I’ve not really heard great things about these – especially in the wet – ‘lethal’ seems to be a recurring term.

Last year I did c.8000km incident free road miles….except the 6km trip on the Aksions that came with some mavic wheels. The bike just went from under me on an off camber damp corner. An accident that left me with a separated shoulder and several weeks off the bike.

Looking at the corner now I’m not surprised the bike went but don’t think the tyres helped me out at all and I wouldn’t ride them, won’t even give em to my friends there on the garden ornament bike now.

I don’t think electrolytes are intended to give you energy.

Depends on the ride for me, under an hour not much unless it’s warm weather then I’ll probably have a bit of water and I’ll use some kind of electrolyte which I understand make the water a bit more like the stuff I’m loosing through sweat. Over two hours or if trying hard, I’ll use some kind of energy which is normally sis gels but I recently bought some powder to mix up in a drink, this particular brand (maxi muscle) also contains electrolytes and some protein only used it a couple of times it seems to keep me going but I think I prefer the hydration and energy delivered separately, also the protein makes it taste a bit like milk shake.

I never used recovery drinks until a few weeks ago when I knew a meal wouldn’t be an option so I picked up some all in one recovery 1:1 carb/protein mix which I’m now hooked on, it stops me raiding the fridge and biscuit barrel after a big ride.

I dont think they are often called “Muslim terrorists” more often its “Islamic Terrorists” or radicals or extremeist or whatever, rarely Muslim anything.

Not sure the difference, something PC presumably.

Actually..only time I got caught out was off road using the “back to start” feature which goes back along the same route travelled as opposed to giving a direct direction indicator.

Really! people honestly need advice on buying a bottle cage What do you do if you have to buy something big and important like a house or a car?

Were as I would like to know which work well but aren’t really bothered about cars, (aren’t Hyundies the best anyway?).

Is there a default choice of cage, bottle doesn’t fall out/rattle but you can put it back one handed on rough road etc?

If it was just a notable reduction in the number humans I would probably enjoy the opportunity to ride my bike with a reduced chance of being killed by some **** in a car.

You do know you’re supposed to give cyclists 3 metres overtaking room don’t you so you would need to move to the other side of the road to overtake. I guess you don’t know that or care.
You’re also meant to never ride more than 2 abreast, and even then only on wide, quiet, straight roads.

    https://www.gov.uk/rules-for-cyclists-59-to-82/overview-59-to-71

Pick a side and be a dick about it.

Certainly seems to be the way you approach any wheel size discussion.

Has the bit about single file on narrow or busy roads been added recently?

This is going to be big year for cycling, big groups are possibly a bad thing but way better than one truck.

I have them on the commuter, there better in traffic and less shoe faff. Aged 30 btw your knees are barely worn in, do a bit of strength building they’ll be fine.

How do you then use the route logged in Google maps?

I find Garmin Connect faultless for use with a Garmin device.

But tbh 3 lads out riding on a (country) road wearing black with no lights

On one level your right but tbh I find it saddening that people are expected to eek out some kind of life dodging cars.

Yep, couple of bearings rs8602 from memory ( Google that before buying) small hammer, flat blade screwdriver and a optionally a pair of circlip pliers.
    And lots of grease

They are the quickest and simplist BB bearings to replace IMO..

    Brimstone-
can you please post a picture of the bike when you get around to purchasing, itll gives those recovering from the ” I’ve been robbed by Jenson Button” thread something to anticipate.

No rush I suggest you drag it out a few weeks at least! :)

They are ugly but not as ugly as derailleurs or excessive logos and we seem to put up with those.

Thomas Cycles- good stock, happy to let you test, Ipswich. Good service IME.
Elmys- good stock, happy to let you test, female manager, Ipswich. Great service IME.
Pedal Power- perhaps not quite the stock of the others, don’t know about tests but would have thought it’s ok, Ipswich. good rep.
Lifecycles- lots of top end stuff, good rep. Bildeston.
Halfords- bargain boardmans, no test, inconsistent service.
Paul’s Dereham- online bargains if you know what you want.

If your just getting into the sport/hobby I would add extra value to service over getting an upgraded widget on the bike.

Clarkson (and the whole format) increasingly looks a bit Alf Garnett , out of date and unwanted.

They should have moved on, done some new technology pieces instead of the the usual max power petrolhead guff.

Never mind wheel sizes what is it with bike photo taken in front of white panelled garage doors. It’s like a genre all to itself.

btw do the steering wheels on Fords still turn to mush after 50k?

I always thought Ford should divert a bit of the marketing budget into improving the actual product.

My recent (owned) car progression has gone V8 petrol – V6 petrol – 1.9tdi.
The 1.9 is by far the best car of the lot, so much so that its become dull due to its competency and i will be looking for an Alfa Romeo van next.

Lost two front ones in an interface with yz125 when I was 16 ish and a couple more subsequently over the last 30 yrs which the dentist tells me is common when some teeth are lost in a trauma.

Depends if you snap em in which case you can have the remains crowned or if there knocked out in which case it’s an implant/bridge or falsies.

Btw I was told if you have a tooth knocked clean out to stick it back as quick as possible(especially if it’s a child) because they can retake.

I wouldnt wave anyone through, in fact I recall it being specifically in the rules of a local club that riders shouldnt do it.

Also as a driver I would ignore any rider attempting to direct me.

Sounds like youve learnt the lesson though.

And….they weigh under 250g and squash up small which makes them great off the bike touring shoes.

Disc brakes make sense for a commute work horse or extended rough terrain but for a sports fitness road bike I don’t see the benefit.
