncomfortable again. Then I heared this report.

I will continuing to take them.

If I remember correctly I removed the spacer completely and the air in the other leg is enough to fully extend the fork(spring still has some pre-load). I am fairly light at 12st, though, so it might be good to re position the spacer to add spring pre-load if you are a heavier rider.

Alcohol screws my sleep for sure unless it is the eating I do with it just before I go to bed.
And I think it is lettuce and bananas that help sleep – but not just before I go to sleep!
    Good luck!

I recomend going out the front of your house and messing about BUT on your daughter's 24" wheel bike.
I wondered what the hell was going on as I sailed down the road on the back wheel – astonishing! and probably never to be repeated.

    Here's a strange idea – Longer pins!

That's what I did and it stopped MOST of the shin impacts but of course when you do clout the pedal……..

We went there in Easter and it was the best.
    Our kids are 10,11&13.
We went with The Adventure Company and had a great guide with us all the time which was dead-on for us non seasoned travelers.
We started with Cairo and the Pyramids then night train to Luxor then sail up the Nile to somewhere else then big drive over to Hurghada to snorkel in the Red sea.
The guide, Saif, knew loads about the ancient world as well as the modern Bazars and could recomend where to eat with little risk of getting ill.
Anything dodgy happened and he was there like a shot to sort it out.
The least enjoyable bit was the all inclusive stay in Hurghada – We don't like resorts, though.

The original banjo is crimped to the old hose and so not re-usable.
I need a new stand-alone banjo made to be connected to a loose hose.

I got a Gunsons test-tune as I used to do loads of car stuff.
The beauty of these is that the scale shows you where the readings SHOULD be so you don't need to look them up.
    Volts
    Volts while cranking
    Resistance
    Resistance of HT leads, coils,
    RPM
Stuff like that. Obviously 12v and less only, though.

We used to keep a book of the poor attempmts at management speak that our ct boss would say
"We're just the last kog in the chain"
"I'm only human – I think most of us are" That's made me laugh just writing it!

Now a days my most hated is "Absolutely!" used in a strange way to infer that you are perfectly aware of all these brand new facts that are being fired at you.

I have been wary of updating for a couple of months now after trouble with an update. I did a re set thing back to an earlier time to fix it.

No need for the Flambe(accent) on the discs. Meths on a rag does it for me. Then de glaze the pads on wet&dry placed on a flat surface and pads rubbed in circular motions.
    Re-bed the pads.

    Avids – 3,5 & 7.

    A bloke I know worked for Triumph(Hinkley)
The engine test bloke there told him that all the oil reps would supply their recommendation and pay for an engine and test. The best ones would then be sorted on the best deal for Triumph and this would be Triumph's recommendation to its customers.

At the time(10 yrs ago) the only one that passed their fierce tests was Mobil 1 racing.

    So that's what I use. (80K).

I love the Bonti set up and the tyres as well(Not the juice, though).
Are you sure the tyres are tubeless ready? Trek (and others) sometimes fit shit OEM tyres that look the part but are made of plastic.
I can't understand this as I am sure it puts people off buying their brand of tyres period. First impressions and all that.

Should pump up easy with a track pump especially if they have been on the rim before so have a good "shape".

You can use the rimstrips and valves on other rims too as long as they are wide enough(WTB Lazerdisc Trails).

Also I have had a couple of real tight tyres – I bust the bead in one.

When it stops you need to diagnose there and then. Pull a fuel line off and check for petrol. Take a spark plug with you and pull HT lead off one of the plugs and insert your spare. Earth plug to block and crank. Is there a spark?
That's how we used to do it!
    DTCs,EMUs,ECUs Bahhhh!!
