I’ve not decided on coil or air yet…. Im tempted towards the coil as I’m running coil on the rear. From what I’ve read and heard the damping is good for the normal riding but jtech will tune it to what I want.

Shred XS is good quality kit, my lad has a few pairs of Dakine Pace Shorts which are excellent for summer riding and can be picked up on ebay for a decent price. As for gloves he used to like madison gloves in various guises.

My 13 year old is running a small 2017 giant trance frame with bits I got together from Ebay and friends. Personally I wouldn’t buy a new one until he’s stopped growing as they only tend to get a couple of years out of the frame as he’s growing and resale value of second hand bikes is really poor nowadays.

Same here…. Tried to fit Raceface Aeffect cranks into a new XT BB…..first attempt I destroyed the plastic cover so had to buy a new BB…… Second attempt I sanded the axle down with some emry cloth to get all the sh#t off the axle after that it was plain sailing.

I’ve just had the excact same dilemma for my lads bike….. Wiggle were selling SLX M7000 calipers for £22 per end with pads last week so I snapped them up….just make sure you get SLX or XT due to the banjo fitting.

Im the same as you… I hate gloves! I was running the Fabric semi ergo grips last year all year and never had any problems in rain, Sleat or snow. I’ve given the magic mushroom ones ago this time and I’m really impressed with the grip and vibration damping on them.

I wouldn’t touch another Maxxis tyre again…… I had a DHF on the rear last all of a week before the casing went pear shape, since then I’ve being running Michelins front and rear for the last few years and won’t be changing anytime soon. I’m running them with Rimpacts with no problems what so ever. My riding is mostly the peaks and DH local trails. The only thing I would say is they don’t like tarmac….. I ripped a few side lugs off on a commute ride last month.

I think Rockshox use SKF seals as standard now.

I would have said the Cura 4’s until I read about the part sourcing problems. I’ve been running guides and codes for the last 10 years without any problems…. Previously run XT’s and disliked the wandering bite point. I’m currently running Ghetto Code RS (Guide RE calipers on Guide RS levers) and prefer them to the Codes on my last DH bike.

Another thumbs up for the Bird aeris 145….. Ive had mine about a month now and love it. First class service from the Bird guys and you can up the travel with the extra linkage if required.

The Ion Rascals are a good bet, I’ve had them for the last 3 years…. My first pair lasted about 8 months then the stitching started to come away, Ion simply sent me a new pair no quibbles. I had the originals stitched up at the cobblers which and are still in use as my winter shoes.

I’m running a Super deluxe coil ultimate and it’s the Mutts Nutts…….you need to be a aggressive rider to get the best out of the coil shock to be truthful.I borrowed a mates air shock for a few days and after riding both shocks I’m glad I opted for the coil.

I had the same query a few months ago.. .. My RF boost chainring had 3mm offset…. I ordered a Blackspire boost chainring that came flat as a pancake after much head scratching I fitted it and have had zero problems with the chain line.

I’ve just built up a 145 with a super deluxe coil ultimate…. It does Bob a little bit but not that noticeable but when on rough climbs it helps with traction…. But on the flip side once you’ve reached the top of the climb it’s smiles for miles! It’s like a mini DH bike… It **** rips. I was blown away how it holds lines. I was 50/50 when ordering air or coil,I’m glad I opted for the coil as Im a winch and plummet rider. I’ve just come from a 160 travel bike and I don’t miss the extra 15mm…Im running 160 upfront.

I was a bit worried at first when my lad asked to go out on his full suss with his mates down the woods, he was under strict instructions not to let anyone else on it. He used to go out on the wifes hardtail and rag that about…. Its a good job I let him out on his full suss because I don’t think the wifes bike would have lasted long with the shapes and gaps he’s hitting now…lol. I now look at it as he’ll enjoy it more and you only get one childhood and I want him to enjoy it to the max.

I’ve just done the same to my newly purchased 145…I didn’t buy the kit though. I hot a 3mx100mm roll of heli tape from Ebay and a roll of 3m 2228 tape and cut them to shape myself. I’ve covered all the contact areas possible. Easy to and all for the cost of £30.

How much low speed compression are you guys running on your super deluxe coils? Managed to get a hour out on the new bike today but really didn’t have much time to tinker.

I’ve just received my Aeris 145 size large frame, had a quick sit on it yesterday but still waiting on a few bits to finish off. Sizing feels spot on. I’m 6’1 with a 33 inseam. They’re going cheap at the mo as well so can really go to town on personal build spec.

Aeris coil owners….. Did you find that you had to size up or down on the spring calculator when choosing the right weight springs….. I just about to hit buy and can’t decide coil or air.

Im coming from a 160mm bike so the 160 linkage doesn’t bother me. I will be putting a set of 160 pikes on it so im hoping this will raise the bar height a bit.

Thanks for the response….. Im going to fire a email off to Bird later… Just wanted so impartial view first. Which Cane Creek are you running… Air or coil?. A Inline coil was on my list, how long did it take you to get it running sweet, I had a DB air years ago and loved it.

Ive been running Ion Rascals for the last few years… Great fit and not overly stiff. If you shop around you can get them for a decent price as well.

You can make yourself some ghetto Code RS. I bought some Guide RS levers and attached them to my Guide RE calipers and now I have my ideal lever feel, plenty of power with good modulation….. And I saved a shed load of wonga and bought myself some new fancy pants… So win win for me.

@tuboflard. I must have spent every Saturday night for at least 5 years in Orbit. I have to say that the best DJ i saw there was Ritchie Hawtin…. Aphex twin was a close second. I too saw Sven vath a few times therebut can’t remember much tbh I was away with the fairies.lol. One DJ I would have loved to see would be Felix da house cat.

Thanks for the replies….. The other 30% is bridleway and dirt tracks…. and prefer puncture protection the weight saving. These will be on a enduro bike so not bothered about weight saving.

I had the same problem with one last year from CRC….. It swollowed a bottle of Stans….. I contacted CRC and they sent me another FOC and told me to dispose of the old tyre…. Tried the old tyre with Conti fluid and sealed up straight away. Cheers CRC.
