I had the lot, the cane as corporal punishment several times and frequent verbal or physical assaults it was fairly common until I was old enough punch the bullying **** back.

There’s nothing to glorify about that aspect of 70’s school culture.

The point I was making was that you need to teach people about the existence of religions and what it’s about.

That it exists should be fairly easy to cover, whats it all about could be more difficult.

Religion should be removed from the curriculum in any form other than awareness that it exists.

Probably the worst idea ever, teach about it but don’t indoctrinate people. Ignorance is one of the biggest issues in the world.

    So thats awareness then.

I think the a frame described as a 58 is more likely now to refer to its top tube than seat tube and a 56 top tube and 58 seat tube is unusual geometry, I think?

    What bike is it.

The very popular 35mm prime for a Nikon is £130, the kit lens isn’t going to get the geeks drooling but it won’t stop you taking good pictures and A basic slr will help you get used to setting speeds apature etc.

I would like to see those charts in times series, GW used per year per source and overall for perhaps the last 30 years.

More fuel for us if you’re locked away

between the bike, trains and a well insulated house you wont get much. :)

Where have all the deniers gone?

Its amazing its taken this long really.

We live in a demand driven economy not a communist command economy. It needs people to stop buying stuff

Whilst I think we broadly agree, reading between the lines of these and your other posts suggests you may have more than average resources(financial) that perhaps allow you the time to develop and implement a long term sensible strategy for reducing your personal energy use.

Most people however live with a sense of urgency to meet more short term needs like feeding the kids or keeping the lights on.
I suppose its a bit like the eating well arguments that people are responsible for it themsleves but if you surround them with sugar and sharp marketing you can expect poor choices.

In my opinion the state has a obligation to make the right choice at least as easy as the wrong one.

Its the overiding prioritisation of “growth” which is unsustainable, growth in my experience is actually just the concentration of wealth in one place at the expense of something else in another and for rich countries like ours how much is too much?

The UK could lead the way on this, develop common sense solutions to living well that dont include ripping off our neighbours, using finite resources, poluting the air etc.

Im the same height as you only a bit shorter in the leg. I have a 56(well actually its called a 57) Bianchi with a 560 top tube and a 54 Allez with a long stem that also seems to measure 560 across the top tube both fit fine.
So was in a similar position when looking at the Genesis and sitting in the shop the 54 felt ok as they often do, a little more manageable.

However…on riding them the 56 was definitely the right bike, IMO they don’t fit very big on the test it rode very chuckable if you know what I mean.

So much so when the dealer told me it was the last available I bought it!
    Sorry.

You may get away with a 54, they come with a long stem but especially with a 33 leg I reckon you would be better on a 56.

As per my earlier reply I have fairly low expectations from motorised road users and they live up to them. Yes, most are extremely courteous and careful but with the 35 million vehicles on the road even a tiny proportion being dangerous puts a fair amount of loons on the road.

One option is night riding, Im lucky living East of the A12 in Suffolk which is pretty quiet anyway but ride those roads at night and you can do 50 miles and see less than a dozen cars.

I think its normal, rarely go a ride of any distance without seeing “punishment passes or somekind or aggresion from drivers.

What would you expect when the media portrays “cyclist” as a plaque on modern society?

No jokes Pete, maybe in your world there’s a lot of Christian Homosexuals but I don’t know many of either let alone people who are both.

Why does this subject get so much air time, homosexuality and religion quite frankly who cares?

I don’t mean that as disrespect to either group but it’s a bit like asking whose interested in both Concrete Roof Tile designs and also Eastern European Chutney recipes, not exactly mainstream.

Hire car provided as a add on benefit regardless of fault = fixed time 14/21 days
Courtesy car provided by repairing garage = for the duration of repairs, no repairs , no car.
Hire car provided by at fault third party = until you have been paid or your car is fixed.

Depends which of the above is providing your temporary car.

Your Green Tea contains caffiene so if if you use 3/4 tea bags its possibly a hit of expresso proportions.

I lost quite a bit of weight last year much of which (I believe) was due to breaking that perception that i need to eat loads to ride my bike for a few hours.

Now, good diet(Beetroot and Spinach, mmm) plus limited alcohol seems to hold me in good stead for a few hours perhaps with a coffee before and a banana during a ride.

Gels are reserved for post alcohol days when I seem to have less reserves.

I now have a nice set of lithium battery clippers which do my whole head the same grade every few days and most of my body once a year for summer bear look.

Rarely Pee on rides, only exception is the really long stuff like say Dunwich Dynamo, even then my reluctance to stop meant I spent a good hour wondering about the feasibility of peeing whilst riding.

Afraid I may not have the equipment required to exit below the bibs though.

What an epic race and great TV.
How anyone can watch that and continue to think wendyball and f1 are sport is beyond me?!

I imagine very little is waterproof under those condictions and exersion, the option to go light would be very tempting tactics (like being the first to swap to slicks or diving in the penalty box, to continue the comparison) which may or may not pay off.

Either way, rain or shine theres a bottle of tea coming with me on the next 50 miler around the local lanes and I fully expect to see an outbreak of ginger beards.
