Couldnt find one, asked the same question on here a few weeks back.

In the end I bought a three ring one of ebay, fsa as it happens but could have been anything. Replaced the rings with a 32t and fitted a 5mm bash plate from on one.

I have just built an on one scandal with a carbon seatpost and fork which is comfier than any ht bike Ive ever ridden inc quite a few steel frames.

Steel definetly more robust but anything else Im not so sure now.

I had considered that, dont you get any problems with chainline? My half link chain is at max tightness at the mo with axle hard against the end of the dropout, another link max’s out the on one tugs.

I would have to wait for the chain to stretch(which it does daily) but will give that a go. cheers

I did last years, well the first 65mile anyway on an anthem thought I may as well push a bit less bike up the hills this year.
Dont really understand the 29er gearing, this years plan is to use a new to me scandal 26 its got 32/15 for sunny sufflok but I dont know whether to go for 16 or 17 rear cog.

I suspect itll be be 17 considering my projected levels of unfitness and will also add a sus fork.
    Cheers for the replies.

Tried to book for Barcelona today, price for outbound came up as 21.99 went through to book declined all the extras and it wouldnt let me book said there was an error.
Did it again outbound flights came up as 36.99 tried clearing cookies it still came up as 36.99 and was clearly recognising me because even after restarting IE it held my airports as the starting point.

Didnt book, came home using home pc and booked it at the original 21.99.

Dont know exactly what was going on there but very dodgy indeed.

Steel seems like dreadful stuff to make forks, handlebars, stems, seatposts out of, but great stuff to make frames out of, weird.

No disrespect mr spoon but if you can average 17 mph over a good distance on a MTb you should be pro ( and winning a lot of races ). Sound like there’s a miscalc somewhere.

Good clearance from the disc making for a free spinning wheel. Easy to bleed. Lots of ajustability. Not that powerful but do stop you. Look good or like there made out of washing machine leftovers.

    I would buy them again.

You need more chain on your cog. Tension up, or down but with less links.

My Diablo mk2 just stopped after a month, it’s now been back with exposure for 2 weeks, it’s a good light but I would now like it back and working please.
I fairness the hope 2 I bought last year went back three times albeit with a quicker turn around. Sorry guys but neither is presently a great advert for British manufactur.

Best: a long sleeve merino top best in summer or winter. Buffs lots of em.
Worst: just about any waterproof, they all seem to make me boil in the bag.

If the pro 2 cost twice as much but lasts three times as long it’s better value.

Bought a 1.2 clio new in 1998, twelve years later it is still my daily transport.

Replaced brake pads once , tyres twice, battery once, several wiper blades and perhaps a light bulb or two.

No stamps in the service book because it hasn’t had any, its had an oil change now and then though.

About 70k now, never let me down.

Could be the angle of the photo or the glass of sherry I had an hour ago but that bike looks like it was designed for an old person perhaps with a back problem.

Is it one of those spech/trek trekking bikes they sell to florida pensioners?

I’ll have a price for a full set of anthem x please. Best you have.

If possible I will be fitting them with a large hammer and stuff in my garage if not possible the LBS will be doing it.

Ok chaps just to recap, Ive tried them out and experienced the benefits of being able to bailout quicker especially uphill. I also liked being able to just jump on the bike and ride.

On the down side I found with my type of riding 1 or 2 hour xc races I wasnt securely fastened to the pedals to keep the power coming through rough terrain.

Can anyone describe the technique required to overcome this using flats.

I think there made by another company for Deuter, cant remember the name but I prefer them. They have a slide opening rather than the screw in camelback jobby.

Guys, this is only a discussion about bicycle pedals. My posts are my experience, yours may be different.

    Thanks for the replies anyway.

Did actually leave the flat pedal on for the xc ride, not good. Problem is when you out of the saddle pedaling especially on twisty bumpy singletrack your feet move around on the pedals. Just not a strong enough connection for that type of riding.

SPDs are back on and staying on.

If I ever buy a slack angled, wide barred bike for riding DH it may be different story.

(if anyone wants to make a quid there must be a market for tool free swapable pedals)

After posting I though I better try it out. So on went some flat pedals and I set of for a quick local loop on the Anthem.

Firstly the bike seemed more accessible with flat pedals theres no need to get changed to ride the bike just jump on and go. When riding though I did feel a bit disconnected which was slightly un nerving (we are talking minor difference here).
On the up side there is a couple of tricky stepped sections on the loop and I was more confident on them having a few milliseconds of extra bailout time especially when going uphill.
Efficiency wise I didn’t feel I was getting the most from the bike but it was more fun to ride and I would be more likely to just go for a quick spin from the front door.

Lastly I am sure people were pointing and staring at me because I couldnt be a proper cyclist without spd pedals.

SPD’s are back on for this mornings ride, getting left behind on the Sunday morning XC ride is not an option. Flats may go back on for mid week solo stuff and arsing around.

Just another reason to by more bikes, one with spd’s one with flats.

Everything is worth what someone will pay for it. That goes just as much for blingtastic bikes as it does for rubber bands. Good luck to them wish I,d thought of it first.

My last lap of D2D was unashamedly 2h15m and the light was on full power maybe brightness dropped but I didnt notice.

I ve also used it on a couple of night rides since mostly on the lower setting same as joystick and found that quite adequate as a helemt light.

I think its worth the extra few quid for that extra power setting though even if you need another battery to really make the most of it.

I bought and used the Diablo MK2 from Phils Bike Shop at this years D2D.

I could not be happier with it, compared to the hope two I used on the bars it has a broader and much brighter beam. It also lasted full laps on full power which ended up over 2 hours.

I think there going to become popular.
