if there is a x-over on the amp before the power amp stage it might be fine, most of the power is required for 120hz and below. but unlikely that is the case TBH

the best way to fry speakers is drive them with an amp that is sending out a clipped signal BTW (if you like it loud.)

best to get a beefy amp

nice design, I mad a rack out of plastic pipes, it clips to the floor using the wall fixings so you can pull it out in seconds to park the bikes ouside the van and its just 6 screws if you need to remove the clips to have a smooth flat load space. being bendy it holds a variety of size tyres pretty well and I use a bungee from the grips on the outside bikes bars to the rear facing middle bike, not had any issues with them flopping side to side. used spare bits to fit horizontal and vertical rails on the sides to hang kit from with bungees and cargo net stuff.

    something like this

Go build two identical PCs to a reasonable modern spec. “Optimise” one of them. If “most people” can tell the difference in a blind test based purely on performance I’ll give you my bike.

granted nearly nobody! no room for more bikes anyway!

I resurrected quite a few “old” pcs over the lockdown for students to use. stripping the fat of the OS and using lightweight browsers and other apps on an SSD they performed fine, on a standard instal with all the latest apps they were like treacle.. on a cold day. Fast modern PC will run OK, but gains are there to be had if the user wants them.

Curious that people are suggesting external HDD’s for backups. I thought the very idea of HDD’s gave everyone the galloping heebie jeebies now SSD’s were flavour du jour…

Cloud services use mainly conventional HDDs, some use magic crystals but they charge a premium.

HDD can often be recovered, and usually gives some warning Dead SSD is dead. and they do it in an instant.

    Alright.

Fair enough I get where you are coming from, but that little bit of code is as trustworthy as anything that MS produces… ;)

Many of the features and default settings are open to exploitation, reading a bit about these tools can
be useful to become familiar with these. A standard win setup has loads of mostly unwanted background network stuff going on and a whole heap of processes launch at startup that granted a modern PC will run quite happily, but I think its just a pointless waste of possible performance for most people, depends what you are doing with it I suppose. Plug n Pray is not for everyone :)

regarding backups. get a external drive (or 2), copy your precious files to it, sleep well.

PS other hint is never update anything but the security updates in a hurry, wait till othere updates have been around for a while unless you like living on the bleeding edge… :)

this little script gives you an easy way to turn off/remove and add things to the bloaty win OS if you want to tweak things.

have a read and as always back up anything important

I use a charging utility app so when its plugged in on the desktop it stops at 60% and the laptop runs off the charger. ( some pc laptops have this utility as standard but mines an old apple)
this stops the battery getting hot on a max charge and 60% is I think where batteries are in a happy place.
you should not keep them at 100% all the time

If I am taking it out I just let it top up and go.

there is no need to discourage anyone, it would simply not be a lazy option for people who do not care and/or have money to throw away. ;)

If you approach the issue from an accountants point of veiw there is little point in going further…
tell us how much it costs to implement current systems? then we have a starting point.
…then we can offset it by how effective they are perhaps?

forget the spreadsheet and look at the broader and far more important picture?

Cougar, cities promarily, but traffic bans in other areas where it is beneficial too, some tourist hotspots with issues for example, why not? :)

    squirrelking
You’ve really not thought that through have you?
Who will be paying to administer the scheme?
How much will it cost vs what’s happening now?

what are you refering to? are you expecting a full proposal with a cost analysis? *shrug*

either way it would eventually produce the desired results and probably cost much less to run once people adjust their habits and public services and procedures are in place to minimise any issues, real improvements will never happen with CC ULEZ CAZ or any other schemes based on charges, there is historical evidence of this.

City centres should just be closed to ALL traffic. There is no other workable solution to truly rid them of the scourge.

If you have a reasonable reason to take a vehicle in there there should be a free permit scheme.

Allowing only people that have enough disposable income to relentlessly ruin towns should not be an option.

Waste of money, 1 point whatever billion (which is sure to increase) so mr “I got stuff to do” will possibly have a 2 minute (at most) shorter journey time..before he gets to the next traffic hold -up..

If you dont like being in traffic hold-ups drive less, if your mission is time critical leave a few minutes early and stop being part of the problem/ “incessant whining entitled asshole snivelling” ;)

in case you are having any issues obtaining and installer with the macappshitestore..

this tool is for unsupported macs but you can use it to make a regular bootable installer and it has a tool for downloading HS directly from their server.

High Sierra is pretty stable and runs nearly everything bt the latest versions of software that support silicon.. :(

    iffoverload

try using the latest version of installers if you hit a snag look for legacy versions,

sometimes SIP can get in the way, you mingt need to allow System pref/security and privacy:”allow apps downloaded from anywhere”

occasionally I’ve had to disable the codesignature check to get the odd bit of software or plugin to load using terminal and a couple of commands.

As an aside for older hardware the best OS is often the versions around its release date, the latest and greatest OS releases really do not offer much IMO and are sometimes just resource hogs. The only reason I really see to run the later OS versions is if you need software or hardware that will not run on a legacy version.

the correct way to setup your shock is to put more air in the coil.

then add lots of HSC to give nice trail feedback through your wrists.

when your collar bone has healed after a front door exit you should then experiment with the rebound damping.

    iffoverload

I thought HSC was but hits and LSC was small hits as it relates to the shaft speed and not bike speed

better to think about shaft speed in terms or “square edge” or “rounded” hits not big or small.

running into a 2″ kerb is small yet a very high speed event.

also things slow down at the end of travel

    have fun with the tuning!

    iffoverload

and whar LAT said, you can get bottom out bumpers that are less squishy to give you some progression in the last 15% of the stoke.

    iffoverload
    Free Member

I thought that shaft speed at the end of the stroke was a low speed thing as most of the energy has been absorbed… so LSC increase to help bottoming out harshly? adding HSC will be likely to compromise the shocks ability to track high speed chatter.

Get a cheap spring with a higher rate, dont worry about sag too much, when you are riding along the rebound settings will be more important to stop the shock packing up and keeping it in the mid stroke area than static sag measurements.

might feel nice or might be horrible, the bum-dyno is the best judge IMO

On mine, if the arm is over the pot, I can barely get any down-wiggle. Is this normal?

is the small spring completely squished or missing?
you can also drop a ball bearing on top or under it to get some more clearance.

Shepton MSN Radstock and Peasdown are places in that area I would probably not look to buy a house.
I would check out Warminster if that is an option for you. Decent place, Longleat over the road, has a regular train service and easy access to most travel routes.

if you want to be nearer to bath and briz for schools, college. uni. maybe Keynsham.

The lessons don’t have to be 4 hours, you can scedule them to fit in with study or other commitments and you are not just driving the entire time.
you would spend time practicing maneuvers and negotiating different types of road layouts, car parks, rush hour traffic and driving on A roads etc. without the worry of running out of time and with stops for coaching and a debrief etc. and a rest along the way.

Have a look at the intensive courses, they block book a bunch of tests and change the driver
so wait times are pretty short, they do a assesment lesson and advice you on how much time they think you need and are usually done in 4hr blocks
