Never heard of MTB in the seventies. I had a racer with cowhorns, the gears were junked and chained fix on middle cassette ring.

First mtb came in the late eighties, claud butler incorrectly delivered and never collected so I had it.

Got stolen a year later so guess that was karma but I was hooked by then.

If you think a paper disc would be proof of insurance cut the corners of your certificate and stick it on your dash. Either would be fairly meaningless , the real proof of insurance is now the electronic database.

Whoever was your last insurer may accept it.

Did your airbags go off? If they did its probably a write off.

Without a third party it will be a claim on your insurance, youll get paid the value of the car, less the excess and outstanding premium.
Do you have any ncd? If you do and its notprotected youll loose a couple of years and even if its protected or you dont have any youll still have fault claim on your file which will increase you next premium a lot.

May not be worth claiming on a 1k car.

There is some rain forecast for Monday, which is much needed. The trails are smooth and fast but a bit dusty due to the dry weather of recent. Forecast is good up to next weekend so it break the Tunstall jinx this year.
Personal choice will be a rigid single speed but Im in it for fun, so wont be in too much hurry.

Good luck on the day :)

Recently rode the peak on a 100mm AnthemX, it was an absolute blast. You have tp pedal up those hills before coming down them you know!
Others were on 100mm hardtails no problem, all had a great time. Few punctures on superlight tyres, high rollers will sort that.

Only niche bikes seem break get a proper one made by a big co. Itll be fine :).

Why is new, faster, better automatically worse for some people? No dvd’s in this house fir a few years now. Hd movies from a server. Downloaded from itunes or other suppliers.

    Saves transport and manufacter.

Changing anything other than your postcode will make little difference.

JuJuuk68’s summary is correct and combined with the insurers inability to cover premium to cost deficits in the markets results in the premiums taka is quoted.
The only way to get it substantially cheaper would be if you find some one incorrectly rating the risk.

Its not really the insurers fault they merely do the sums, politicians make the choices that shape society.

Get a bike for a year or two, it’ll keep you fit!

All insurance sold in the uk automatically covers you for the legal minimum required by any EU country. This means you have third party cover for anywere no need to notify your insurer.

If you want to increase the cover to the same level you have in the uk , probably comprehensive. You will need to ring your insurer and may have to pay an additional cost or they may have a free period as mention above most max at 90 days as you are then considered non uk resident and niether cover would apply. Difficult to enforce that last bit though.

When you sync an iphone it creates a back up file. A program called “itwin” can be used to decipher theses files. Strangley only available on pc, retreives texts, call details, notes, calandrs and phone book. Never seen anything looking like a gps location.

I asked exactly the same question a couple of months ago and got pretty much the same responses.

Ended up buying an fsa v drive triple, removing the big and little ring. Fit a 5mm bash ring (on one sometimes has them on offer). Looks better and also means you dont need shorter bolts.

The triple could have been a slx or deore or anything really.

I get the impression single speed doesn’t fit the bike industry business model.

    Mine have very distinct bite.

They are useless for two rides after I wash the bike, then bite returns. THB I just dont wash it anymore, let the dirt dry brush it of and ride again. Good brakes all the time.

I grew up between Leeds and Bradford and unless theres been some drastic makeover bradford was/is a bit of a dump, sorry Bradford.

If I was going to live back up there it would be Leeds as the nearest town and were exactly would depend on my job and expected commute.

Having said all that Im getting on a bit now and the Norths a bit too chilly for my taste. Brrr.

Try East Anglia, no mountains so no gears or bounce required. Great xc and its nice and warm!

Spend every penny you have on the best possible. If ever one thing was worth your money its a mattress.
Personally, I would go for a traditional job, foam is too sweaty but that your choice.

For me it was about right with the stem on the conical washer. But as someone else said try it move the stem down, flip it over find out what feels the best to you. Then after a few months cut the steerer but leave a washers worth on top of the stem just in case.
